I think the book holder is an “all three” for the table, dog bed, and sit stand desk. As already mentioned D&D books, etc. On the table side, it could hold reference materials that you would use at your computer/office desk on top of a “charging holder” for the tablets attached to the sit stand desk.

I personally would just do the cooling for the lillipup. Its much easier for me to toss a blanket into the bed if it gets chilly but I don't have cooling foam to throw in there, you know? Cooling my dog is harder than warming her.
@inventtory1272
@inventtory1272 2 года назад
I live in Texas so I definitely feel you, however I disagree. There's a lot of reason someone would want as much warmth as possible for their animals. Canada.. for example. Also short hair/ hairless breeds. Which is very common for small size pets. Or.. just cats in general.. That's why I push so strongly for cats to be considered with the lilpup. Cats have a very high general body temperature. Being able to hide in a small box but still be nearby your owner's feet with a warm pad is heaven for cats. And outright divine for hairless cats who are much more affectionate than people realize. (We're space heaters for them)

^ I get that Doug likes to joke, but he's been so vocal about how "evil" cats are & that the Lillipup is specifically not for cats. Now they want cat people's money (?), and we get products that feel like no thought went into them. 1. The disparity between cardboard vs. heirloom furniture 2. A bed shaped like a coffin? Why would I want to think about my pet being dead? *** (It would feel less insensitive IF they created the coffin scratcher for a Halloween/Corrupted collection, AND dogs ALSO had something creepy & Halloween-themed... this just felt out of nowhere + fueled by dislike for cats) I've bought several things from Wyrmwood... but needless divisiveness & alienation is a bummer and doesn't encourage my support. It seems like Doug's recently been a lot more flagrant about judging things without taking the time to listen or learn about other perspectives (I see why people may have been frustrated, why he felt he needed to step down). An episode or two ago, he had a whole thing about vegans not eating honey, acting like that's absurd & a fair exchange for "bee rent." I'm not vegan or vegetarian. I eat honey, but I'm not going to act like people who don't are unreasonable for doing so. They have reasons. TLDR: Human interference is harmful to bees. Bees are endangered. entomologytoday.org/2022/02/10/industrial-agriculture-honey-bees-peril/ academic.oup.com/jinsectscience/article/22/1/14/6523144?login=false sites.google.com/a/owu.edu/the-bee-s-knees/human-impact-on-bees. www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/oct/19/why-dont-vegans-eat-honey-google-questions **Doug, I think you're a solid guy, and I admire what you've built. A few thoughts for the wonderful Wyrmwood Team: 1). When I view a mock-up and evaluate the pros/cons of an architectural design, we try to make it as close to the final installation and constraints as possible whether it is a visual mockup or a performance mockup. I know it's not as easy to film but maybe do both: in situ (on floor) and abstract (on table). So next time, put the table on the floor with some chairs around it, maybe a couch. e.g. Will you bash the controller with your shins and knock it off? Sometimes dog treats smell funny; do you really want them in a location where you may be eating/drinking? 2). If you really have this many accessories, have you designed a good coffee table (with a dog bed in it) or is it just an expensive coffee table that doubles as an accessory holder? Me thinks it's just a pooly designed coffee table and to make it function as a well-designed, multi-function coffee table, you have to add all these other pieces that stick out of it like a Mad Max dune buggy. The beauty (and genius) of the MGT accessory scheme is that at the end of the day, you can stash the accessories BACK INSIDE and you have a beautiful dining table and you don't need cup holders on your heirloom furniture for it to function properly. 3). Most of the best dog beds come with a waterproof inner cover and then an outside cover that gets washed more often (puppies often have accidents and then later on, older dogs can have incontinence episodes too). I really appreciate the cooling and regular foam but will a waterproof cover diminish the effectiveness of the cooling foam since it's not really "breathable". A two-sided mattress is great idea, just maybe too much trouble and simplify things. 4). Toy Sack element works well, but probably b/c it has the least visual/spatial impact to the table. Could also hold a dog brush, remote controller...whatever. If it becomes an eyesore and you have a date coming over, you can just pop it off and throw it in the closet till they leave. (Use a black nylon net though, ok?) With the current design where the net dangles, is there a choking hazard for babies who are crawlers/early toddlers; maybe mount the net on a full height backboard and fasten the top and bottom of the net to the backboard? 5). Laptop/ipad holder is nice b/c a laptop is a large item that you may have out during the day but then want to move off if you want to have a snack or a meal while you watch TV but could that just as easily be a drawer or a vertical side pocket? 6). Your process it spot-on. The "What accessories can we offer" exercise if a very valid test to see 'what needed to be in the base design but was left out' and 'what needs to be a customizable offering for freaks who like to Mad Max their furniture'. Keep going. Good luck. Dan (Architect and Designer)

