Flannel-lined pants are super comfy and cozy warm. Like you said, natural fabrics like that are so much better than polyester fleece and other synthetics.
I’m glad that you mentioned Audrey Coyne and The Curated. She’s the reason why I purchased my wool coat from there 5 years ago, and I still wear it to this day!
I am so itchy with wool, cashmere and alpaca so: *I have nylon, polyester and cotton blends of shackets and winter coats. *My fave coat is a Mango rain coat with an inner vest lining. *I have a Patagonia down stuffed vest and other puffy vests * Long cotton sleeved sweaters *thermal tights *Vegan leather jackets *tailored pants or denim jeans *ankle length boots *blazers *rain/ snow boots *scarves *beanies *fall dresses that I layer so they’re winter ready
I just had to pause this video and comment to say THANK YOU for sharing such diverse inspo pics. I’m sure it was intentional and for that, I thank you!!!! Hope more creators start to show bodies different than their owns when giving examples. Love, love, LOVE!!!!
My winter is in southern California so my winter staples are as follows: Black faux Leather jacket Cozy knitted sweater, pale pink Tights in black and forest green Boots in a neutral color Long sleeve shirt in a cocoa brown
I live in the northern part of the Netherlands so it rains a lot during the winter. I always go for down-filled parkas that are windproof & waterproof, I have a knee-length one from Uniqlo & a shorter one that I thrifted 5 years ago. I think it’s easier to cycle in shorter parkas, although it’s a bit colder & definitely wetter 😅 Still love a good structured wool coat tho, makes everything a lot more elevated!
Agree on most of these. I have one problem though: Finding wool trousers is not that easy. A lot of things for women is thin polyester, or cotton, so good leggings in wool or silk are a must. The other option that is actually pretty good, though not so chic are the padded outer trousers or skirt. A pair of quilted pants to put over a pair of indoor leggings or trousers, and maybe thermal underwear as well, every woman gets a pair when she has to ackompany her kids to the pulka slope. (Teaching a 4yo skiing cross country in -15 is no play). The quilted, zippered skirt version is easier when You have to take it off in (crowded ) entrances at parties or restaurants.
Here in New Mexico its dry and semi cold with low precipiation. Nobody here wears wool so the cute coats I love are not really needed and way too much for us. My staples in this climate are: Cropped down jacket, hi waisted jeans, big chunky Sam Edelman boots, sporty cotton sweatshirts (H&M), light scarves and lots of berets, beanies and knitted caps.
I agree with you about natural fibers to keep you warm. I live in Montana so need the sweaters and coats. In the last few years I have built a collection of cashmere sweaters ( second hand) and two 100% cashmere coats. ( also pre loved) I just search for brands that you can find secondhand like department stores Barney’s Bloomingdale’s etc. I added a brown one this year. Funny you mention the curated blazer because it has been on my wishlist for years for the very reason of the silk lining.I find amazing silk and wool vintage blazers but they all have synthetic linings. I think there is a big opportunity for someone to create a line of all natural blazers at a more affordable price point..someday…
Excellent video! You're absolutely right about the natural fibers. I have sensitive skin and I can't do wool. But thankfully I can do cotton and soft cashmere (some are scratchy). Over the years of thrifting I've found beautiful cashmere sweaters and scarves. My tip is to look for them off-season such as early Spring and summer.
I filmed this video before I inspected it more closely which was the tiktok! the brand saw it and they said that was unusual for their standards so they’re sending me a new one. Keep you posted on it when I get the replacement!
Thank you for another great video. For me, it's got to be padded gloves, because I'm happiest outside but I feel the cold; and scarves in colours which suit me.
Beautiful chic choices! Obsessed how you also showed diversity of bodies in your sample photos 👏. I've always wanted to order from Songmont but wasn't sure if they had unexpected custom fees. I bought a Polene purse recently, and the duties were so high. I also live in Toronto. Great vid 😊
My most reached for (fall and early winter essential) also being a Torontonian, is my heavy wool boucle and leather coat from Club Monaco. Though I admit to defaulting almost daily to the common black washable long down puffer parka once the slush and road salt sets in.
