Unfortunately I don't have the part number for that little piece. The best bet might be to call up Thermador or Bosch. They should be able to quickly identify it on their diagrams.

How do you change this out if the vent is down and button broke off. Is there a way to safely manually pull it up for easy access?

Ouch. Good question. Not sure to be honest. You’d have to raise it up somehow. Maybe by shorting the switch temporarily to get it to rise up first?

How can check that the switch has to be replaced? The part is very expensive and I do not want to purchase and ultimately find that the electric motor is the culprit and not the switch? Thanks very much (great video btw)

I think you can tap the wires together to get it to engage or disengage. that's the same thing the switch does. If you do that and it raises/lowers then the switch needs to be replaced.

How do you pull the thermador up?

if your switch is not working you can take the 2 wires going to the button and touch them to each other momentarily and it should engage the motor to go up or down.

Does the black cover/dial knob just pull off?

The black button just pulls up. The knob that rotates pulls out of the housing. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to help

Your video was terrific. That was the exact part we needed! However, now that everything is back together, it is almost as if the side with the knob is pushing against something - The vent rises and lowers, but you can hear the motor straining. Also, it won't go down the last 2 inches without a little push. Any idea how to fix the alignment or figure out what is causing the resistance?

@@jason1261 glad it was helpful! When I first reassembled mine, I had a similar issue. I took it apart again and noticed that the assembly wasn’t pushed all the way down and was rubbing on the “bulge” where the screws go in. Took a bit of wiggling to get it seated correctly and put back together. Then it all operated smoothly. Not sure if your issue is the same, but I bet something just didn’t line up perfectly during reassembly.

@@nkphomeimprovement3625 Thanks so much! We tried it and re-put it back together as you suggested. We discovered that something else was blocking the movement. we discovered two things first: 1. We are seeing some kind of plastic sheeting on the backside of the metal. We think it might be a protective layer? May be a vapor barrier for the grease? That plastic layer bunched up, but we were able to push it down a bit. 2. There is some type of cells strip that runs the length of the vent that was dangling. We decided to try to pull it off as it was extremely saturated with grease. It didn't come off in one piece. do you think not having the strip will be detrimental to the operation of the vent?

@@jason1261 That's interesting. Ours didnt have that backing paper or the strip you mentioned. My guess would be that you're fine to remove them. They are probably there to bock off air passages to increase air "suction" strength. I assume that it may be a revised design or something since our older unit didn't have them on there.
