What was the fan orientation during vertical gpu testing? Why didn’t you test that with different fan orientations or would it be inconsequential?

Regarding the funny threading of the side panel screw. This is what happens when one uses a Steel Screw with and Aluminum Thread. If you are not careful you can easily cross thread the screw cause the Aluminum Thread to be stripped. The easy way for the user to avoid this is to learn proper screw starting technique. When starting a screw turn it backward (counterclockwise) until you feel the screw drop into the thread then turn it clockwise. If you do no not feel the screw drop into the thread correct the angle of the screw. This problem is prone on small gauge threads. This problem can be avoided if the case manufacturer uses a hard metal thread insert of medium gauge. At the very least brass like a Pem Insert.

I found that the rubber bumpers that fit over the standoff screws for the side panels do not line up with the holes in the glass. This is probably why many people end up cross-threading the screws. A workaround is to remove the rubber pieces and fit the smaller end into the glass, then hold them as you close the panel so they slide back onto the standoff screws.

Probably no one will read this, but. I just finished my first AMD build (5800x/Crosshair VIII) and used this case to house it in. It had previously been home to a Z97 gaming setup. This was also my first build (I've been building since the mid 80s) where I've made an attempt at cable management. The result on all fronts is spectacular! Since you had made such a point of air cooling issues with this case I did some thermal testing under various scenarios with the one I'll address here being the airflow concerns. Full disclaimer, I have 9 x 120mm and 4 140mm PWM fans and an TT 360 AIO for cooling. First I tested with all the glass removed in virtually all fan profiles and had CPU temp of ~38C and GPU @ 52/53 C (GPU on 0db mode). Added the glass panels and immediately saw a temp decrease of ~7C on the CPU and ~10C on the GPU. Then I put all fans (and by the way, do you have any idea how hard it is to have good cable management with all these TT 2 foot long fan cables and controllers !!! ... but that's another story). Turned all fans up to full (~1600 rpm) and the CPU dropped another few degrees down to 31C and the GPU dropped also. Took the GPU off 0db and the GPU dropped to to 31C also. ALL fans, except the 6 x 120mm on the radiator, are pushing air into the case, only the radiator and Thor PSU push/pull air out of the case (A revision I made after watching your review - Thanks Steve!). In full silent mode at idle CPU runs at ~38C and the GPU around 41C - in silent mode gaming can be problematic with CPU hitting a scary 71C with the GPU going up to ~83C. In full speed fan mode (MaadDaawg profile) the machine laughs at gaming hahaha. Only way I could improve temps would be a full blown custom water loop but none of my Feser's will fit into the case. Case cools extremely well on air/aio with sufficient resources.

I recently bought this case for my Threadripper build, here's my list of issues that I've had with it so far: - No PSU shroud at this price :( - No PCIe cable for the vertical GPU mount (seriously would be a few cents..) - Claims E-ATX support, E-ATX motherboard covers all cable management holes... - Can't really easily pick the case up to move it unless you remove the front panel or side glass doors Looks great but there are a bunch of small issues, cool to see you also mentioned most of them too :)
@GamersNexus
@GamersNexus 6 лет назад
Yeah, basically the same complaints we had. Didn't have trouble picking it up, and the lack of the PSU shroud means better breathing for the GPU, but the lack of the included PCIe cable + proper E-ATX support is a let down.
@brandenlucero
@brandenlucero 6 лет назад
i couldn't care less about the shroud. many cases that support E-ATX have problems with cable management involving that size of a motherboard. even my Level 10 GT's cable routes get covered with an E-ATX board.

Jarrod'sTech damn. I guess what you mentioned aren’t too big of an issue. But this case is the only full size tower I know of that is all tempered glass. I ordered mine a few days ago but it isn’t here for a few days. Is it still worth it? Shall I go for it or cancel it hoping for a better alternative. The only thing close to that is a c700p but the canucks review showed it kinda looked crappy.

most of these guys on youtube will put lipstick on the pig and try to sell whatever it is they make a video on because they want to get free stuff from that manufacturer. If they dont get free stuff from that manufacturer they will trash their name every chance they can get in their videos just out of spite. They may back up the claims of why so and so is trash but we dont even know how truthful their claims are till we do our own testing. Some of these guys are worse than other. Linus seems to praise lots of garbage. Going back and watching his old videos is quite entertaining knowing they didnt age well.

Steve, I would like to get the GIGABYTE AORUS RTX 2080 and mount it vertically. I also want to use the E-ATX Z390 AORUS Xtreme board, but those two things were concerns of yours with this case. So should I even bother using this case or is their a better one for me to consider? What about Corsair's new Obsidian Series 1000D? My concern was the vertical gpu mount because it looked like it's only for the lower mini-ITX system used at the bottom and would not work for the upper system. Is their a website that explains positive and negative air flow in cases that you would recommend? Have you done a video on that I could watch? Thanks for your help.

Loved the review. I've purchased the Thermaltake View 71 RGB. I noticed a lot of builds leave the fans in stock positions on move the rad and fans for AIO coolers to the top. My plan was to leave the stock fan in the back (for exhaust), move the front two fans to the top (for exhaust), and front mount the AIO (Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240R Addressable RGB AIO) to the front. Good idea or not? What's your opinion on push vs pull? A lot of builds seem to use pull (probably for aesthetics or noise), but I think push would be superior. Thoughts???