1) Think about adding a ledge for a headset to the controller hook. 2) A trough is a bad idea because you'll be forever having to dig in and find the remote, as opposed to just seeing and grabbing it. 3) Having spent years building cushions for furniture, putting a seem in the middle of the foam will ensure that it will split apart. With lighter dogs, it may be less of an issue, but still something to consider. All told, though, I love watching the design process. The folks you have making prototypes are outstanding.

8:20 Yes. Yes it will and that's regardless of what material you use. That's why it's important that no matter what it is all of it needs to be 100% non toxic to dogs, which is why the "gel" side concerns me greatly. You should also be concerned about digging (not just punctures from biting), as a lot of dogs like to "dig" on their beds. When I had them, my Huskies chewed their way through military grade parachute material in a week ( sewed it back up but they tore out a _BIG_ corner of the foam inside). My German Shepard and Lab have done the same thing. There is no such thing as tear/rip proof for dogs; if they want the fluffy innards of the bed, they're getting to the fluffy innards of the bed hell or high water. In fact the more difficult you make it to tear it open, I'm convinced that the dog see's it as an issued challenge rather than a deterrent.

Cushion for the dog should have a waterproof interior cover. That can be washed periodically. Outer cover washable. A three pack of sheets designed for the cushion is a win. What I use for my German Shepherd is a baby mattress that’s waterproof and have a bunch of baby sheets. They’re designed for baby puke, poop, pee. So they’re easily designed for a grooming dog that slobbers during the paw wash cycle. We swap these out regularly to clean. Otherwise it’ll stink up the room. People can buy the bed with waterproof cover, and sheet set separately is my suggestion

Great ideas with accessories! Good on Doug that he checked if the treat box was “doggie proof” and I think he should take that a step further and see if all the accessories are doggie proof. Controller holder for example is a great idea, yes its hard to rattle off but dogs are low to ground and use their noses. Could easily smack the controller up and off. Same scenario could apply to to a table/laptop holder or all the products. As a product designer my next step would be to test all the products with different size/temperaments of dogs to see how destructive they can be with all the modular accessories. p.s if my dog saw the toy sack, her head would be in it and if the magnets weren’t strong enough she would definitely be knocking it off and dragging all her toys around. An interesting solution could be use to use a dovetail rail instead of magnets to hold accessories.

1 - the remote holder: Widen it and girth it a smidge, so it can fit a book/magazine/comic or 2 as a dual function, make the divider optional (in or out) 2 - Trough urinals are pretty common in the UK. Most old pubs have them, and most dingy clubs have them. Do with that what you will.

That book/magazine holder is literally what I've envisioned as a module since I first heard of the MGT system. In-laws store their laptops on their sides. A single wide slot to hold a laptop, tablet or book. Add a second slot in front of that less deep and creatively divided to hold phone, remotes,...battery packs. The bottom is open slats to allow cords to fish from one slot to another include Velcro to tame lose cords hanging below. Make 2 versions with different # of slots. I'd use a cupholder for many things: Remote holder, joycon holder, twist top jar that fits in the cupholder for treats. For toy holder- you know blanket display holders?....a wood clamp that works on reusable shopping bags. You can supply your own bag to hang. Or find a nice plain canvas bag to use. Instead of the net bag, or the clunky remote holder, you should do small and large leather pouches, similar to the remote holders that are made to hang off of couch armrests.