Wow Wow Christina what a wonderful timing and I really love your style so so much you are looking very very pretty and I wish you have a beautiful week ahead♥️🥺♥️♥️
natural fiber knits for sure! dark denim and good leather boots with a natural rubber sole, absolute must- I live in northern Idaho, right by the Canadian border.
Christina pls do us a favor and share with us your face skin routine i think I'm not the only one who want a video about that cuz your skin is beautiful ❤😊 merci énorme 🙏🏼
It’s summer here now but this video just helped me remember I had 2 winter coats in my wardrobe which I completely forgot about, which means I better do some organising and decluttering! 😬
Love your pieces! Thanks for the tips around winter dressing, like dark trousers over light because of slush. Very important! My winter staples are thing layering pieces so that I'm warm outside but not too hot indoors. Also, a nice coat so that I'm warm and look put together.
I like loose jeans in winter to add leggings underneath. I have a pair of down pants (not quilted) for very old locations. My 35 year old robe like long wool coat is still my go to for cold wind and snow weather. I only learned about buying overcoat in larger size this year to accommodate blazer or heavy knit. No wonder my size 4 coats are limiting; a thin merino sweater being the only option 😂
Hi Christina! I’m also in Toronto and I’m struggling with good fabrics to wear in the winter that won’t get ruined from rock salt and slush. Especially ones that are natural (not polyester) and not denim. I have eczema and can’t wear polyester, I also work in a corporate setting so I can’t wear denim everyday. Could you do a video on this and how to care for winter garments in general? Thanks!
Thanks so much for responding! It's so pretty on you and our coloring is similar, so I might give it a try. I have meant to thank you for a while now for recommending the Jones Road brow pencil!! I just love it, but I can't seem to find the video you recommended it in.
i am 5' 10" and have X-long arms. It's nearly impossible for me to find clothes that fit me- So frustrating, I live on West Coast Canada. I'm open to any suggestions!💕
I like the way you approach to the fashion:) I have a similar one carmel coat I bough it on vinted it is a second hand coat and I love it. What can I pair with it to look more casual ? what do u think about a kniited dress ? What goes with it the best?
I moved from Ohio, where it is cold. To Georgia, where I thought it would be warm. But when I check the weather here were one degree warmer than Ohio, which is eight hours away. I wear cashmere sweaters and sweatshirts here. I don’t go out much. We finished our Christmas shopping on Monday. But it was nice that day. Now I just have to clean and cook for Christmas. Oh, and wrap gifts. I bought a camel wool coat this year. And I’m sure I’ll get to wear it in the next few months. I already own a trench coat with a lining that zips in and out. I’ve had it for years. I just bought two pairs of boots. They haven’t arrived yet. I wore an old pair a few weeks ago. And they are too tight. And not at all comfortable. So they will be going in the trash. I like the handbags. But I have a lot already. I don’t change out my bag all the time. Maybe two or three times a year. And I spent a lot on a designer bag so I have to carry that one until I die. The. My oldest granddaughter already claimed it.
Thanks for the inspiration. I also love wool sweaters and try to get them second hand or made from recycled wool, because of the way the animals are treated 🙁 my next project is to knitt a sweater from my old ones 🙂
Do you havea video that is similar to this but with affordable options? Everything posted here is very expensive and not many ppl can afford the prices of Songmont for example.
So much emphasis on animal-derived materials :( If one really wants to wear leather or wool, make sure it's second hand so you're not directly fuelling the industries!
Yes. My wool coats and wool jumpers have been second hand sourced. If you take care of them and wear them in rotation, they can last many, many years. There is more joy in coming across something unique and good quality second hand. Your money is your vote. It continues to fuel which ever industry you choose to buy in to.
