My PUG experience as a tank often includes a DPS telling me to pull more -> me saying no -> them pulling an additional pack -> them dying -> them leaving.

I can't count how many times I've been blamed for choosing a PUG friendly route as a tank. Without risky skips, big pulls, pulling the pack which need more time, but do less damage or just 2-3% more trash to not accidentally pull in the boss fight... 20 keys... still in time or +2. And I'll go mad if the 3rd Holy Priest is rejected instead of just starting.

The biggest issue for myself as a healer is that people that I am playing with are kneecapped by knowledge of where the damage comes from and dont even attempt to reduce the damage that is incoming and thus put themselves in the position where they get destroyed on higher keys. For example, missing kicks, lack of defensives. I cannot tell you the amount of times I have done a fort 20+ BRH (A incredibly easy key) for time. However, people on the first few pulls do not kick to stop the casts, do not use defensives to reduce the dot damage. Then there are 15+ deaths even before the first boss because they get hit twice by casts in the same second which kills them and then they leave and blame the healer / person that is dying thinking they should be the one doing something different and playing better. Also, lower keys sub 20, the damage is not punishing enough to teach people where their mistakes are. For example, Yasma and Priestest in atal. Here the damage below the 20s are not punishing but once you start getting above 20s, if they are not topped between each ability the person getting targetted by wracking pain or transfusion will just die. Where as in a sub 20 on even tyrannical, the damage is not relevant and could be at 50% hp and getting targetted by a wracking pain and get hit and still not die. The issue is that most times for many people is surviving mechanics and then having enough damage to confortably time the key.

Heal is not only not a "fake" role but is also the most difficult one nowadays. Whether melee or ranged, healers not only have the same mechanics as the rest of the team, but also sometimes their own mechanics exclusive to healers, as well as dispells and also participating in stops, CCs and helping with DPS in their spare time.

Tank dying with all defensive: JUST STFU AND HEAL, Melee eating every frontal: JUST STFU AND HEAL. RDPS dpsing in fire: JUST STFU AND HEAL. Rogue not kicking at all: JUST STFU AND HEAL. After failing the key: HEALER YOUR DPS TOO LOW. I can keep going.

Man, the narrative and hook-up worked awesome, brought some great laugh. The topic is so relatable tbh, I hear a lot of this bs, especially about tier lists. Our dude from discrod dont want to play 20+ on his arms warrior because he thinks that warriors are dogcrap and do zero dps, ignoring the fact that he for sure passes the dps bracket.

I almost quit healing this season mainly because of pugs in low keys, you have no idea how many times a dps quits because he dies multiple times FOR NOT INTERRUPTING or for failing a mechanic and of course it's always the healer's fault lol

As a new player into the mythic scene started truly playing late December a d started as a tank and am able to tank 18 keys and 19 keys havnt tried a 20 tho I think I could do a 20 fall. The main issue I have when tanking is figuring out what type of pulls you do some love big risky pulls even if the healer hasn't said they want them. Me personally unless the healer says something I will pull 2 packs (depending on the key) and then when they get low on health I move onto the next pack or 2. I went from not knowing how to tank to tanking 18 and 19s in under 2 weeks has it been easy no. It's hard to learn when everyone likes to do it differently. One thing that has helped me is I listen to the healer mainly if the healer tells me to slow down or to speed up I do. I've also started healing keys on a broker and it's made me respect healers more as well dps seem to not like to do mechanics I haven't played much this week with sanguine and volcanic but I foresee a week of dps standing in sanguine and getting hit by volcanic if they are ranged. I havnt found my experience super toxic but if you play tank and healer you need to have a thick skin because dps can be quite toxic and rude. In the end it's just a game anyways so not worth getting your panties in a bunch

lowkey i've just been doing keys up to +14 as aug, and i havent experienced anything bad tbh. for the first time, i think m+ is really fun!

