Pro tip for using nanlite. The way you put them in standby mode is by pressing the brightness knob. Switching it off turns it off fully, but pressing the brightness knob just puts it in standby and makes it turn back on much faster.
In the three-light-comparison the 720B and the 720 looked the nicest for skin tones to my eye… but it also bothered me a little that the neutral colored wall in the back also turned a bit extra warm with those, compared to the Aputure. I didn’t notice it at first until I took a closer look at the side-by-sides.
Great comparison. The Nanlite looks great initially when compared to the Aputure, nice and warm. Then you see the white wall in the background is also a bit warm in the Nanlite shot. It’s great Nanlite is pushing competitors. Their Evoke with a variety of accessories is awesome.
Skin is a bit brighter while using warmer light, but it is becouse skin reflect mostly red light. So if red light dominate spectrum, skin and other things with warm colors can appear brighter then cold ones.
At least down south, you get days with low enough wind to use that light and diffusion outside. Up here (Western Mohave County), it's always windy... and the humidity is rarely made up for by actual rain! Also, the 600 looked pretty good, on my phone anyway.
I’ve got the evoke 1200 and it’s just the best. Its a shame nanlite doesn’t have the brand recognition that aputure does because their lights do generally outperform aputures in several ways. Been looking at the 720b for a while as it seems to be as bright as the 600d with the obvious benefit of being bi color
I like how you blend in VLOGing with information. Way to go to stand for your beliefs, I don't care about effects either in lights... I just like seeing the review of the main function. I like the 720 B look in the comparison
If you simply want to cut to the inevitable, you can save money by burning out the talent's retinas with a 150W soldering iron vs. the whole high-powered-light-fixture approach.
When you made it black and white, was it desaturation? Or was it channel isolation? Because if it's show ohh the red channel or likewise any other channel then the change in color will be reflected as a change in brightness.
Tips...don't use the strap that came with the bag. I was on my way back slinging the bag on my shoulder and the metal clip gave way. This light with the control weighs 10kg....its too much for the strap to handle.
IT IS NOT HUMID IN ARIZONA!! When I was there in 2010 and 2011, in JULY, a week before monsoon season, the locals told me about the humidity going all the way up to 12 PERCENT, and I laughed. Here in NE Ohio the temperature will be in the 90's and we will have 90 and 100 PERCENT HUMIDITY, and this can be all through the summer. We NEVER see only 12 percent humidity, which locals in phoenix called "HIGH HUMIDITY." While there and it was 105 degrees, it was fine for me. I wouldn't want to play football in that temperature, but I was fine going about my day in it.
Forsa has better skin tones and power but it is a new product. Aputure 600d is kinda old product compared to Forza 720. So I guess they will come with new one ;)
I like the skin tones in the 720 the most. the 720B felt like it had a lot of green in the skin tones and the 600D was too pink. Although the 600D might be more "accurate" I like the look of the 720.
