LOL those look like dish gloves. I do hope your doctor didn't use those 😂 Wouldn't have thought to use olive oil. That amuses me. That really doesn't appear to be too difficult of a repair. Well I do hope that fixes your leak issue. That was a nice tutorial on how to replace the seal.
