any argument they make about video games impacting people in a negative light can be applied to other forms of media such as tv shows, movies to music. I'm tired of the ignorance that plagues politicians who are looking for god damn boogie men to point the finger at. it's all just so damn tiresome.

It's crazy how we can rent a movie that shows people getting raped and their head cut off. People get killed in the most horrible ways possible. The more shocking the better in horror movies. If someone makes a video game with people stealing a car they get blamed even with a warning label. Fucking sad man.

Reminds me of a really recent case that happened in Brazil, where an 18 year-old student murdered a 19 year-old female friend (CODM E-sports player btw) who went to his house to play COD Mobile with him. The guy stabbed her to death and recorded himself laughing while standing by the girl's dead body. The reason I'm saying this is because it causes a bunch of BS to be spewed around by idiots who try to blame videogames for every bad thing that happens. Sure, in this particular event that might even be the case, but it will serve as confirmation bias to those who have always believed this garbage logic to be real.

There have been _repeated_ psychological studies that have concluded again and again video games and violent behavior are not connected. I'm glad that during a pandemic _this_ is what politicians are concerned about.

Car jacking has been a thing since cars have been made. They Jack the car, bring it to a chopshop and scrap the car down into parts and sell. I was watching a youtuber explain how they used to do it. That was back in the 80s!

They do it because they know people will blame the office/authorities for not controlling the crimes. So, what do they do? Blame it on something. Doesn't the same violent stuff happen in movies, and some music mention crimes etc? Movies have been there since more than 100 yrs, Music has been there since humans, so they know they can't attack such powerful industries. So who do they blame? They blame a newly found industry who has just been started from 1980s. They are a weak industry, and the young audience won't be able to do much against it. What do you call people who attack the weak? Bullies.

People blame guns, people blame video games, people blame EVERYTHING and EVERYONE but themselves.

I agree man, and even the small percentage of people who decide to emulate the games in real life tend to have mental issues already, instead of the kids parents and lawyers blaming video games for the crimes the kid commited, they should've gotten the kid some help or therapy instead of blaming video games music and films, any ways, fuck censorship.

The "protect children" argument doesn't even work cause why are the adults allowing them to play it in the first place? Unless they're stealing copies or being disobedient, it's entirely on the parents' shoulders if they're playing a mature game I'm not everyone lol but I played M games like Saints Row 2 and Black Ops when I was 9 and 10 respectively. I wasn't allowed to play it some months after Black Ops released cause my parents finally realized what was in it lol (to be fair tho my oldest brother was 15 and 16 respectively at the time so it was much more gotten for him than for me) but then I could play em again at 14, and I turned out pretty fine I'd say. There's some stuff I'd try to imitate but all the stuff that's within the realm of possibility and legality, I was never risky or illegal or disrespectful with anything I copied from a game. There's plenty of people like me who can play a mature game at a young age and not be negatively affected by it, and there's plenty who can be affected by it. But regardless of either, it is the parents' responsibility if they decide that the kid is not ready for a game and they should be wondering if it's good for them BEFORE getting the game, not after. It's the exact same as movie ratings. The only one at fault is you if you still can't manage to look at the big letter in the bottom left corner that's been there for decades now.

I remember going up to the counter and trying to rent Conker's Bad Fur Day and getting turned down cuz of my age. Went home told my mom and her bf about it. Went back they rented the game for me, changed my life. Ended up beating the game with their parental guidance (they had a blast) and now its a memory of a bonding.
