i disagree. i regularly speed up videos, but this one is not too slow imo. it´s a good speed, in averarge i think. so, Lone Crow, i hope you keep a speed that´s comfortanble for you!
Awesome device. One thing I learned to ignite is to hold it in the start position until the amber ignites and then place in the on position. Works everytime. Thanks for the video and sharing things that make life better.

Great review i have been using thermacell for many years in Hong Kong, Im just a bit confuse with thermacell product line it give me a strong feeling alot of their design are overlap and it exactly same thing just different look, all of them use same 12Hr fuel cartridge and repellent pad, for my personal camping experience in Hong Kong I think the best and only thermacell product are the backpacker only why.. because it power by typical 220gram or 440gram gas canister cheap easy to refill and heat up the pad more stable and last much longer, and since all other thermacell product all work the same way heat up the pad and release the repellent, they all use same pad and all create 15 x 15 shield i find it hard to choose other thermacell product , after my long years of camping it lead me to think one thermacell backpacker is enough for 99% situation

Another great review. I learned about this from Camping with Steve. Bought the portable one out every time we went camping last year and it was absolutely amazing. Pro tip: (probably screwing myself for saying this, but whatever) grab the pads and the cartridges when you can. They sell out fast!
Thanks for doing this video. My mama bought me the lantern style ThermaCELL. It takes 3 AAA batteries and doesn't need to be clicked to ignite. It only has an on/off switch. The light attracts the vicious Pterodactyls. So I'm guessing it's for night use. But on our property they're 24/7 I think I'll find the one you have for day use.
I have that lantern one as well. You can actually use the light independently from the mosquito repellent and vice versa. So if you want to turn the light off at night you can still run the mosquito protection.
I just bought my first one guess my question is can you use it in your tent for say 30 minutes then turn it off and not have any skeets . Or is it safe to use in a closed place like your tent at all ? Your product reviews are awesome . Bless ya .
I've never tried that but I don't see why you can't. I've even used it indoors for the first time this spring when we had a bumper crop year of skeeters up here. It was unlike anything I've ever seen!!!
Additional cartridges is where they ding you. $20 for the device and another $22 for four spare cartridges. Probably cost them nickels on the dollar per cartridge.
great review. I enjoy listening ot you. Thank you. But this Thermacell Patio is not working on my backyard. I put it out there, let it run for 20-25 minutes. no wind at all. Mosquitoes were still very actively attacking me. To me this "shield" is falsely advertised, it's not repelling mosquitoes.
That seems strange. I had the MR300 running two nights ago when bugs were bad and I fired it on a took care of about 95% of them. Was there a fine mist coming out from the pad after it heated up!?
Nice job on the content. But I hate the product only because it’s like buying a printer. The cartridges of a printer will come out to be more expensive. This thermicell is pretty much the same concept. You buy for $27. And refills which is quite often at $20 a refill 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
I've got 1 of the backpacker ones and 1 thats similar to this but a lantern as well. They work fantastic and I've never had an issue starting one. I do wish I could somehow refill the fuel cells.

If it's a little windy I will usually put a makeshift windscreen around it. Sometimes I even will pile up some firewood. Fine up to 5-7mph winds. Anything higher than that sustained doesn't work great, but generally bugs aren't bad when the breeze kicks up unless a storm rolls in. I've had no issues with wind myself.
Can u do a video that explains the situation each product is made to be placed in. For example, if both products produce a 15 Radius of protection...Why would I purchase the MR300 instead of the PATIO SHEILD...or vice versa?
Sure thing! That's a great video idea! I also have the MR300 which I find is more suited to hunting and fishing or backcountry pursuits due to its durability versus the patio Shield which is best for table top placement. The MR300 can be placed on the ground on uneven terrain easily where the patio Shield tends to topple over on uneven ground. I personally like the MR300 because it's my favorite. They also make an MR450 which is an armored version which is drop resistant. Hope that helps.
This may be overlooking the obvious, but I want to confirm that if you just need the protection for 4 hours, then I would use one pad and 1/3 of the butane. Of course, I will throw the pad away, but if I want to keep the remaining butane, thinking I only have to unscrew it from the device and replace the cap, and I should be back in business the next time around. Is this correct?
Yes that is absolutely correct. You can even leave it screwed in the device for storage so long that it's turned off. Just replace the pad next time you need to use it!
The ONLY thing I dont like about this product, is the fact that the refills for butane and pads cost an arm and a leg... it works like a hot damn though!!
