Used this to monitor a 10 hour cook in a smoker and an overnight rest in the oven for the best brisket Ive ever made. The probe worked flawlessly and I liked the loud alarms when ambient temperature dropped. Much better range on the wifi than the Meater probe I have.

Glad to see some competition to the meater +. Great product but overly priced with some features lacking. Hopefully prices will continue to drop as more of these hit the market along with better features. Thanks Dave.

Great review. Thank you. Can you use these in an air fryer oven? I guess as long as it’s kept under 275C?

I think it depends on the layout of the house and what sort of siding you have.

Baked a thick Salmon patty from frozen for my first try with this and set at 145 cook temp. It came out perfectly in an air fryer and found that the air fryer is off by 30 degrees.

Was excited to see the review and the price, ordered one right away. Problem was the meat probe was accurate but the ambient temp was off by -50 degrees. Sent it back. May reorder for one more try. Always enjoy your videos thanks

Mine was a bit off at first but it settled down after a couple cooks

Great video Dave! Question: So, how do you turn it off after a cook? Mine is cool, clean and back in the booster for storage and the red light for "probe" continues to (slowly) blink. Does that mean the booster / charger is charging the probe back to a fully charged level? Dumb question I guess, but this one's new to me. Thanks in advance! Tom

Does the app lose the graphing history after a wireless signal drop?
@oscarmarfori613

Good Product but the drawback is the spike has a large.diameter which is not good for small cuts of meat now a.days technology tends to lean on the smaller designs a smaller spike will be advantageous to smaller cuts and also for cooking Chicken and Fish if you are really on to more cooking accuracy but at the end thinner probes will make sense for meat temp monitoring now a days, thanks for sharing your video

Is the probe made out of stainless steel?
@redveiner
@redveiner Год назад
I am surprised it has no magnet and it's made out of plastic. This is a disadvantage for me. I could see the thing blowing around during a cook or worse. I like the reception and connectivity. The price now is $80. still cheaper than the competition, but not that much cheaper, considering the case seems so cheap and almost mickey mouse. I have used the Meater and it seems OK to me , but not perfect. Will I buy this one, maybe?

I am fairly certain I have the same one he is demoing and the cradle is magnetic. It actually is fairly strong and will grab nicely to a surface. I am using the Model No: TP960

Can you use this on hamburgers or is it too big? Can you run this thing parallel through the meat? It seems a little big.
@daveshouseofbbq

It would have to be a pretty thick burger. I’d use an instant read thermometer for that.

Is the probe to large for baby back ribs inserted parallel to the bone?
@daveshouseofbbq
@daveshouseofbbq Год назад
Yes, it’s probably too big for baby back ribs. To be honest, I never use a thermometer with ribs. I just wait until the meat shrinks up about a half inch on the bones, do the bend test, and then call them done.
@GeneralRock114
@GeneralRock114 Год назад
@@daveshouseofbbq I have a Weber smoker, and for ribs, I was more interested in something that would be good for monitoring the ambient temperature of the smoker so I don’t have to keep going outside to check it. Any good suggestions? Thanks.
@daveshouseofbbq
@daveshouseofbbq Год назад
@@GeneralRock114 any of the multi probe wireless thermometers should work fine. They all give you the option to monitor ambient temperature. If you’re looking for a cheaper version, I’ve had good success with thermopro thermometers. If you’re looking for the more expensive Cadillac of thermometers, you can go with Thermo works.

Let me get this straight, 400 + feet with the grill lid shut? Off a Bluetooth connection? I don't believe it.
@daveshouseofbbq
@daveshouseofbbq 10 месяцев назад
The probe that is in the grill connects to the charging unit that is outside of the lid. That is what sends the Bluetooth signal. But to be honest, it’s 400 ft with no obstructions.
@3eggerfpv397
@3eggerfpv397 10 месяцев назад
@@daveshouseofbbq - Yep, I totally understand that, but it's still a Bluetooth connect between the Boost unit and app @400 ft? I find that hard to believe as most Bluetooth connections are maybe 40ft with no obstructions, No? If true, and I'll mention that name MEATER, which is a piece of junk when it comes to connectivity, if this connects like you say it does, I'm in!!!
