U can get chicken drumsticks for a dollar each or less and a kg is 8-14 pieces which is like $8-$14 and where I get organs there $5 a pound for beef liver, hearts, and tripe, which is like $15 for 3 pounds so for $22-$39 u get 5.4 pounds and u only need to add 33 grams of beef liver, kidney, and tripe each per 1000 grams (per a kg of meat) and you’ll have 1360 grams of organs (3 pounds) to supplement the chicken if you give 1 pound of chicken per a day to your dog it would cost you $4-$7 per a meal and to make it even cheaper u could mix in kibble or canned fish which costs like $1 for canned tuna/salmon which is 185g if you were to buy 10 cans for $10 it would be 1850 grams ( 1.85 kg, or 4 pounds) So if you were to add 4 pounds of canned fish with organs it would be $2.50-$3 per a meal if he eats a pound a day which depends on his size which would round off to $25-$30 dollars every 10 days or $75-$90 per a month and kibble usually costs around $50-$100 depending on quality but it’s usually filled with grain and shitty oil so you could buy a giant bag of rice and add good oils like extra virgin coconut oil, or extra virgin olive oil for $50 a year since it should last you a year if you only give 1-4 teaspoons of each I usually give my dog 2 tsp of olive oil and coconut oil. If you were to add chicken drumsticks ,organs, canned fish, rice, and oil with a small amount of veggies it would be a lot cheaper to feed raw/wet food, a 50 pound bag of rice only costs $20-$30 and when cooked it doubles in size so for $20-$30 u got 100 pounds of filler and if you were to use it and only use a ratio of 50 percent meat and 15-25 percent filler you would save 15-25 pounds per 100 pounds of meat you use with the rice as a filler I’m sure you could drop the total spending per a month to $30-$70 dollars a month compared to kibble even feeding a ratio of 50 percent rice and 50 percent meat is still better for your dogs health then kibble because dogs digest fresh and raw food much better you’d need double to triple the amount of kibble to get the same amount of nutrients from raw due to absorption. After buying rice, canned fish, chicken drumsticks, organs, and oils, if you manage to save enough you could buy a kg of of organic moringa, organic spirulina, and organic bone broth for $20-$30 each which will supplement them for atleast a year . ACV is really dirt cheap too. And I manage to get 1lb of raw beef bones for a $1 each. + a dozen of eggs is less then $5
While I continue to educate myself on raw, I feed half the recommended dry food which is Orijen so one cup for each of my large breed dogs. Then I do a cup of my own slow cooked beef or chicken with veggies. But I now am changing to raw and will give organs, muscle meat and raw meaty bone (obviously not all at once) to get them use to the raw. But in this video you said not to do organs and kibble. But how do you transition then? Seems like when I think I am getting the hang of it I find I am doing something wrong.
I started my puppy on Orijen Grain Free High Protein Fresh & Raw Animal Ingredients Dry Puppy Food. The ingredients sound like they are really good (considering it’s a kibble), and I add things like salmon, sardines, herring, broth and yogurt (not all at once). In a perfect world I’d be able to feed a raw diet but there isn’t a lot of meat options where I live & I know I couldn’t give him a complete profile of the nutrients he needs. So I do the best I can
I've read in the Book: "Canine Nutrigenomics: The New Science of Feeding Your Dog for Optimum Health" that you should never feed your dog raw fish. But if that fish has been frozen correctly why should it be a problem? The book mentions some parasites called "flat worm parasites", which can make your dog very ill, but again, if fish can be eaten raw by humans why not dogs too? Are there any other reasons why dogs can't eat raw fish, or is it only that particular parasites? Thanks in advance!
Dogs eating dry food is the equivalent of us eating cardboard with vitamins, we aren't meant to digest that just like they aren't meant to digest burnt grain/potato nuggets. Humans would digest dog food better than dogs which is ironic. Feeding our dogs like a zoo feeds their animals should be normalized, not kibble. If a lion was fed meow mix most of its life people would riot. Why not hold pets to the same standard? It's not like their digestive systems changed much from their wild cousins.
