Depreciation rates fluctuate between 15% and 30%. It of course does not mean that you should not buy them. These cars can have intangible values that outweigh any depreciation rate. My local Mercedes dealership took in a two year old loaded Aston V8 Vantage. Drop dead gorgeous. Had it on the block for $120k for about eight months, finally sold it for 99K. Original MSRP around $180 K. So sure, tons of depreciation. But for buyers, absolute right car to buy.

I always thought the AMG GT 4 door, Taycan and MC20 were overpriced. Dealerships in Canada are still trying to overcharge for these cars. Don't fall for it. Wait and you'll see the prices drop like a stone in 18 months. Another one I predict that will collapse in price on the used market is the new AMG SL, not because it's a bad car but because Merc lost its mind in charging over $200k for it. It's not THAT good. Wait 24 months and I'm certain used SL's will be worth half the price.

I think 4.0 Vantage numbers are just really good now. Following recent trends, I traded in my 2015 older Vantage for a 2019 and could not be happier. Value for the money is great considering comparable 911s in that price segment. The infotainment is a miss but replacing that with CarPlay solves all problems.

Nice video! Found this randomly. I love cars and I'm thinking of getting either a used LC500 or a new Lotus Emira. Would I hit depreciation hard with either one of those? They're both amazing, but would love the Emira more for the manual. My daily is a C7 A6 tuned to 500 some hp and Bilstein suspension. I love it and I will keep it forever if I can, but would love to get a more special car and those two are exciting to me.

We are in a moment of flux. Going from low inflation, low interest rates, people with extra money, and somewhat limited supply of desirable cars for these people. Now the situation appears to be relatively high inflation, a return to historic interest rates, no PPP or other free stimulus. And every manufacturer has several "sports car" models that the ignorant think will just go up up up. Or worst case keep their value. The car market generally has a lot of inertia, economic changes do not immediately reflect by higher or lower prices. We are in that lag time now. The really desirable cars (even newish cars like 599GTO or GT3RS) will do better than the standard models. But the guy who bought a normal 911 Turbo or Gallardo in the last two years that thinks his car will always hold its value is going to be in for a very rude awakening.

Any EV startup is like playing Russian Roulette. The financials for Lucid / Rivian / Fisker, etc. are scary. The burn rate of their cash is unsustainable and I wouldn't touch their cars. They are rolling supercomputers and when these high priced RC cars go belly-up, good luck fixing them. The proprietary body components are already insanely high to fix due to the complexity and low production. They are for suckers.

Bought a 15 Calit T after watching your 2022 information and multiple videos. Had a 21 C8 HTC and while great cars for the money , the quality is not even close to my 15 Cali T which in my opinion is way more comfortable and Handel if and speed is equal to the Vett . I expect they still depreciate but love the car just curious what the update might be on these . Higher interest rates certainly affect used cars I am sure . Great channel

Very informative video. Only thing is regarding the 812 GTS. Many have an MSRP of ~500k, so the price drop of $112k to Mid 600’s is still above MSRP, and many original owners are still up 100k+. Other than that, I agree with everything else!

I love this video! Just bought a Roma and a Urus 😂 I did get killer deals on both. Urus in 250k range and a pearl capsule and also Roma with a 315 sticker for 260. Probably lose a good 30-40 on the Roma but the urus should hold over $240 or so.

Interesting video and surprised about the huge depreciation for the Taycan. What about the older generation Aston Martin Vantage V8 and V12 ? Do you expect these to become classics and raise in value especially the manual versions ?

We test-drove a Taycan in 2021. Amazing car. But no way was I going to buy one new. I *knew* prices would quickly tank on them. We'll probably scoop up a Cross Turismo in the next couple of years.

Big reason Vantage values have declined so much is that they flooded the 2020 and 2021 market with cheap leases after they went public and they have been coming back to market before people realize what good cars they are

How come Panamera 971 GTS is always priced above the regular Turbo? Hisotorically Turbo is the more expensive model, you won’t tell me that all these GTS are so heavilly loaded with options.

Is depreciation necessarily a bad thing? For example, the f-type v8's have dropped in value. But surely this means that you can pick up a second hand 2021 model on the cheap! Or is this still a negative as it will continue to depreciate faster than the rest of the market? I'm only asking as I'm looking to buy a 2021 f-type v8, there super cheap rn

Should I trade in my 981 Cayman GTS for a 991.2 GT3? Both are dropping but since GT3 has a higher sticker price, each % of drop is great in dollar value versus my cayman where dropping 10% is just $10k

I would. The 981 has a 4 cylinder right? 718 brought back the flat 6 that is much more highly regarded. I love caymans but there’s also a lot of people out there that would never consider one over a 911

Is the Cayman a manual or pdk? I believe it's still a flat 6 in the 981 right? If its a manual flat 6 keep it. Unless you're getting a manual gt3. If they are both pdk then get the gt3

Depreciation is the least of your worries with the 456, it'll be running costs that kill you, like the very weak steering rack that costs tens of thousands to replace

What never depreciates is the cost of ownership. Parts, maintenance, shop costs, insurance, gas, etc. Get yourself a financial planner and be smart with your money. Just remember depreciating assets are bad for wealth.

Was surprised to see the Panamera Turbo S depreciate less than the S and the GTS. Really surprised by the GTS depreciation rate. Is the Turbo S depreciating less because there isn’t many of them? Don’t get me wrong as they are still depreciating higher than the average.

I remember I used to get emails from Lamborghini Dallas regularly, and one promo email was letting me know that for the low, low price of $5,000 they would install a… button in your Aventador… to make the spoiler go up, so you could wash it easier. That bit of insanity has stuck with me.

Is this really just a question of folks paying a silly premium for having the car “fresh in the wrapper” and being fawned over by the dealer, and the true “value” of the item (less the ego pandering) only emerges at 12-18 months?
