Fun fact: A city in the Netherlands used the bridges on the Euro bills as model for severall pedastrian or bicicle brigdes to a new build housing area - so the bridges now exists.

Dang that’s cool, but do they now have to change the euro notes 😂

@@Freya-010 The construction of the bridges was with the knowledge of the ECB. So for this reason the Euro banknotes woundn't be changed. Nevertheless the ECB has started the process of redesigning the notes.

I still miss our former national currency from the Netherlands. Our Guilder banknotes were considered one of the most beautiful notes in the world. They were colorful - bright green and bright blue, for instance. The fl. 50 note had a bright yellow sunflower on it, and the fl. 250 had a purple lighthouse. They had special marks for the blind that were very noticeable. I also liked having to pay in different currencies on holidays. Yes, it was a bit of a hassle, and you would always miscalculate, but it added to the whole experience of being abroad.

Germany also has some 2€ coins for each of their state just like in the USA with the quarter because for the 2€ coins each country is allowed to release up to 2 special designs each year, so if you count them too there are more then 750 designs on euro coins. I live in Germany and try to find them all in circulation but its really difficult as some of them are really rare, i have 319 different designs at the moment, 143 of them are 2€ coins.

The UK, Denmark and Switzerland still have their own currency. Switzerland and the UK are not members of the EU. Switzerland has never joined the EU, but has strong treaties with the EU. Lichtenstein has the same currency as Switzerland. Norway is similar to Switzerland. Strong trade contracts, no member of the EU and own currency. UK has left the EU and has chosen an unfavorable economic situation. Denmark could have gotten the Euro, but refuses. But they are members of the EU. Poland has not yet introduced the Euro, but Lithuania has. San Marion and Vatican are not members of the EU but have the Euro. This also applies to Andorra and Monaco. All four are independent microstates with right to mint money. Kosovo and Montenegro also pay in Euros, but do not have the right to mint money. The European Central Bank grants participating states the right to mint money and confiscates defective coins. You can also buy 0 €uro bills but not pay with them.

Half asleep Chris has some good videos about other countries and their coins, and since you sounded interested in the zero euro and where they are located I think you’d enjoy his videos on that exact subject. 🙂

There were 200 and 500 bills in the 1st Euro series, I don't know why they only portrayed 5 values in the video, and however placed the 6 different values of the 2nd Europa series.

The danish 20 kr coins also have different stuff on them. Like I have one with a sled, a polar bear, the queen and prince when they had an anniversary. Also a really cool one with runes instead of regular letters.

There are also special 2 euro commemorative coins. Every euro country can issue them and usually it happens 1 or 2 times a year. Usually they represent some important person or royal family, buildings (Germany has castles series), events, some kind of important anniversary, culture or nature objects, etc. There are almost 500 different commemorative coins right now. Some of these coins are very rare (volume 100K) and others not so rare (volume 30 million). I always keep these coins if I get them.

There are not only €2 coins, but also special mintings of €5, €10, €20 coins. Some can only be ordered through the German Mint, some are also issued at regular intervals through banks. Attention: even if they are special coins, these coins are considered regular means of payment. I bought the "Die Sendung mit der Maus" for my grandchildren ;)

Reason notes are plan, because they are issued and printed by European central bank. This is to minimize chance of fraud since it's only issued from one source. Coins on other hand are made by individual countries, since it just doesn't make sense to counterfeit coins so there's no need to be so careful.

I can imagine 🤣 I used to have a collection of $2 bills that each one was different for each of the states. 50 bills total. I also had a big hardback coin collection book with slots for coins. All 50 state coins, the state park coins, the national park coins. The coin on my display behind me leaning against the bottle of Arjy is a 1879 Morgan Dollar. I have a sealed mint set from 1977 on the shelf hidden behind the book of Nordic Stamps 😊 but no zero euro yet Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day

Just a fun reaction video 🤔 Here in Denmark we are still not part of the monetary Union, but I'm sure it'll be voted in, within the next 10yrs. The young people would prefer it, to minimalise the hassle of exchange currency, but I would prefer to keep the DKKR, as it's trade-strength is much better on the International scene...and did not lose it's value even through Covid-19. Good to see you, Bryson hello from Denmark 🌸

I was against the Euro, but I have changed my mind. It's annoying to do an exchange each time. Also have to pay for it. So let's get the Euro.
@Zandain
@Zandain Год назад
@@Gert-DK The Euro is not for me...I travel further away and always have to exchange anyway. If you have the right bank account, you can just pay or pull money from the bankes ATMs in the other countries without big rates...and then keep the strong DKkr 👍
@raahauge
@raahauge Год назад
With the increased use of card-transactions, and decreasing use of cash, the case for giving up the DKK due to transaction costs disappears. By keeping the DKK we still have the ability to appreciate the DKK (like the Swiss Frank), which might be necessary of our inflation keep on being lower than in the Euro-zone. Our trade surplus of more than 7.1% of GDP is already a problem, according to the EU guide-lines (max 6%), and would not be allowed if we were Germany or France.
@Gert-DK
@Gert-DK Год назад
@@raahauge When shopping online, it would also be nice if we had the Euro. When used to the Euro, it is less difficult to compare prices. I have no benefits using DKK.
@Gert-DK

@@raahauge I am not a specialist on these matters, but I do know the DKK is hooked up to the Euro, and the Danish state has to operate within some boundaries.

"some countries who yet dont meet the criteria but will switch once they do" and they have sweden listed there. We do not plan to switch our Krona to Euro. We have been voting on it multiple times but we still have our own currency and has no plan yet to switch.

@@formatique_arschloch It doesn't matter if it's a choice or not, they don't meet the criteria to adopt Euros.
@RaduRadonys
@RaduRadonys Год назад
Of course they listed Sweden since Sweden must switch once they meet the criteria. And they don't meet the criteria. So they can't yet adopt Euros. The fact they they intentionally fail to meet the criteria doesn't change the fact that they don't meet the criteria. Sweden is obliged to adopt Euros since they didn't sign on opt out like UK or Denmark.
