Technically, it’s unethical. But the company is the one that done it. The person offering it is caught in the middle. It’s not the paid spokesperson fault, it’s the company. Now even if it’s not illegal, is it ethical?

as an actor, i’ve had roles where you actually can’t say anything to people if they ask you about them under a contract. which is why they couldn’t comment. Its really stict and you can get in a lot of trouble for revealing production details and such

I think it was BuzzFeed that did an experiment where they hire a bunch of similar actors to find out how far they would be willing to go to get the endorsement job. It was great seeing that more people than I expected refused to lie about products that were clearly questionable.
