I can directly relate, the year after I graduated from High School my city started construction on a new building and eventually tore the old one down after they were done.
i keep pissing my friend off by singing this. its awesome. nothing more emblematic of a friendship than your dear friend going "hey man did you know coach z raps" and then making them regret that when you start saying "coach z coach z 1 2 1 2" apropos of nothing during the lulls in conversation. thank you coach z for the earworm
Ah the memories. My dad finally getting so tired of the song he finally lost it and exclaimed "would someone please tell this man where his lasers are so he'll shut up!"
The funny thing is, my mom and my aunt introduced me and my sister to HSR, and they did and I believe still do get a chuckle out of them. It's just that the Strongbad Sings cd was our Frozen soundtrack
I like how the brothers Chaps are so good at Flash, that they deliberately cut corners technically (to make it a "The Cheat" cartoon), and the excellent direction still shines through regardless. It's like the animation equivalent of Mel Blanc doing an impression of Daffy Duck in Bugs Bunny's voice, it's only possible through absolute mastery of the medium
it's the fact that they make deliberate mistakes that are common for people taht are just learning flash ( like not layering things, choosing the wrong places to tween etc.
@@Duke_SliscusWhen you're so good you can be bad on purpose in order to achieve something good just like the skill it takes to make an actually good satire or parody as if you don't understand the genre you won't understand how to make fun of it, which is why things like impressions are best when done by people that don't hate the person they're impersonating like with President Trump, the best Trump impressions are done by people that like him and understand how he speaks and his mannerisms and all that, where as the people that hate him do terrible jobs and you can instantly tell it's just coming from a place of hatred which ruins it. Look up "space captain: captain of space" it's a hilarious parody of old science fiction films and it's extremely hilarious because it's accurately parodying all the tropes from those films.
Coach Z's got money, but not much! Coach Z's got money, but not much! Coach Z's got money, but not much! I could use a dollar, I could use a couple bucks!
Coach Z has inspired me with beautiful quotes like "I'm so old school they tore the school down" "Coach Zs got money, but not much." "Where mah lasers at...y'all" "I got to see the sweet doc." "I got the grown up beats." "I can freak and flow at the same time."
These classic uploads from the past couple weeks have been making me realize what a staggering percentage of crap I think and say "alls the time" on a daily basis comes from stuff this one little site that never took more than ten minutes out of my day did umpteen years ago. Something about Homestar Runner gets into your brain and permanently changes the way you think. I STILL say Santaman, ____-man Dan, stri-ped, ba-leeted, the jibblies, no probalo... etc, etc... Every day. There are SEVERAL things in just this ONE video I say a lot.
I like how coach z complains about other people fading him, but in the next line seems to be making excuses for fading other people 'Call me on my Cell Phone; I get busy!'
1:23 this kind of animation effect (error? transition?) is super nostalgic for me. You don't see it very often anymore so it warms my heart whenever I see it.
I remember when I found this video hidden in the CD, it blew my mind. I merely meant to play the music from the computer to see there is also a data CD to it. I loved the extra effort that was placed into this CD!!
Ahhh, so this is why I always hear "I gotta see the sweet doctor (Dr. sweet), I gotta see the sweet doctor (Dr. sweet)" in my head every time somebody mentions anything related to doctors or the medical field in general.
He's a washed up old man, sadly. And always has been. That's his character. He's even self-aware enough to recognize that...as he himself put it - "Coasting on fumes, Coach Z is"
The Cheat that was amazing! This is gonna rocket straight to the bottom of the BET charts! *the cheat noises* Oh! Your payment. How's about a slice of chin strap pizza.
I've had a theory about the line, "I'm so old school, they tore the school down!" So, we know there are running tracks and a few other sports fields that occasionally appear in Free Country, USA. And we know that Coach Z works and lives in a locker room near these sports areas. But we never see what institution this is all attached to. It could all be some vague sort of recreational facility, but... what if Coach Z lives in a locker room, because it was the fieldhouse of a school that's been demolished? What if that was the school he used to work at, and he had nowhere else to go, so he just stayed where he was? He would be speaking literally as he says, "I'm so old school, they tore the school down." Kind of saddening. Also, I'm sure I'm overthinking this.
Do you ever find yourself going “oooh that’s where that came from” when you randomly watch an old HS cartoon and hear something that’s become such an integral part of your daily vocabulary that you forgot where it came from? That was me with like five lines of this song just now 😂
