I've always been a lumens guy. Give me high lumens at a decent distance and I'm generally good. Then I took a rifle nighttime course and really appreciated a light's ability to throw light at longer distances.
When Andrew from surefire Told me they were launching their Turbo Series of high candela lights that are focused on long-distance lighting I got a little giddy.
Lumens are the total amount of light put out by a device the higher the lumens the greater the area is lit up. However, Candela is the amount of light put out by a device in a particular direction.
Essentially, High Lumens is focused on making things really bright up close and Candela focuses on making things bright at further distances.

i turned my surefire biases off a couple years ago. Modlite and Cloud Defensive are leading the way now in candela, performance, farther range, and deeper water resistance in common weapon lights. I have no doubt they have caused surefire to catch up in performance kinda like holosuns slowly made better quality optics at lower prices. this caused competitors like aimpoint to create a budget aimpoint duty optic just released a month ago

I love Surefires, I have 4 as of right now but they are all older lights that Surefire doesn't make anymore because now everyone makes a drop in replacement lamp for them. It is nice to see Surefire finally catching up with everyone else though.

I'm hard pressed for a reason to buy an X300 instead of a TLR-1. Surefire's reputation is solid for a reason, but I don't recall anyone complaining that Streamlight hardware is flimsy garbage. I have lights from both, and neither have made me sad aside from Surefire's price.

SF pressure pads are way better but now they have an adapter to use a SF pad with SL weaponlights so thats a plus.

I’ve got both and I lean more towards SF only for felt and perceived quality. The aluminum on the SL seems thinner and not as rugged. How ever, SL has more flood, SF has more focus.

Problem is Surefire is so damn expensive. While they are bomb proof, if you're not a cop or a soldier, a stream light or some other brand would match lumens and candela for much less money.

@@xyz7975 No, Surefire just overcharges because of the brand recognition -- they're terrible value compared to other "Made-in-USA" brands too, like Modlite, Cloud Defensive, or Arisaka.

I get some top quality stuff on amazon: lights, red dot, holsters, etc. If you're not a snob and do your research, you can completely kit out a pew pew for about $100.

Candela is what has to do with the throw of a light. These are going to be high candela which is on par with modlite which is a huge competition right now

1. These look great, as I prefer long throw, tight focus. 2. I LOVE my Groove Life belt, BUT I DO NOT like it for concealed carry. I was actually an early adopter and the only request/criticism I had was that I did not think it was firm enough to be considered a carry belt. To each their own, I suppose. I lean heavily to the Kore Essentials line-up for carry belts.

I'm so confused by the XR1 and XR2. They had the XR1 at the 2019 SHOT Show, again at 2020, and now at 2022 (I didn't see it personally in their booth this year). However it is still not on the Surefire site.

Groove Life is my go to for belts. The belts have a little bit of stretch so it won’t gut you when you need to draw from IWB.

I’m curious colion. You said you are heavily biased for the surefire lights. I’ve been heavily biased for stream light thus far in my firearms life. I was curious if you would say why you prefer one over the other? For me it came down to $/lumen as well as I already had some stream light lights from my time as a firefighter.

In the last 5 years tho, every single weapon light has been a disappointment. Some people still like changing batteries and not getting what’s advertised so I guess whatever floats your boat haha 😂

I just dont see the worth in a light that dont last long I love my x300 but the streamlight 350lm lasts 14hr or so with the option to run 2 different batteries.

Definitely need more info on the 18650 light due to battery voltage does this flash light have low voltage warning or over charge protection if you use a 18650 needs it , not good if this battery drops below specs can make the battery unstable if over charged or you let it drop below voltage specs

@@pineapple999100 There is no way around it and many of us can't afford these lights, so, it's either a Chinese product, or nothing at all. I honestly love my Olights and find them to be extremely high quality. I live in the mountains of western Oregon and have an olight on my Walther Q4 Tac and I've beat the shit out of it and it performs remarkably. I've had cougars and bears on my porch multiple times and I feel like I can trust my life to an Olight and to a lesser degree, even my thrunite and more so on my Fenix lights. I even love my sofirn lights and Wowtacs. I've never had a single problem with any of them and i DO NOT treat them well. Start a US company that makes reasonably priced, quality flashlights and you got my money. Until then, nothing we can really do about it. Talk to the politicians that sold us out, that's where you should be raising hell.

Colion Noir, a recent shooting happened where a father of two was killed, Scott Mattison by Jonathan Mejia, (notice how I didn’t say murdered). I really think you need to do an analysis of this situation and give your two sense because there’s a lot of details that will be used in the court for this trial that actually have significance. This case is a lot less predictable and your expertise would shine light on the 2nd amendment.

If you want an affordable light that works better outdoors, get the Convoy C8+ with a kw culpm1.tg led(12mode), it is ~$30 and has 200k candela and it fits arisaka ring mounts.

Anyone that donates to the "gun control" democrat leftists should not get any positive attention from us especially not money. There really does need to be evidence of what you say before anyone takes any kind of action on the information though.
