Fun fact about the Samurai, they were bowmen before swordsman thus speeding their conversion to firearms. The katana you see so often was a sign of status more than anything, being a large reason why they were illegalized in the Meiji era.
@deadline93
@deadline93 2 года назад
Intrestingly Katanas only became populare at the end of the Sengoku jidai due to the expansion of the samurai class and more poor samurai who couldent affored war horses enterd service. Before this the prefeard sword where the tachi/odachi. A bit before the Edo era 4 casts where formed and only samurai where allowed 2 blades most samurai came from the new samurais of the sengoku jidai so the katana became a staple of samurai life. Also most samurai at this time if they ever ended up figthing would do so with the swords as warfare was preaty much over in japan untill 1853. Its wierd we think samurai where fixated on swords when thire prefeard weapon was always the bow and they where skilled horse archers.

The Serbian kid had a sad story. He watched his family die and was the onlye one left he wanted to fight in the war. At first the Serbian army didn't want to let him fight but he made his way to the battel feild and tryed to pick up a gun. To stop him from killing himself the Serbian army took him in where he had a big brother type thing going on with another soldier how gave his life to save the kid. The story is long and sad but it was a part of the Film King Petar about king Peter the first of Serbia. The movie also touches on King Petars opinion on becoming King since he didn't want that and felt guilt over the way he got the throne.

2:20 Nope, the Ottomans were relatively unique in their battle royal approach to inheritance. Europe had extremely complicated inheritance laws that were central to legitimizing rulership and only powerful factions could make a dent to support a claimant who is not first in line in most cases. The Ottomans basically let the princes openly assassinate each other, and a new ruler would execute or murder any surviving brothers he deemed any threat to his rule. China operated on a kind of appointment system where the Emperor picked the heir apparent among his sons, but ultimately kept the rest for spares, which left the door open for constant intrigue.
