Here are some helpful tips to know when planning on using a Thetford Porta Potti on a trip. This video shows some of the features of the potti, but the tips from using it with three kids will save you some hassle on your next trip!
you dont hold the wast tank vertical when opening the dump pipe you leave it laying down open the pipe and rotate to empty position and lift the tank up; that way you can fill the waste tank more
So happy i came across your video. Thanks for emphasizing and gently repeating important suggestions, instead of going quickly... as many other people do in their videos. Your video was the BEST! I have been thinking of getting this particular Porta Potti, because of it's high ratings, and I love the fact it is taller in height compared to many other porta potties. Thanks again! 🙂
I see a video for the no 2 , I have a 5 litre container with water with a mix of chemical, pour water into the bog and place some tissue as a splash back protector. Do your dump, wipe and swipe. Put the seat back down then at the same time, pull the slider and press the flush a few times. Pull back slider , lift up the seat and inspect. Job done till the next day. Its a good loo. Ps, dont use bleach or any other chemicals as the seals will parish.
Thanks for the video! I got a few questions.... do you keep the hole closed and fill it with a bit of water before you poo? Or do you open the hole then poo in there dry? I pray no one will ever poo in mine but I gotta know just in case.
I recommend always leaving a small amount of water on the seal. I also recommend keeping it closed while doing anything and only open it to flush. Keeping a bit of water on the closed seal helps reduce odor.
how long after use does it take for the chemicals in the waste holding tank to liquify waste? I'm interested in emptying waste tank as quick as possible in only liquid form. Also, there are different brands of waste tank treatment, like aqua max, aqua bio, and campa fresh. Do they all perform the same?
How can you go off-grid in a teardrop trailer for a couple of weeks and expect to drain this porta potty? Would you dump it out in a bush somewhere? It is natural.
@@CTnaturalist Thank you for the reply. My question is sincere. I discovered a new toilet, the Trelino composting toilet. It's remarkable and separates liquid from solids, with no moving parts. Obviously, compost mixed with poop would have to be dumped legally. My question is, why can't pee be dumped in a bush? Piss is totally natural. It's not like you're dumping chemicals. I would never dump piss in a river or stream but I don't see what's wrong with dumping pee on the land. There's ethics about this and I'm uncertain one way or the other.
Dude is carrying the cassette *UPSIDE DOWN!* ! Carry from the BACK HANDLE with the spout turned vertical. That way the waste is NEVER higher than the cap when you open it..
Surely fellow campers don't want you emptying these (or cassettes for that matter) into the campground toilets. I'm guessing the campground doesn't want it either. So where do you empty these things mid trip?
Great product as regards flushing and waste disposal but is far too small for an adult to sit on. Just got one yesterday and it's so obvious that the product is too small. I just can't see why they make it so small. It's empty of waste and water weight is very low. And I think even if the chambers were full they can be separated so can be moved quite easily by most people. Good idea poorly executed in my opinion. The desire to make it as small as possible has overridden the need to make this product easy to use as intended. Should be the same size as a normal toilet seat and I don't think that would be difficult to do.
