So, does the W1 signify a turnaround from the Big Water days for Thermaltake? Yes, it definitely does. The W1 is a very nice CPU block, there is no disputing it. It is well made and engineered to leave very little margin for error and to deliver good performance.

Yes! More custom water cooling parts please!! Been getting the itch to drop some cash lately and a custom loop has peaked my interest.

This might blow everyone's mind with this ... I tested the Thermaltake W2 not the W1 water block (which I believe is made buy Swiftech Apogee) and benchmarked it against the more expensive Ekwb Supremacy Evo. To my surprise the Thermaltake W2 was out performing the EKWB in liquid cooling, I didn't test with air however... I was shocked as I am a EK guy and usually only buy their proven and trusted parts. However the W2 was giving slightly cooler results and its anywhere from 20-30 dollars less than the Evo. The biggest selling point I see with the Thermaltake W2 water block is the led lighting for ascetics... Something to keep in mind.

The Thermaltake Pacific W1 CPU Water Block is for AM4 which you didn't mention, also the 'goofy' orientation is incorrect the in/out are vertical as shown in the instructions you show.

how do i know if the contact pressure is right? unfortunately the instructions are not very informative. i have an AM4 board and am not happy with the temps. they jump up and down like a yoyo in idle. The backplate has one side with foam rubber. This compresses accordingly if you tighten the standoffs too tightly. This makes the protruding part of the screw too long and because the knurled nut is not continuous, I didn't even have enough contact pressure and my system didn't boot. can this be improved? with my previous AiO (kraken nzxt) you could simply tighten the nuts as far as they would go. If you were to loosen the spacers between the mainboard and cooler so that the length of the protruding thread is exactly the same length as the depth of the nut + thickness of the cooler bracket, then I'm afraid that there will be too much play between the board, backplate and cooler and you still won't achieve the desired pressure. Does anyone have any experience?

Well Thermal take spends more on R&D than any other liquid cooling company. So give them props for making up now.

Phobya uc-1 Vs Thermaltake W1 Vs Ek supremacy Mx? My first Cooling build. I'm switching from Aio. Anyone have a reccomendation for a cooling block? The W1 is just a EK copy correct? Will be cooling cpu only. I5-6600k. I have a xspc AX120mm Rad and Phobya single 5.25 Bay resovoir, so far.

Case Labs indicated that Thermal-Take did not copy their "box" design. Sideways mount? AMD is really getting the short end of the stick again. Sad.
