For a shoot my friend Matt and I were figuring out what to style him in and he called those infamous white tanks a "wife respecter". I have never appreciated a name change more than that one right there. With that said, great wife respecter you got there.

Forgetting to rewind happens. You should develop the roll though, the light will only fry a few frames, and can create some interesting light leak effects. Some photographers intentionally open the camera mid-roll.

I've actually only shot two rolls of Portra because Gold (and ColorPlus when I can get it) do just fine for me, and I can't justify almost twice the price. UltraMax wasn't my favourite, but I'm happy to put some of that down to me and try it again.

I've been pushing colorplus to 400 recently, you properly get that "film" look that way AND you get the extra speed

Shot a lot of colorplus a couple of years ago (like 20 rolls), mostly because I stilled tried to get a grip around analog photography and film is not particularly cheap, but also because my Minolta a9 (also known as dynax or maxxum) chew through film at an alarming rate. My conclusion of it were that in good lighting the film worked fairly well, but as soon as you underexposed the image slightly (or shoot indoors) you got wierd color shifts. I guess it works better in areas with more sun than it does here in Sweden. I loved shooting Fuji superia 200 and cried for a week when it was discontinued. Loved the vibrant greens when taking photos in the woods and fields.

Xactly why my fav is Fuji C200, i can get a roll for 5 bucks and its just prime, gave gold a shot because of the vid, wonder how it will look when it comes back from the lab

I've really been vibing with Lomo 400 recently, quickly surpassed Fuji Superia to become my favorite 400 speed film stock. It might not be as cheap as Superia, Ultramax, Gold, etc, but it's cheaper than portra and delivers spectacular results (that said, I've never been a huge fan of portra 400 in my hands).

Solid video brother, I've been walking around with film and I love not having the instant gratification like digital. Don't get me wrong I love having that most of the time but maybe it's the nostalgia too, like watching my parents wait for their prints to come back and you all sit around and go through them. It's crazy too that you're from Detroit and sound like Big Sean!

Unfortunately Kodak is not capable of producing enough of this cheap stocks to keep up with demand, it´s almost impossible to find Gold and Colorplus at their fair price tag

Great that you are Detroit. I was born in Detroit a long time ago (Truman was prez). I learned my street photography in Detroit. For a while I was a photographer for the J. L. Hudsons department store magazine (60's). I do love Detroit, it is a great city that is facing hard times, but, it will be good. Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings, my family and I still cheer for them. You got me thinking about spending a few days shooting Detroit and Windsor. Welcome to the "Oops" club. Happens to all of us many times during our lives.

You should check out Kodak Proimage 100. To me, it feels like the same color look of Colorplus, while I feel like Gold and Ultramax are more similar. Great video! :)

Similar shit happened to me when I visited houston. Was taking some pictures in a museum and it thought I was taking some good shots. Only to find out that the film didn't grip on correctly. Opened the camera and saw that there was some film that had rolled up, but I exposed the film. I put another roll of film and it did the same shit again. Two rolls of Portra wasted, now I have to make sure that the film grips correctly. All this on my Olympus om-4

I've done that before in a dim hospital lobby and lost only two pictures, believe it or not. The camera was strange and I hadn't used it before, so I wasn't sure if the rewind was actually working. I opened it a crack, saw the film was still wound, and closed it as fast as possible. I ended up figuring out the mechanism and rewinding it properly, and when I developed it it was almost all fine. The only frames with visible light leaks were so bad they turned pure white. Every other frame seemed unaffected. Maybe there was extra grain or something, but nothing that actually looked like a leak.

Thank you! Yes the gun is necessary. I live in Detroit. The world isn’t a perfect bubble. I’m from the inner city I walk around with thousands of dollars worth of things on me. So yes it’s necessary. Also it’s just my right to have so I do.

Ironically they are only cheap because they are the most popular. We could get 120mm Ektar for $5 each but because film is only starting to hit mainstream again its $44

@@diegoborrajo1323 Just because your "fav youtubers" use it doesn't mean the reality is that porta is more popular. Kodak film production has been increasing 30-50% year on year. Its not og photographers buying its an entire new generation spear heading film sales. Hence why Fuji markets to 16+ People are buying what gives them the most shots per roll per dollar not what is "best". If Portra truly sold more than everything else its price would reflect that. On top of that your "argument" only applies to 35mm film. For 120 Portra 100 is hands down the cheapest option. In fact its so cheap a roll of even Portra 800 here costs less than half the price of the cheapest Kodak 35mm film. I can get an entire box for $40-$50

@@ReclusiveEagle My point was that not necessarily there is a correlation between scale of production and price. At least in Europe every single film stock has risen in price over the past few years, even when film has gotten more popular. Colorplus used to be around 4€ (you could get deals of 3 rolls for 10-11€) and now I can't find it for less than 5. There are other factors, like availability and price of certain materials like silver and pigments that vary the price of film, that's why Fuji has had to discontinue some filmstocks even with higher sales. I was just pointing out that the logic of more sales = lower price is not a rule always followed with film. Porta is more expensive not because it is bought less but because it is just a better filmstock, and it requieres better materials and machinery to be produed.
