BRO YOU USED THE MAGNET TRICK, LOVE IT. Also VERY VERY SMART TO TAKE THE HOUSING OFF WITH THE HOSE STILL ATTACHED ON THE THERMO. SIDE. GREAT FIX BC. AS USUAL, LOVE THOSE VALVE COVERS, NICE.

You are really good at every video you post, you have no idea how helpful these are. I have been following you for a while. Thanks very much. I replied to you in a separate video where you replaced the water pump. I also have a 1997 Jeep GC 5.2L. I have had issues with thermostat housing gasket leaks for a while. I noticed you did not use RTV sealant. I am going to give that a try, may be that is the issue.

Thank you. I always put the gasket on bone dry but it is a good ideo to use a little rtv to paste it to the thermostat housing so it doesnt move around on you when you lower it into position. I just didnt have that for this video but Ive never had it leak. I did have Coolant leaking from where the hose connects to the thermostat housing which made it look like a gasket leak but no matter how tight I made the clamp it still leaked, so I pulled it back out and wrapped some self fusing silicone tape where the hose meets the thermostat housing and then tightened the clamp over top of that and its been leak free ever since. Very good video and description of parts used. I love the idea of leaving the hose on the metal housing makes the job a lot easier. Keep up the great work !

Hahaha! Finally, I did this before you! When I got my ZJ I had a small leak in one of the hoses so i replaced both! I replaced the thermostat also. I was super upset that there was that crappy green trash coolant in my engine. Got the proper gold coolant, but not OEM I used Zerex concentrate with distilled water. Factory thermostat was 210° wasn't it? I replaced with 210° i almost feel like I should've used a 180° that they tried giving me. It was a pain in the ass getting those bolts back into the thermostat housing and even worse trying to get a new hose clamp on the lower hose going to the radiator! Great video tho bro!

Great video! I’m about tired of fixing my 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee! It has a blown head gasket and I came to video to see how to take out the thermostat so I could use some of that head gasket sealer. I think I’ll just sell it though .

Hello, I have a 96 ZJ. I replaced the water pump, upper hose, bypass hose, and thermostat. While removing the water pump I damaged the metal hose/pipe that goes into the water pump heater hose or whatever I got the old one out and have the new one, do you have any suggestions to reinstall the new one Aside from removing the clutch fan? Thank you Everything else is still back together

Question. On the inner end of the hose where it connects to the thermostat housing mine don't have that metal strap thing that you can tighten down it's just got this weird metal ring thing with two metal tabs sticking out, there is some play in the tabs if I try to pry it loose with a screwdriver but the thing won't budge.

Yeah that’s a old school factory clamp you need a special tool get they off of just cut the helll at it till it comes off then replace with a new school hose clamp
