Honestly, I think him doing the "50 hour challenge" thing is justified. Nobody is going to watch a video that's informative. People want that dopamine and he knows exactly how to feed it to them. This in turn gets him more views, more people get to know about the condition of these countries, more people donate.

For a sec I thought the stuff this guy has said in the video were kinda uncalled for and messed up in a way but after approaching to the end of this vid, I realize that he's heading to the right direction of helping those Africans in need that he did managed to set up a GoFundMe page for ppl to donate. Also him being able to get a wheelchair for the boy who can't walk was very nice 💯🙏🏾 which I respect him for that. I can say this RU-vidr's a good guy but his head wasn't in the right place for the most part.

I have been going to Thailand for the last 20 years to train and fight Muay Thai and the norm there is to make a deal for everything you buy. At first, you go hard in the paint... even using the "walk away" tactic to have them chase you down to say they will take your offer. Then you get back to your room, sit back to do the calculation, and realize that you are bartering for 30 cents. It means everything to them but is often "throw away" change/money for us. After I came to that realization, I stopped negotiating and often gave them extra. Remember, the poorest 20% of Americans are richer, on average, than most European Nations. Now imagine places like Africa, Asia, South America, Central America, etc

I assure yoj when you live in the States you'll find that the price of living is much cheaper in countries like this. I'm South African and it always annoys me when people come to African countries and paint them like this. They want nothing to do with the people or the culture but act as if they are there for the people. There was a situation where a church group was exposed going to the poorest part of Mpumalanga (one of our provinces) saying that they're doing charity and helping the community. When it turns out when they arrived here they just took pictures with people mainly children living in poverty and read the Bible to them. As if South Africans don't know christ, our anthem is practically a prayer. They also claimed to build things like toilets and stuff in the community even though THEY WERE ALREADY THERE. These people spent most of their time in fancy hotels and relaxing at the Kruger National park. The Funny thing is that the people who funded them didn’t even know that the church group was just lying about helping because no one follows up on these things. The only reason they were exposed is because 2 of their members made a series of videos about it. The white savior nonsense is honestly disgusting. If you don't care please just donate to an established organization that does. And if you wouldn't do it if there was no camera to record you chances are you don't care. And that's OK but please don't use people's struggles and misfortune for clout.

Imo the video wasn't intentionally meant to "insult" the way people in Burundi live, but the reason it came out that way could be that the youtubers first language isn't English. Maybe he isn't able to convey his ideas in the right way.

For context: he is in Burundi and according to the GDP it is the poorest country in the world. more than 50% of the population lives of (less than) 1$ a day. The reason that they're so poor is due to a genocide that has been going on between the Hutus and the Tutsis ended around 2000, which was then followed by the power being handed of to a corrupt president. The national language is kirundi and their currency is burundian franc.