Headset holder for the sit stand desk. Drives me crazy when it's not in use and it just adds clutter to my desk.

The controller holder should have a slit in the middle so that any bottom facing plug could still be attached when set down.

It would be cool if the controller (xbox/ps) accessory could charge the controllers, the TV remote accessory would fit the switch controllers and would be great for pens, and other writing instruments

If you're going with the coffin theme, make the main box the bed and then the lid could be the scratch pad

My question with the remote control holder is, why would you not want something more along the lines of the component organizer (gaming well, magnets in, geometry of cup holder, would work with desk) because in my mind anyway, most folks dont need a trough for tv remotes anymore. We have a single roku remote and thats it at my house. Just a thought. A gaming well type accessory to me would have alot more varied functionality on the gaming side as well (Component organizer XL, Large enough to hold writing utensils, etc.)

Switch fanperson here - if your pet is destructive, you’re not going to be in the market for a pet bed like this! Most people already know if their animal is going to destroy a bed like that or not before they’d invest in a piece of furniture for them.

My Pomeranian has opened backpacks and luggage before to get at snacks inside, def work out something else for the treat holder. My pom could also jump up on the couch and make the jump onto the table surface easily if he knew there was food to be had.

You could sell half size pads so that the customer can get 2 cooling or 2 regular or 1 of each. You could also sell all linen or all wool or half and half covers and let the customer mix and match pads and cover for a bunch of combinations.

yeah you should keep the magazine holder. it'll work for magazines and books, including (as others have pointed out) rule books for TTRPGs, making it very useful if it can also go on the MGT. tablet/phone/laptop holder isn't a bad idea, but either have two separate products or make sure it'll be good for books (etc) too.

That net thing might be a dog safety hazard. If you put toys that they want in there, they might get their paws or head stuck in the net trying to get to them, if you’re not monitoring them.

If you widen the magazine holder to like 12.5 inches you could also store vinyl records in it!!! 🎶

My thoughts on the accessories: Clutter Bag: F _ _ There's no way I'd want a bag of clutter that my dog will soon rip off the table to access what's inside. Total fail. Controller Dropper: D- _ _ Tap your knew on the edge of the controller once, and it's on the floor. Sure, if someone picks up the desk/table and shakes it, it's got a few seconds of hold, but if anything living in your house brushes past it too closely, it's floor time. It would be more secure if you stapled a cereal box to your desk and put your controller in that. Looks nice, but otherwise, it's a total fail. Remote Rack: B _ _ It's functional and generic. I'd put a slot near the bottom at the back for easy cleaning of dust, crumbs, Lego, etc that fall in there. Treat Hopper: F _ _ Just like the clutter bag, it'll be on the floor, contents dumped in no time. Even if you put a latch on it to keep them out, they'll pull it off and chew on it. Total fail. Electronics Rack: A _ _ Great product. Put a Remote Rack in the top portion and you've got a total win! Just make sure you can't bump it off by walking past it. Pet Pads: C- _ _ Cooling is "okay", but those covers need to be spill proof, otherwise the pad will soon be laced with drool, dander, hair, and stink. Easy enough to wash the cover, but those pads are a real pain (impossible) to clean. I think you'll need a more expensive cover to give the pad more longevity for your average pet. Cat Coffin: F _ _ Good luck! You've alienated yourself from cat lovers, and now you're trying to mock them with a "scratch post" that will likely cost more than what they can pick up locally. I doubt production would be worth your time.

I like the Cat Coffin, but hate the cardboard endgrain scratchies. My kitty had some scratch-cardboard a long while back. After we got rid of it, 6 months later we would still find pieces of cardboard under our furniture or suddenly in our carpet.

The magazine holder looks good, but yeah would prefer a tablet holder type thing but I guess it's just down to your imagination. I would consider it instead of thinking about magazines think of it as for storing kids books or maybe basic craft papers for drawing

I still think that the lilipup needs more ventilation cause the dog is actively adding heat to the equation constantly and that cooling foam is only going to be able to hold so much of it I just worry about in hotter climates dogs overheating because their is only one entrance for fresh air
