Full agree. I also feel it was more focused on gameplay than ts4 and ts3. I feel especially with ts4 they have focused alot on the cas a building, cosmetic side of things but not not alot on a Sims actual daily life. In ts2 there were tons of things that made a Sims life feel like it had a real sense of progression.
@@1sleepyguy42o Yeah I’ve been thinking on it, but as the games progress you start to see a lack of realistic gameplay behaviors in exchange for better building and cas. I’ve been playing ts3 these past few weeks and the gameplay is there, but it oddly gets repetitive or feels exhausting (if that makes sense). I don’t own all the game packs, so that might a factor of this, but that’s probably my only complaint. Meanwhile ts4 completely lacks gameplay unlike it’s prior adaptations and so that’s basically where modding comes in. EA gets upset players use mods, but won’t acknowledge that their lack of effort in the game is what makes us turn to them in the first place.
@@hers6694 I know what you mean. I haven't played Sims 3 in a while, but I remember my main problem with it in the past was I felt like I was just constantly fast forwarding , going from rabbit hole to rabbit hole. One difference in ts2 is your Sims were very player directed. There are many things in the game that expect the player to be watching the animation, waiting for it to complete, in order to fulfill the next task, the photo booth for example. I think rabbit holes were one big departure from that. Perhaps the developers felt that players spent most of their time fast forwarding or zoomed out , so details are unlikely to matter. That said Sims 2 is still not perfect. There are a number of areas in the game where things were simply not finished, earlier today I downloaded a file that makes use of some objects that were left in the game, but not properly named and therefore not working correctly. It's interesting to see how this game's playability for me at least relies solely on the people who make mostly free content for it. Maybe that's why ea hates the modders so much.
The gameplay too good you wouldn’t even care about the graphics once you start playing sims 2 that is where I started off playing the sims and i miss those days
@@JT_From_Outer_Space i think it mainly comes from sims being objects in the Sims 4. they’re not made to be well rounded or even playable at times, they’re just these blank individuals, and that’s why they don’t have these cute interactions like in the sims 2 and 3
This is a perfect world I think about this all the time! All the sims games offer something different but the sad thing is it’s not carried to the next game. I want the sims you described so badly... as much as I truly hope that’s what the sims 5 literally is I’m scared EA is just getting more lazy 😭😭😭 Also I want them to bring back the lore of the sims. It’s missing from sims 4 but was so cool in sims 2 and 3. I want more answers for Bella Goth and her disappearance😭😭😭😭
Would you have the computer requirements to play it? A game like this would be impossible for the average players. Even The Sims 4 on high quality graphics sucks on good PCs
i recently found some sims 2 discs in nearly perfect condition at a thrift store for 4 dollars. i have been playing it a lot recently on my grandmother’s computer when i come to visit because she has a windows 7 that runs ts2 surprisingly well! i love the small details in the game and the music was awesome too, as well as the voices in the game!
Remember when sometimes they would make baked Alaska. And they didn't have enough cooking skill so when they lit it they dropped it on the floor and caused a fire. 😂
Sims 2 was my childhood, i never really managed to get into sims 3 and 4 because they just didn't have the same feel to it as sims 2 did. That game just had so much character, i loved it.
Sims 2 felt so … alive. For example when they went on holiday, it really felt like they went on holiday! They came back all refreshed and happy and it felt like they had been away. Sims 4 lacks all of that. It’s heartless and empty.
Everyone's dream Sims game! But I don't have my hopes up that they'll do it 😭 they'd probably make the Sims 3 color wheel a feature you'd have to buy or some bs
i just got Sims 2 Super Collection for Mac and it installed easily, and running it at all the highest graphics settings it really does not look that bad at all. especially considering you can download custom content just like all the other games. there are even some simmers who make "4to2" custom content meaning they converted things from 4 to be used in 2. honestly i recommend anyone who wants to give it a try, there's nothing wrong with playing The Sims 2 in 2023!!
That time my sim died trying to make that ambrosia dessert by accidentally setting herself on fire and scarred me. 😅 I was always scared to make it after that.
@@asdhggkrgkrmgirejlkgelkrjg2757 in high school years (expansion pack) I believe not in base gameplay because I don’t have HS years and I have never seen my sims have acne.
Honestly i think the mods are a necessity in Sims 2 aswell. Though the game is great, I do have a ton of mods that I use to fix certain aspects of the game that are annoying or ever game breaking. Also the Sims 2 has a huge problem with corruption, so much so that in normal gameplay it's basicly inevitable that you game will become corrupted / unplayable / constant crashing at some point. That's why the community has created things like hoodchecker to keep saves working and healthy, and mods to prevent corruption like sending gravestones to graveyards. I find it both sad and kind of beautiful that these games need mods. They are playable through the community's efforts and love for the game alone.
Well when the creators of Maxis left after the EA acquisition, and EA CEO’s changed, we see the down turn of all of the products ran by EA. Basically The new guy sees how successful and lucrative the brand is, and becomes fixated on the money without doing the very work that built the wealth in the first place.
They actually sat at the table together for meals. One of my favorite things was when the dad would walk around with a kid standing on his feet. Precious!
Sims 2 had so many small details. I would love for another sims game to have this amount of attention to detail put into it but with updated graphics and an open world like in 3
You know what I miss? When a sim would walk around the house while they talked on the phone. The fact that in the Sims 4 they just... stand there and talk drives me crazy. No one talks on the phone like that.
So true. There were so many details that made the game so much more immersive. Whever I play I always find myself pausing and taking a ton of pictures because the animations make such cute moments with the sims. And then I can look back when the sim is old, it's a really cute time.
really, i had forgotten how awesome sims 2 was. i mixed it up with sims 3 in my head and what i could remember from the things you showed about sims 2 i thought was all in sims 3 instead. what i really miss in sims 4 every time is that there is absolutely no cuddling in bed anymore, just sad :(
When I start playing Sims 4 after Sims 3 I was thinking, omg I miss the Details! 😭 Now I saw this Video but never played Sims 2 and know I wish I had ever played one Time Sims 2! 😭😭😭
Because town play wasn't involved, they were able to go into sooooo much more detail with Sims 2 since you ONLY played the household. Once you could start using the town map to travel around in Sims 3, interactions and house details went down to reduce bugs & reprioritize. It's honestly so special seeing its evolution. I miss sims 2 🥺
I skip sims 3 and goes to sims 4 years late. When I play sims 4 and see the couple I played as sleep together in bed I keep waiting them to snuggle together. Not realizing that it is only happened in Sims 2 😭
One bug i wish they fixed in sims 2 as its still a bug is when someone calls u to say "wanna go downtown" then u fast foward time and before the taxi gets their it says u stood ur friend up
I grew up with Sims 2 (I didn't have the money to buy a better pc to suit Sims 3 or 4) until a few months ago and for Sims 4. I was so happy but it took time to adjust from the things I could do in Sims 2 but not 4.
This is why sims 2 was so great and such a huge part of my childhood. Cause it legitimately felt like a different life you were controlling. You got so immersed bc there were so many details to pay attention to and made it more realistic. Compared to the sims 4 everything is so blank and it has no character anymore, you can barely do anything and it seems much more robotic.