I mounted a Floe 360 AIO with six fans in a push-pull configuration. I mounted it on the front and inside, yes it takes up space but hearing that a front mount AIO provides cooler temps then a side mounted or top mount. Had to DIY so it could reach the CPU so I came up with the six fan config, it works, temps stay around 74-80 Fahrenheit. Also, I have a XFX Rx 580 vertically mounted, a 120mm fan in the back and three 120mm fans on the side where the AIO could of gone and the three 140mm that came with the case on the top. So far I have cool temps all around and you can feel the air that is being pushed out of the Case.

Case screw issues with Thermaltake have always been the case. ... Ha. But no, seriously: Thermaltake's QA/QC with case quality is not always the greatest, especially with resilience to oxidation (quality of case finish/paint) and chances at stripping threads (material quality). I have a Thermaltake Core V41, and they present all those issues that are really minor, but they still need to be considered, despite its overall performance and flexibility.

Yeah, your brother will really love this if you go with RGB fans, or add RGB frames to the existing fans you've got by buying some Phanteks RGB Halos for 10 bucks a piece.

I have a thermaltake x5 and I couldn't be happier. So much comparability and supports eatx. Also your harware is under less stress and wear and tear because it is horizonally positioned and not vertically.. my cards never bend and any setup i want is doable. The only thing is if you want to overclock i suggest getting a portable ac unit for your room because either way you put it you need cool air and if its circulating in your room no matter what case you have it will get hot one way or another. god bless

great case I put three 120mm TT Riing Trio fans on the front and a TT Floe Riing Premuim Edition 360mm AIO vertical mounted and put the 3 rgb case fans that came with it, one on rear and two on top. Real happy with the look. May in the near future remove the stock RGB fans and replace them with three 140mm TT Riing Trio fans. System runs really cool and very happy with it

CM H500P next, please! C700P are everywhere already and the H500P'S price is way more accessible. Also: There is one other case on the market, which features tempered glass on a hinge, namely the Phanteks Enthoo Luxe TG. Just thought, I'd mention it :P

would the new 3000 GPU set up verticle, in this case, have better airflow due for having the fans on both sides of the GPU instead of just 1 side like the 2000 cards?

My only issues with mine are that it is huge, and occasional noise from the top case fan. I don't think it's sitting quite right in the case and I haven't been able to completely resolve that despite trying. I love the potential to add more drives. At the moment I'm running 4 plus a Bluray writer.

Hi, is there enough space for a 240 mm top mount radiator push pull configuration without conflicting with high profile ram sticks?
@twizz420
@twizz420 4 года назад
Yes. It mainly depends on what motherboard you use, though. I have a Crosshair VII Hero X470 and I have an ML240L in the top, with the CM fans pulling in, and 2 gamdias fans pushing from the top. The top fan mount piece can be removed completely to make it a lot easier to add fans and AIO's.

I am looking for a TG case. At the moment my favourite is the Meshify C, just the dark tinted panel is a turn off for me. However, I got in contact with the sales team and they stated that they will provide the TG panels for the C series in their spare parts center around the end of the year. So one could buy the panel from the Define C which is compatible with the meshify but not tinted. So my question is: How good is the decoupling for HDDs in the Meshify C? Is one better off with builing your own decoupler? I am a silent freak but also I like to arrange my components nice and tidy... Unluckily I have to stay on budget so cases like the bequiet! Silent Base Pro or whatever are far out of reach...

And I'm still waiting for a refresh of their Define S (best case design so far) with TG, shroud, top dust filters, swivel sidepanel, vertical gpu mount, front removable psu filter, more front io connectors, ... I absolutely love my case, but I just wish it had glass.

had to go back on this one, Three years running closed loop, CPU and GPU EKWB, two 3X140s and the original back fan. Non stop, no issues, barely reach 75C. And I haven't done anything over 4 years, just changed liquid once, everything looked great. I have to remove and clean mesh screens every year. Every year!!! That is stellar to me. AMD 5900X AMD Radeon VII on ASUS Crosshair Viii wifi 560, (guess I got lucky before they fired all their exp designers.... Yeah, I am a CADdie..... But I love ACC and Project Cars 2. I love the dust panels, but I also change my oil every 3-4k miles.....

We build a pc in this case for display. I’m disappointed it didn’t come with the 6 fans it’s basically advertises on the box. But in person is a stunning case.

Hinged tg doors needs to be the standard. Even now, 2 years later, it's still not mainstream but my gawd it makes all the difference. I recently built in the Cougar Gemini T and the Fractal Meshify C.... Gemini T easily wins by a landslide in my book for ease of building. Honestly, if the Meshify C had hinged doors.... boi.

I felt that the case may be too small and yea, it doesn't fit everything as standard, but it's surprisingly good when you turn all the silly lights off. The good thing is that it has a lot of mounting points for you to just wing it and throw more hdds in.

Tempered glass is a insulator, so in fact it's the worst for dissipating heat.

I just picked up the View 71 RGB and it was actually $10 cheaper than the non-rgb variants. The black non-rgb version and white non-rgb version both cost $10 more for whatever reason at Canada Computers.
