I don't remember there being this many weird Pikmin commercials... But apparently they existed. Thanks so much for watching! - EDIT: OH YEAH, and is Hey, Pikmin actually worth playing? It looks kinda cool.
the song used in some of the ads is called Ai no Uta (song of love) by Strawberry Flower and pretty much the song is about the Pikmin wanting to follow Olimar no matter how many times they're pulled, forced to fight, force to carry, and consumed they're keep doing this unending cycle without wanting to be even told by Olimar that he loves them. This song appears as a song hummed by the Pikmin in Pikmin 2.
There should be a song in pikmin 1 about Olimar and how he is slowly losing his mind on the alien world. Without any friends nor family just small creatures who can’t even speak. His dying wish is to see his family one last time. And then have one about pikmin 2 and it’s about Duracell battery’s
Don't worry there is a side B for Ai no Uta in the in the perspective of Olimar called Namida Ga Afureta (Tears Overflow) about how Olimar feels it is difficult to express how he feels about the Pikmin who've helped him get back to Hocotate and that he deeply regret never saying goodbye to them before he left
I just recently finished Pikmin 2 to its false ending, and now I’m going to leave it for a bit to get back at Louie for existing and helping that ravenous space bunny
Pikmin has always been a mix of adorable and terrifying My favourite example of this is in the first game when you have the maximum number of Pikmin and idle for a while they’ll start singing a song in Japanese about how much they love you for helping them and teaching them to survive and that even if you don’t care about them whatsoever and throw their lives away they’ll die happily for you
Pikmin 2 is a classic and my favorite of the series. After playing the P4 demo, I'm a little worried Oatchi might make things too easy, but still seems like a banger of game.
I think I only vaguely recall the Pikmin 2 USA commercial as it was just so bizarre (yet amusing). Nintendo of America's '90s (and early 2000's) marketing was a hell of a drug. The Pikmin series does share something similar to the Kirby series in that at first glance, it is quite cute and charming, however, the deeper you get into it, the more dark and creepy undertones you discover.
in regards to the "Who Are You", I believe it was sort of a way to say "Which Nintendo Character Are You?" They stuck it at the end of a few commercials iirc
Pikmin 4 is actually gonna be my first adventure in the Pikmin series. I can't wait for it to come out! (EDIT: I just realized that Pikmin 4 comes out the day before my birthday, so I'll definitely be getting it)
The lyrics of Ai No uta, that Japanese song Peebs sang beautifully are about the Pikmin loving Olimar for teaching them to survive yet not asking Olimar to love them back
2:08 "who are you" was the slogan for many Gamecube ads, both on tv and in magazines. I recall many paper ads of real life photos where the faces were covered up by Nintendo characters, almaot as if cut out and taped on top of the photo.
The one with the "helping mom" feels like playing video games in front of my husband. He gets so into watching me play he tries to help with his suggestions
I kid you not right after watching this my Pikmin AD is a child builds a whole City for the Pikmin all is fine until a horde of monsters and he leads them into some WW1 tier combat then casually goes inside for Pie as the camera pans out showing that the neighborhood is being over-run
I think Nintendo had very "interesting" ways to market their products at some point. The Wii U era commercials attempted to appeal to hardcore gamers when you're playing on a sequel to the Wii, a console meant for casual players so those commercials were pretty bad. In the 80's and 90's, some of their commercials were ethier simple and okay or they were absolutely insane and bizzarre. (I'm looking at you, "Play it Loud" Nintendo campaign, trying to be like Sega by any means necessary in the mid 90's to compete) The ones from the 2000's are hilarious to me with the use of mascot costumes getting into shenanigans.
The Pikmin 4 demo is worth playing, there's quite a bit of dialogue so you would probably be doing yourself a service by getting through it before the game releases (since you can transfer your save data to the full game)
Hey Pikmin is a good game in my opinion it’s very different from the actual series but it’s a spin-off so what do you expect. It’s a fun simple puzzle platformer with great music and the piklopedia is very funny. Also the music in the ads is called Ai no uta and the lyrics are a lot more sad then your version lmao
I believe that the japanese song is talking about how pikmnil love olimar so much, knowing that they're gonna die, and about how olimar can't express to the pikmin how much he apreciates them for what they do(i think that's what it's about)
After having been aware of the Pikmin games ever since the series started, I've finally decided to make the jump with the Switch releases, and I must admit. They all aged so well, and I am now hyped for Pikmin 4.
pikmin a game that have no desire to play but get so hyped for the fans seeing this is basicly the last game cube era series it gives hope to starfox and fzero fans
So that Japanese song used for pikmin commercials is called “Ai no Uta” and believe it or not, the song is actually a lot more morbid and depressing than your amazing interpretation
PIKMIN YEAH!! as a kid i only recall seeing a trailer for Pikmin 1 included inside another game, Luigi's Mansion, found in Options menu and labeled as "Pikmin Movie"
Aaaah, now I understand why you played like this : you don't want your Pikmins to die. I can't criticize since you did finish the game in time, but another, and arguably more efficient strategy is to send all pikmins on enemies and resources and you'll always end up with far more pikmins gained than lost. 🤣 (Except for the bosses, we need to be careful there.) To be honest it was a stressful playthough to watch for someone who has a different playstyle, but maybe I simply don't understand the value of a Pikmin's life. 😢
Definitely hyped for Pikmin 4, in fact even more than Super Mario RPG, Wonder etc. simply because it's coming out much sooner! Anyway, wow was that first commercial weird indeed... then there there are the Japanese ones with cute visuals and lyrics describing the action on screen, for example the Pikmin 2 one with its song 種のうた "Tane no uta", Song of Seed(s): Aka Pik(u)min wa hi ni tsuyoi, Red Pikmins are resistant to fire; "Ao Pik(u)min wa oborenai", Blue Pikmin don't drown, and so on! The song for Pikmin 1 愛のうた "Ai no uta", Song of Love, is the exception since it's more about Pikmin in general and yes, as Toasty pointed out the lyrics do actually say そして たべられる "soshite taberareru", and then get eaten, in that part! By the way, from the little I've played it Hey Pikmin is fun in its own right so I'd recommend at least trying it if you have the chance.
I am legit planning to take the day off to spend it with my brother so we can play through it on the day it comes out. I mean, I work freelance and to my own schedule, but still. Pretty hyped.
Ai no Uta (the pikmin song) has this as lyrics: Pulled out again, we'll follow you alone. Today once again we'll carry, fight, multiply and be consumed. Left alone again, we'll meet again and be thrown around again. But we'll follow you forever. I guess it's time to play. Maybe we'll go out quietly. Ah..., ah... falling in love... Under that sky... On this planet, where so many life forms live, Today once again we'll carry, fight, multiply and then be consumed. Uprooted, we'll gather, and be thrown. But we won't ask you to love us. I guess it's time to play. Maybe we'll try harder. Ah..., ah... falling in love... Under that sky... We'll work together, fight, and be consumed, But we'll follow you forever. We'll fight, be silent, and follow you, But we won't ask you to love us.
my partner introduced me to the series in full just a month ago, because i was living under a rock and knew about it, but didn't look deeper than that. and then i watched him play. and played a bit myself... and so yeah, i'm incredibly hyped for Pikmin 4-
0:17 ooh god man at leggs makes a return ? i remember it being a pain somewhat back when i fought it and it would always catch me of gaurd when i came across it
