The "47% through kickin your ass" references a thing Mitt Romney said prior to that election that amounted to "47% of Americans don't pay income tax" and it was a point of contention during their campaigns That's why Mitt said "that 40% thing got you real mad" in his next line twisting it it into that '40% decent parents' thing like everyone else is sayin the comments haha

I have a theory on why the presidential battles are always so good and brutal....it's because they don't have to stray far from the things they already say about each other during the elections. American Presidential elections already provide a ton of battle rap material because these days they are very similar to rap battles.

Fun Fact: Obama's 47% bar starts 47% into the original video. It might be intentional, it might not, but it's interesting regardless

Abe has been on ERB 3 times in full appearances, not counting for Cameos like he had in Vader v Hitler 3 and in Churchill vs Roosevelt. His initial appearance in Abe v Norris, his second appearance here in Obama v Romney and his final (At time of writing) full appearance in Hillary vs Trump.

"I fought for what I believed in until a bullet went through it." is still probably one of my favorite lines in all of ERB.

Oh acording to Epiclloyd, the original bar was "Been 4 years and you haven't dropped unemployment below 8%" But then unemployment dipped just before they recorded it.

The "47%" thing was about Mitt being recorded talking about how he doesn't care about roughly 47% of The population during the 2012 election because they pay no income tax and are just going to vote for Obama anyways. So when Mitt came in saying "40%" he was just referring to the incident and going off of what Obama said not trying to make it a completely mathematically accurate.

Good ole Abe has been on many ERBs, either as someone getting involved or in the background. Case in point, the Bill & Ted's ERB has Lincoln hanging out in the background with other ERB characters who were also in Excellent Adventure along with some ERB classic characters. Lincoln is almost always in political ones due to how legendary Abraham is as a President along with how well liked this rendition of him is. Can I give you an exact number? No. I'm guessing however it's around 10.

Alphacat was, by far, my favorite Obama impressionist. The fact that Crosson met Obama irl and was doing his impersonation bit just adds so much to his resume. If you haven't seen his Obama raps, check them out. The first one I ever watched was one where he announces the death of bin Laden. The "Two Terms!" line was incorporated into his Obama victory rap.

The silver spoon bar goes so hard. One of the biggest complaints about Romney was how he acted like he earned everything when he was born super rich. So saying "yeah, im spoiled with daddys money, but i did something with it" always gets me

I think the 40% line about the parents was basically to say that he didn't even have one decent parent.

Scru - The 47% or 40% isn't a race shot. It's a reference to a private fundraising dinner Romney held during the campaign, where he got caught saying that 47% of voters wouldn't vote for him no matter what. So, in ERB, Barack said he's 47% through whipping his ass, and Mitt said the thing about decent parents.

The 47% comment refers to Romney saying 47% of Americans pay no income taxes, and after he said it news outlets ran that as a story for a straight week.

Legit one of the best verse transitions in any Rap battle on RU-vid, and it gets fucking wild with the bars.

When you run out of ERBs, I recommend checking out the Flash in the Pan Hip-Hop Conflicts of Nowadays on ERB2. Basically, they're just 3 sort of "low-budget" battles that Peter and Lloyd did while ERB was on hiatus, two of which didn't get the full battle treatment. Nonetheless, they're solid battles: Pewdiepie vs. T-Series Larry Bird vs. Big Bird Ronald McDonald vs. The Burger King That last one did have some differences from its final form (most notably the absence of Wendy), so you could even check that one out just to compare and contrast some of the disses that were changed.

He also may have appeared in the Background of Peter vs. Lloyd 1. Alot of the early character did, but I don't recall if Abe was one of them off the top of my head.

I watched this one when it first came out. Damn it was dirty back then with all that mudslinging lol. A lot of it just doesn't have the same punch now that history has already played out. It's still one of my favorites, tho. I would LOVE to see you go back and re-visit ERBs you've already done. I'm really curious what additional jokes and punches you'll catch as well as if your opinions of them have changed. Little bit of trivia, Nice Peter and Epic Lloyd had to come into the studio super early on the morning they were supposed to start filming to re-record a line because it was originally "it's been four years and unemployment's still not below 8%" but when they woke up that morning the news broke that unemployment had finally hit that goal and they knew the audience would roast them if they didn't change it. 🤣 Also it's not music related, but I'd love to see you react to comedy sketches, too. I know you're a fan of Key and Peele and I'd really enjoy seeing you react to them.

This was one of my favourite ERB's behind stalin vs rasputin. Obama got the win for me but it was pretty even, and I loved the disruption of Abe dropping in and spitting off lines against both of them.

Lincoln has been in every presidential election battle. Always dropping in to smack both candidates. Also the "EAGLE!" line was completely improvised by Nice Peter the first time. They were struggling to find a rhyme with "people" and eagle just popped in, and they've been using that ever since.

I feel like so much gets missed from this if someone wasn't paying attention to President Obama's first term. Guantanamo Bay was something P. Obama campaigned on during the first election promising to shut it down. "But like Guantanamo Bay they're both open" The air quotes around the 8% line is a subtle implication about the 8% was false. During P. Obama's term, the Dept of Labor changed how they calculated unemployment: by omitting people who were able to work but stopped looking for work. ....that is when unemployment supposedly went below 8%. So IMO Romney won by pointing out P. Obama's professional failures where P. Obama's insults were just making of his name, color, wealth etc.

Love to see a redo of the Alexander the Great vs Ivan the Terrible battle, the original was how I discovered the channel and I feel like that's one of the battles that has the most easily missable references throughout.

Abraham Lincoln vs. Chuck Norris. Crazy matchup, no reason for them to battle. Instant classic. First appearance of Abraham Lincoln, and a really early battle, but in my opinion this is the first episode where they truly found their groove. Also it explains the “Chuck fucking Norris” bar in the first Nice Peter vs. Epic Lloyd battle.

I believe Boba Fett is the only character to rap in exactly two battles as well.
