Here is a review of a thermos 16 ounce food jar. This thermos 16 ounce insulated food jar can be used to keep hot food hot, or cold things cold. You can also cook in it. In this video review and test of the thermos 16 ounce insulated food jar, I put ice in it and test how many days it stays frozen, and I also put hot food into it and test the temperature the next day, and I show you how to cook rice in a thermos insulated food jar. An insulated food jar is very versatile, and you can do a lot with it more than just keeping food hot and cold. Watch this video of you to learn all the different ways to use a thermos insulated food jar, and see how well it works. This test of the Thermos food jar shows exactly how long it stays hot and cold.
Here’s where you can buy a 16 ounce thermos insulated food jar like the one in the video.

It works great for lunch. You can also do steel cut, oatmeal as well, which is one of my favorites.

You can make overnight oatmeal in those thermoses too. I used to dry camp and made lots of stuff like that. I have too many thermoses to count including several of those huge ones that will hold LOTS of coffee. I purchased them to put water cold water in and keep in my vehicle (before I sold them) and that way I had cold water out in the desert. As always, thank you for your videos!

You’re welcome. I really like steel cut oatmeal, but it seems like such a waste of resources to cook it over fire for half an hour. I’ll have to try it in a thermos and see how it comes out.

Thanks for the review. Just bought a thermos food jar and impressed it can be used to make rice. Also 15 bean and sausage soups sounds delicious.

The soup is good, and it’s cheap. Look for Hambeens 15 bean soup mix at your local store. They even have it at Walmart. This thermos is excellent and retains heat longer than a lot of more expensive food jars. It also fits in lunchbox. And has that nifty spoon.

Very good. You can cook the rice in it. You probably could cook a little protein such as chicken in it with the rice
@hoohoohoblin
@hoohoohoblin Месяц назад
I’ll have to try that. I think the meat would have to be heated up rather than put in cold. Maybe if you boil the meat with the water so that it’s all boiling hot, then pour it in with the rice it would work.
@marianmurphy4625
@marianmurphy4625 Месяц назад
@hoohoohoblin Yes. That's a good idea. That's what I'll do. I'll boil a little water with the meat in a saucepan and put both into the food flask. I noticed the food flask (I think it was the Thermos) in Aldi and thought it was a little expensive for such a small flask, but I didn't realise it could cook food. I'll be watching out for one, in Aldi, or somewhere else at a reasonable price.
@marianmurphy4625
@marianmurphy4625 Месяц назад
@hoohoohoblin Warm the flask when you get it first, in warm but not boiling water, to prepare it, after cleaning probably with a little bicarbonate of soda. Lukewarm or warm water can be left in it for some time before using it to warm it. According to a video I saw, it keeps hot better if the water has been cooled a little when using it. I forget if this is referring to the food or drinks flask. I must have another look at that video channel

I tested my thermos food flask I preheated the flask with fresh boiled water for a good ten mins beforehand and after 24 hrs I found the water warm not hot so the 24 hrs hot on label on mine clearly ain’t accurate but in saying that soups usually contain solids veg etc which can store up heat like heat sinks do that may play a role in extending the length of time staying hot

i'd like to see a rest without adding boiling water first. when i'm packing my two kids lunches in the morning the last thing i need is extra work.

So hard to trust manufacturer specs anymore, things get more expensive and decline in quality. In Canada these are $35 and up. I'd be careful buying the Thermocafe version which is not very good for any more than a couple hours, depending on ambient temperature.
@hoohoohoblin
@hoohoohoblin 2 года назад
I have the thermal café, and I use it to make steel cut oatmeal. That takes about an hour and a half to cook, so it’s perfect for that use. I haven’t tried cooking rice in it yet. Don’t know how long it would stay hot.

Bowl is too small I find, I feel a bit goofy using it, and I hate plunging the spoon into the jar cause the bouth is not wide enough. The stanley is a bit better in terms of ergonomics.

I have a Stanley food flask and cannot get the rice at all just won’t work , tried few different measures even 1/4 water 1 cup rice
@hoohoohoblin
@hoohoohoblin 6 месяцев назад
That’s strange. Make sure that the water is boiling, and that you put boiling water in it to preheat it, then dump the water out, then put the rice and more boiling water in, and it should work. It takes about 4 to 4 1/2 hours. The Stanley has better insulation than the thermos, so it should keep the heat in enough to cook the rice.

Hi ! Good channel. Just found it. I have a question about this thermos. I have the same one but if you look at the bottom, it looks like there's a layer of some Clear material (... exactly at the bottom in center...where we can see our reflection as if in a little hole covered with Plastic ... even if foodgrade?) Can you tell me if you understand what I'm talking about and why it looks like Plastic.. or some other clear material at the bottom ? May be you noticed that if you touch it you'll see it's a bulge like a little dome. It'd be so great if you can answer this Doubt of mine. My mom got this little container several years ago and I haven't used it yet! Thank you so much for such videos. 🌷
@hoohoohoblin

I think that’s where they vacuum all of the air out of a little hole and then plug it. That little circle is a plug that needs to stay in place so that there is a vacuum inside of it. I’m talking about a plug on the bottom on the outside of the thermos.
@ishanabhavsar
@ishanabhavsar Месяц назад
@@hoohoohoblin hi. Thanks. But I'm talking about the inside. Where we can feel a little dome and see our reflection ... in like 3d... which isn't possible with just one layer. Looks like some other material at the bottom of the inside