As someone who FULLY pugged 0.1% achievement in season 1 Dragonflight, let me tell you this. Mythic+ is in a horrible state 😂 if you start playing 2 weeks after, all the good players are already in the 0.1% cutoff and you have to play with low rio pugs. Which is horrible and they tend to leave, rage etc. As a DPS you cannot get into keys either unless playing meta, so you have to play your own. And if by any chance you manage to push your key into barely good looking key for better players and you don’t time it? You are back at the level of a key that most pugs can’t play, but the top players won’t join, because now it is too low. So you have to wait 1-2 hours for people to even sign up for it and then you often demote it in the first 5 minutes just to do it all over again 😂😂 But! I had no such issue during S1. Why? It was so well balanced that everyone was able to play. There was not a single spec I didn’t play with in the 0.1% keys. Now it’s just meta meta meta slavery. 😅

The first point made here about melee being harder to play is up each persons view but saying 'playing ranged or a simpler class opens up other responsibilities ' is a very big assumption to make. Most people likely choose something easier for exactly the opposite reason, to avoid having to deal with extra stuff.

I was pushing keys during Legion, stopped and played in the middle of BFA where I legit was asked about my RaiderIO score on +7. Bad players should not have the access to judge people

was laughing hard when you talked about the healers... I'm a healer too and I always get called stupid and I follow along but in reality I follow the rotation of 4 people and if they mess up at any moment I have my finger on a defensive to keep them up. it's more like. follow everything and make sure you're like 10 secs ahead. but ye... the healing part is easy I guess as it's mostly just setting up and have plan B's and C's ready on the fly. honestly saying MDI is impossible is also an excuse. if you're willing to adapt you can do those pulls. even on the highest lvs in pugs people never set up interrupts/ stun rotations. it's a small change but no1 wants to do it. that's why I stopped being serious becaus ethe mentallity isn't there. only toxicity and ego

I would love to start playu as Tank but... i am struggling to find people newbie like me to have fun not try hard, just trying higher keys, learn, calm playing. Everything must be meta right now, composition tactics etc. Jesus, people pull stick from anus

Not sure about melee-ranged discussions, but I swapped from dh to mage and evoker and went from 19-20 to 23-24. Its much easier to play when you dont have 6 mobs and their nameplates, frontals, and chandaliers in your face. Love my vdh and ranged, but I dont think I'll play melee in m+ ever again.

If I see another sub +25 key demanding an Aug I'm going to lose it.

My experience as a healer: *dps dies* I say "you had to use defensives there" dps says "gg healer can't hold the healing" or something like: *group wipes coz we didn't kick boss (AD)* I say "you have to kick the boss there, please" tank says "I don't need your negativity in my life" and kicks me..

lmao what? Ranged is wholly easier than melee - this isn't a myth lmao. Having more utility and buttons to press to help the group doesn't make it harder to play. You're at range, you don't need to deal with chip damage and half the mechanics that go out. You get invited to press those buttons you have that melee don't. I have a 3K mage and two 3K melee's, the melee are harder and it isn't close.

I thi k you misinterpreted what "damage is the only thing that matters" means. It means, that this is a speedrunning competition. If you dont deal damage, you dont win the race. Thats why healers and tanks should be concerned about how much dps they are pulling. A lot of people think that healers should only heal. But none of those people think the DPS should just DPS

I don't know where these ever came from... I've never heard ANY of these "lies" listed. I've been playing up to r1 world keys in Legion n high keys through every expansion. I've played multiple alts and pug through low and high keys. Never heard anyone say "ranged is easier" or healing is "fake" (except for Legion, when u just went 4 DPS cuz healer was useless to have). Dmg doesn't "matter more than anything else", as long as there's enough TOTAL dmg from everyone. Look at aug for instance. Anyone should know that right? Regarding meta shit, no one really cares at the end of the day. And regarding complicated BIS routes to time keys? I mean, it depends on the level of the key. If it's top keys, u might need some special route for some certain instances, but most are just hold W and 123 these days.