That border collie looks exactly like mine ! Question I feed commerical raw (big country raw ) and add in on a daily basis one chicken feet or chicken neck or rabbit foot. Any risks with that
BCR should have the recommended amount of minerals that bones provide in it already as they include bone in their formula, so I wouldn't feed them daily
I am a vegan but somehow you manage to present this raw diet as something that looks like it makes sense, more sense than overly processed foods. I am not sure if I am the fit to feed a raw diet for a carnivore animal, but for sure I will look for more ways to improve the kibble my doggo eats.
Two of my three small dogs are allergic to chicken. That means no chicken necks, no chicken feet. It makes it a lot more challenging to find raw meaty bones that are sized for them. I'd love it if you produced some videos specific to feeding small breed dogs because there are some significant challenges in feeding them. Just as an example, I have to measure ingredients in teaspoons or grams, to make serving sizes small enough for them to not become obese. Most of the advice that is given online and in books just relates to big dogs.
Quail is a great alternative :) I don't have a small dog but I do have cats. What my friend did with her small raw fed dog is take a raw cat food recipe and tweak it to match what a dog needs (mainly more bone content and some pureed veggies!)

raw meaty bones can be a little pricey, so you suggest any other kind of bones/things to chew on? i recently got my dog beef esophagus and she seems to like it, would those be a good supplement?
I can totally understand why you say that wet food is better than kibble, but all the pet nutritionist I know say the opposite. I'm a bit confused, is any scientific literature out there?
There’s not a lot of research on raw because it’s expensive to research and most raw feeders are small companies. But I’ve met few certified canine nutritionist that believe in raw. For me, i think both kibble, raw or cooked is fine as long as they’re balanced according to your dog age. However, kibble is a highly processed food for convenience. And if humans are encouraged to eat less processed food & more fresh food, why is it different for dogs? Plus, there are plenty of research done on bacteria contamination in kibbles, just like raw meat if not handled properly. Just do what suits us, and balance & hygiene is key for me
I'd like to know what they say about it, but it could be because not all of them are balanced and formulated to AAFCO's standards, but most are - just check the label! Some can be higher in fat as well.
Also a Lot of research they source from is actually done by large kibble manufacturers who, since they are businessmen and want to sell their goods, aim to turn people away from raw - because it makes them lose customers.
The only negative I hear about wet is that it's bad for teeth and might make stool too soft. There are ways around that without having to feed kibble though but kibble companies and sponsors won't give you the answer they'll just say feed dry to solve the issue. Dry is cheaper to make and a bigger industry.

You'd have to figure out your kitten's intake per their weight and caloric intake, then compare that to NRC's recommended intake for calcium/phosphorus/magnesium for kittens. Really appreciate this video! I would love to feed my dog raw meaty bones for the dental benefits and enrichment, but she is mainly kibble fed (Fromm food). If I start giving them to her about 3 times a week, will it give her digestive upset?
You've probably already worked out the answer in your particular case by now, but if not, I'm guessing 2-3 times a week would be a great addition to your dog's nutritional profile. It might even make the digestion better, as well as the overall health. Been feeding our dog raw meaty/fatty bones 5-6x a week for 3 months with only positive results. Best of luck.
I'm having trouble getting my dog Anubis to eat he was a stray and was very under weight he would eat all his food now I gave him wet and dry food but I switch to only dry and he wasn't eating then I had to buy wet food again he was eating it at first but now he doesn't want to eat as much I'm try this with his dry food and see if he starts eating
This is probably a stupid question but would feeding my dog goat milk/kefir frozen in molds still be hydrating? Just because it’s frozen and in solid form doesn’t mean it’s no longer hydrating does it ? Lol
I cook for my 2 fur babies & also add to their food a powder that has vitamins, pre & probiotics & omegas. Also, give them a dab of coconut, flax seed & hemp oil. I also add either pumpkin or plain yogurt. Going to start giving them frozen raw chicken wings a few times a week after watching this video. Thanks for sharing!
