I learned a lot from this video. I didn't know I could upgrade my huts. I just got the game ago yesterday and was wondering on a campaign mission how to get to 800 population, it makes sense now. Thanks partner.
For this map I build a double row of houses either side of the command centre and place a Market and Bank in the middle of where you placed your 2nd row. The M+B reach perfectly and you can really maximise your housing. Just a tip for "next time". 😉❤
Also: if you build your farms at the edge of the map and pull your walls in a bit to the "natural chokepoints" then you need less shocking towers and defenses, and you can destroy all of your farms before the wave comes. This saves a ton on defense building and space. 😁
Techs unlocked at this mission: Commerce: (Markets.) Currency: (Banks.) Concrete: (Stone walls and stone gates.) Chemistry: (+20% Soldier damage.) Insulating materials: (Reduces power consumption of cottages and stone houses by 1 and 2 respectively.) WONDER UNLOCKED: Crystal Palace. (+800 Food supply when constructed. Perfect for helping with missions like The Valley of Death. Where food is hard to come by.)
Got a question about something I’ve seen you do for yearsss. You tend to put a mill half on farm land even if there is space to leave it completely off any farm plots. Edit: oh wait, do you only do that when it’s between farms? That would make sense. I’ll have to pay more attention lmao
Normally you put your mills on unused land, but when there's no space left you can squeeze in extra power by placing on top of farmland in between farms. You give up 4 units of food (since the space under the mill can't be farmed), but you get the full power output for the mill. It's just one of his min/maxing strategies to get the most power out of what he gets.
Kensei, did you know that when you put anything on your farm field, it lowers food production slightly? I checked before and after and it lessens depending how many tiles of farm I cover.
