Yeah. I am on two betrayals currently. It seems to be fairly stable as well. Normal is like heroic on other halo's. I don't want to know what LASO would be like. It's really fun figuring out the potions. My only real gripe is the auto equip on pickup for the potions.

100% agree on custom campaigns. I want to see modders do adaptations of the books and create original stories. Still waiting for someone do a Contact Harvest campaign where you play as Sgt. Johnson and follows the characters of Johnson and Dadab (similarly to how halo 2's story is set up).

The mod I remember coming back to was the Killtrocity map pack for Halo 2. Tons of custom levels I wished I could play but never had the means. I would LOVE to see them make their way into MCC!

I definitely recommend the ultimate firefight sandtrap mod. It’s not just a multiplayer map port to odst, it’s a full fledged firefight with allies, boss battles and more. Well worth the download, there’s a reason it’s so popular on the workshop, no clue why it’s not on this list tbh

I remember playing on a map for Halo Custom Edition which had a flyable escape pod. People used to get on and spend like 20 minutes flying to the moon, which turned out to be a flat sprite once you got to it! 😆

The H3 forge with the Scarab makes me want to make a custom game where it's slayer/CTF like normal, but a random AI Scarab drops on the map and just obliterates anyone it can. Not only do you have to kill the enemy team, but you have to take out the Scarab as well. Maybe something like the team that kills the Scarab gets an extra 15 or 20 points or something. Sounds like fun

10:59 A similar mod to Halo CE+ that I feel should be mentioned is Combat Revolved, which aimed to kind of refresh the Halo Combat Evolved experience with a bunch of cut content added. For example there are 2 Covenant weapons added that were originally going to be in the game as well as the flamethrower. Another thing I like about this mod is the environmental storytelling it has. For example in The Library mission, there is Covenant fighting the Flood, and sometimes they will help you fight the Flood as well. Not to mention all the added Covenant equipment and such in all the levels.

I remember having to mod my Xbox with Mechassualt then having to move files from there to the PC to modify and port back to the Xbox. Good times being only a select number of early modders to play with the community online.

I'd love to see y'alls take on Halo CE's The Silent Cartographer Evolved. It's a full reimagining of The Silent Cartographer, meant to feel familiar, but brand new. It's one of the most underrated H1 mods out there IMO.

One mod I would recommend is halo 4 reflow, it turns down the annoying bloom, makes the game more fun and with some quality of life tweaks turns halo 4 into a really good game

I remember this one custom edition map with battle tech Mechs that played power rangers music when you drove them. And, the original huge grass.. the first time I saw that longsword nuke was awe inspiring.

There was a few Halo CE mod from early days of YT, back when Google Video was the way to find videos. One was a war with hundreds of Grunts, 4 colours, on Blood Gulch with Blow Me Away playing. That memory will never die. The second, was a massive, and I mean MASSIVE map! It was a pair of bases, the bases were the Longsword hanger from the end of the campaign, with all the vehicles including a Longsword you could pilot, and between the bases was a massive open playing field so large it couldn’t render the full draw distance between the two bases. I would love to find both of those mods, or just videos one day!

Some of the old custom campaign levels for Custom Edition are great and worth playing through and better than a lot of the more recent official Halo content despite being made many years prior on older hardware by individual fans. There's a campaign where you play as an ODST, another called Lumoria, loads of single campaign levels of varying kinds and there were even firefight maps. I've even seen some stuff from older games back ported to CE too. It's a shame a lot of people won't get to see a lot of this stuff that's either been lost to time or can't be seen by people who don't play custom edition.

My favorite was the Halo CE Dev tools that allowed you to FREEZE TIME. I loved freezing it, then going up to a squad of Grunts and unfreezing it and seeing their reaction of me teleporting around and dodging bullets like it's the Matrix LOL

I want to shout-out something from the days of Halo 2 that may still be the best "mod" I've ever played. Killtrocity Map Pack v1 and v2. These were so impressive that I still remember them all of this time later. I think I still have v2 installed on my softmodded Xbox.

But I hope for Halo 2 Uncut 2 when we get the stuff Delta Dig is working on... God knows half the community is salivating at the prospects of what we'll get from both Digsite Alpha and Delta.

I will never forget Hugeass. As a kid, it was a very exciting moment for me when I finally got it to work on Halo Custom Edition, thanks to my friend on some help with that. Was great until it made my crappy HP laptop running on Windows XP blow up. Lol I can still smell the cooked graphics card. Good times; remember making a few maps with Halo Map Tools or something.

I really miss the days of the original Halo 1 and how fun it was to play online and the community it built, back then i was part of a clan we had loads of members and a forum where we could chat and organised stuff even using Team Speak so we could add voice chat before games had that but sadly you just do not see the level of community now in games, and then out came Halo Custom Edition that brought a whole new level to the game and the fun part is it was created officially as the developer wanted people to build anything they could imagen and you just do not see that any more and all games are locked down and even ones with map builders are locked to set content. There where many fantastic maps my fave has to be zombie survivor and there where other maps with hidden teleports and i remember playing huge ass as it was fun to fly around in the various air craft there was also another i forget then name of but it was a massive snow map with a walker armed with a nuke rail gun man that was fun

I played sooooo much Halo Custom Edition back in the day. I really wish the modding scene would once again be heavily supported like during the early 2000's. The juggernauts of modding back then, Half-Life and Unreal Tournament, have left a legacy far outliving their original titles; imagine if there was a renaissance and all the great ideas that would spawn from it. Full games spawned out of modding after all; Counter Strike, Killing Floor, DOTA, etc etc.
