I went clamming for Horseneck gaper clams in Bodega Bay!
I got messaged at midnight to see if I wanted to join on a clamming adventure in 3 hours. Of course I said yes! I had heard about the clams up there but I'd never seen one in real life.
We drove for about 2 hours from San Jose to finally get there, most of us slept the whole time in the car haha. I wore my waders, big mistake. Once I started actually reaching in for the clams, water and sand started filling the waders and eventually I had to take them off. Just wear swim trunks or a wetsuit if you have one.
It didn't take too long to get a limit of 50 clams, maybe 2 hours. Then we rafted back to the parking area and started hosing off. The water was freezing but I had to wash all the sand and salt off.
Anyways, we get back to San Jose and I got drop off a bunch of clams before I get home. I know I want to eat these raw but I don't know how to properly sashimi these clams. I just decided to cut them in circles and we ate them that way. Delicious!
