i like the voice over approach. But I feel more involved when both of you talk to the camera like you guys always do. The voice over is a good addition. Good job.

Well put. I like the "debrief" or "unpacking" segments more, but you guys found a good mix. If it helps you make content faster i'm ok with more voiceover, just don't forget the old style.

Digging the beauty shots with the synthwave vibe music. Engine bay looks great. Not 100% sure about the valve covers in the type-r look red. It looks unintentional as its tonally off from the body color red. Matte black(to match the mold in color black plastic bits under the hood) would look great next to the gloss black plug wire cover. Or maybe matte silver. Overall great job though.

I think the ceramic coating on the intercooler will have the opposite effect than what you're hoping for. It will insulate the intercooler and not allow as much heat transfer. Raw aluminum or anodizing would be the best options for an intercooler I would think?
@martynaspestininkas1856
@martynaspestininkas1856 2 года назад
Agreed, I also couldn't justify this decision. You want to loose heat to the atmosphere, not contain it.
@magnetic0314

In theory the best possible surface finish for shedding heat would be a raw media blasted/cast aluminum style finish. Maximum surface area for heat disappation

When I saw they coated the intercooler I cringed so hard. Made the intercooler useless.

"Never go in dry". Thats just good life advice Anything matte black shows scratches like crazy. Crappy part is regardless of how its applied there is no way to get rid of them. Matte car paint you can't buff out cause it goes to gloss. Powder coating, nothing matches. Even vinyl wrap. Not sure about the ceramic coating. I'm sure it's the same. I like the voice over mixed with some stoppage. I'm sure its easier to get more done without all the stop and go plus we still get to see everything.

The hose clamp on the fuel hat is a safety measure to prevent the hat from popping off on a hot day. Without the clamp the plastic can flex enough to bypass the threads especially when it's hot. A car parked in the sun can get very hot

I'm a Tiler by trade, and the fashion for the last few years has been matt and satin finishes, and yeah they just don't hold up, especially with metal trim pieces. Gloss finishes were created for reasons other than it looking shiny, and I will take the gloss option whenever I can, I suggest the same to everyone.

Getting together pretty nicely guys ! Ceramic coat over powder coat. Form follows Function. Little scratch don't mather when the hood is closed 😉 But I'm still surprised how fragile your coating is, I thought ceramic coating was suppose to be hard. 🤔 I guess Cerakote is not that great after all compare to normal ceramic coatings.

I Cerakoted for years! Mostly for the gun world but I also did some car/bike stuff. I would usually use a matte clear on top of the intake stuff for clients (it has a 300 degree Fahrenheit limit.) And it would help with reducing scratches. Cerakote it good but man will the matte scratch super easy in all applications... Satin was the happy medium it seemed. Great build! Can't wait to see the final product!

Well guys, you crushed another episode and I definitely really enjoy the voice overs on the B roll. Actually, I think this episode was a great mix of "real time" work and voice over for the more "run of the mill" type stuff! Great plug for the DEI looms, too. I'm flying out to California this Wednesday to pick up my next project car and I'm already building a list of companies and products that I'd like to use, based on your vids!

Team black here! Loving this build! RU-vidr know it all tip. Don't clean off the paint on your grounds, that will cause them to rust eventually causing a bad ground overtime. Use a proper bolt that's made for a ground and you'll be good

Honestly I think the supra being painted would be sick. I'm not in love with the red. If that's too much effort or a time issue right now I think the valve covers being satin black would be much cleaner than the clashing reds. Either way awesome build I love how you two go about building cars!!

i like the cerakoting, will be interesting to see if it results in lower IATs. the valve cover is off just enough that it triggers me. it gives the impression of a failed color match attempt. also I hope you're planning on somehow heat shielding that intake. just nit picks though, you two do incredible work!!

Good stuff guys. One thing I'd like to do to my 1JZ is add drive by wire. It's running a full standalone and neatens the engine bay up, by being able to delete the IACV. It even allows for cruise control and an improved idle. For the JZA80 and JZZ30, you can use a DBW throttle pedal from a UZZ40 Toyota Soarer.

Love the supra videos! One remark looping the idle up valve, it is not only for comfort but also safety. It is more prown on manual transmission cars but if you release the clutch before a corner the power steering assistance can drop to the point it becomes heavy to steer around the corner, due to engine rpm drop.. This can catch you by surprise and send you ways you dont want to go. I would always leave this valve operational.

"I'm good at finding sneaky holes" DP, man quality comedy along side good gearhead content! Superb guy! For the valve covers, I personally think a wrinkle black would’ve been a better decision, just because the two different reds seem to clash a lot, and it kinda throws off the whole look of the bay. I would’ve even possibly hit the fan shroud with some of the SEM black trim paint, just to try to make it match all the other black plastics in the bay. As for the voice over, I dig it, but I feel like it was a bit more than I’d have liked. I’m sure there’s a good balance out there somewhere. But you know what? It’s free [great] content and I’ll watch regardless! All that being said, I’m really enjoying this series, and can’t wait to see what PT does with the 34!

It's looking smart, nice job with the stealth install in the brushless pump too. Ceramic coatings have been used in motorsport applications for years in F1 and elsewhere, although more recently they also moved on too expensive alloys like Inconel in exhausts etc. Unless my eyes deceive me those scratches looked like blemishes to the surface finish rather than through the coating to the base material, so I think functionally speaking you'll be fine, even if it does trigger your OCD!!

Not too sure about the Cerakote on the intercooler itself and possibly the piping if I'm honest. I'm pretty sure the reason you Cerakote hot side parts is to retain heat in the exhaust system and prevent it radiating outwards in to the bay, which sounds counterproductive for an intercooler system that is designed to release heat 🤷‍♂️ It looks cool, but it may actually have a negative effect
