The Monkie Kid Heavenly Realms didn't really go on a 30% sale. It was already sold out when Lego put all their retiring sets on sale. It just shows up as 30% off because that's the sale price they put on all Monkie Kid sets at the end of the year. I only got 1 even though it was high on my list and I got it early, similar to DG. I used that set to get up to $250 for the first Houses of the World set. I wasn't happy enough with the GWP selling prices for that series given the high threshold, so I ended up stopping after the first 2 houses. I was waiting for that end of year sale to pick up more, but as I said, it was already sold out. Picked up 9 of the Birds of Paradise, 5 at $60 from Target Black Friday and 4 at $70 from Lego Black Friday. Wish I had maxed out with 1 more from Lego but I had already spent so much on Fighter Tanks and other sets during Black Friday, that I was really at my max. The popularity of the other botanicals is why I picked up this set, even though this one wasn't popular. I figured if Amazon is selling 50k of the other botanicals every month, there has to be enough people that will want this one, even if most people don't. And here are 2 sets I'm watching in 2024 21327 - Typewriter - Cool set plus great sand green parts 71469 - Dreamzzz Nightmare Shark Ship. I thought I would mention this one since you guys talked about Dreamzzz and Hidden Side ships. This is honestly the only Dreamzzz set I think is worth watching.
Thanks for the comment! I largely missed the Target 40% off on Bird of Paradise and right about now I'm feeling some FOMO. Your thinking is similar to mine, if 100k copies of popular botanical sets sell at Christmastime, then at least a few thousand of the less popular entries to that line seems reasonable. All speculation since of course we're working with limited data. I like the Typewriter, also for the sand green parts! Not sure about anything Dreamzzz yet. Appreciate your lengthy comment! Take care.
YES!!!! on 40623. And thanks for the vote on the boxy R2 brickheadz...I love it! @DGBricksYT that's 1 vote for me and none for you...but who's keeping score 🤣
Oh don't remind me guys of Heavenly Realms. I have been checking it since Q2 2023. When time came to finally buy (good GwP combo) in September, it said "currently out of stock". So I contacted customer service and they just told me to wait. So I've waited and then it change description to Sold out. They just retired production in September here in our mid-Europe region!
I'm sorry to hear that! Sometimes on a set that I absolutely don't want to miss, I'll pick up one copy at a subpar price just to have it. Then if it goes on a better sale later you can always add to your position.
It's a great problem to have, but yeah I also struggle with liquidating winners. I can't stand letting my $20 76903 Corvettes go for $40-45 since it feels better to hold for $60 or $80
@@DGBricksYT I got a couple at full price and a couple of the sale. I would have never thought lego would have discounted that set. I did not see that coming
Endor brickheadz has retired in the uk. Says retired on Lego website. So I’m sure it will retire in the USA. Sold out in December. Never got it discounted here.
You all missed out heavily on Lloyd's Golden Ultra Dragon. Never went on sale (that's a plus for investing), it's an ornate dragon, Oni Lloyd is one of the best versions of the character out there in minifigure form, you get the tall version of the Overlord, and also important is that you get all four of the core ninja in their gold-accented suits in one set. While the set did not go on sale, with double VIP, GWP's, and $30 cashback through Honey, this one was a no-brainer.
Yep! I mentioned this set in a recent video of mine on 5 underrated investments. I will say that even I was shocked to see how fast its price rose. You should do well on the copies you acquired.
"Hunch" for those late climbers is seeing 68 left on Ebay and 20 of those are just the minifigs and pieces and 10 more are just the set used. I think I'll wait just a bit on that one. As for Minecraft, hold on to your Llama Farms and Brickheadz, everything else is a struggle.
@@DGBricksYT Not one in particular but saying that when I see less than 70 on Ebay, that seems to be a climbing point, especially if 30 of those are just used sets or parts and minifigs. A good test of this theory will play out with Minecraft 21174. 70 left now on Ebay after 1 year retired, the majority new and sealed has just jumped $10 to $20, but will that continue?
Watch, subscribe and enjoy both your channels but these podcasts are my favs of all Lego videos. You guys have a great natural rapport that is really enjoyable.
That's awesome, really kind of you to say 😊 We enjoy the balance of talking data, history, numbers, etc...while keeping it chill and having some lighthearted poking and humor! We have a lot of fun recording these as you can tell. Thanks again!
Kevin is a cool guy except when he's missing the best sales of the year because he's at soccer practice. We have a lot of fun talking shop and are thankful you appreciate the content.
Great to see a lot of the sets that I targeted doing great already. Thanks for the info and it was fun to listen to you both talk about Lego investing today.
I got a few Birds of Paradise sets - first Botanicals to retire - had to go for the first of a popular series. I am not a big investor but I grabbed 3 of those & so happy I did! I made A LOT of mistakes last year with the HP sets 🤦♀️
Nicely done on the Bird of Paradise! I also grabbed only 3. Harry Potter is tricky, I largely sat it out this year after taking my beatings with that theme in 2022. Glad you enjoy the show!
That's so cool, love it! @DGBricksYT I know you're not returning your fighter tanks, but remember you said you're just going to send them to me 😂 I'll take good care of them for ya!
Never got any of the Gumships for investing but i have a used one. Honestly not the biggest fan so i think ill sell it sometime this year and might even profit lol
Birds of Paradise was my last-minute purchase from the Black Friday season. Missed out on maximum savings at Target, but still got a pretty good price from Lego at $77 including tax. Recently sold it for $140 locally. Should have gotten more haha
Interesting! I would love to make a video about differences in the US/UK/Europe market but I have limited information about Europe since I live in the US (as does KDX)
@@DGBricksYT I think it is even different across all europe. For example Amazon in Germany barely has offers over 40% while Amazon France has offers over 50% kinda regular. One time I even imported from Amazon France to Germany with paying extra for it but it still was 45-60% off because they made a 3 for 2 with already 20-40% discounted sets. Never saw sth. like this for Lego in Germany.
I've not heard it called a scam before! That's pretty funny. What do you think of the World Map, with 90% of it being 1x1 studs? Maybe this is a new investment criteria to be considered...
@@DGBricksYT imagine comparing the world map which every piece has a function to over 300 1x1 pieces as potting soil which is complete worthless and complete unecessary and makes the set way to expensive. But hey i bought 5 birds and cant wait to sell them to clueless people in 5 years for 400 dollars ^^ I am just saying that this thing is basiclly a scam cause of so much worthless 1x1 pieces
As far as I know, over $600 in sales means you'll receive a 1099 and that income will be reported. Nobody likes doing their taxes. It beats the alternative though!
@@DGBricksYT I was visiting my aunt today and I never realized this plant in her neighbor's yard was a birds of paradise because I'm never her when it is bloomed. Plant is pretty, set is ugly.
ngl Investing in Lego seems stupid. Who'd be realisticly paying top dollare for toys? If you start to speculate with toys they'll never get played with
@@SvenTheShoeBuyer At the moment, yeah, but with how mainstream it is now investing is bound to collapse soon. I've never seen more Lego on sale in my life than in the past few years.
