You know I have some plans for a beginner tutorial for it. But to give maybe some advice: I was strugling too, never able to survive the last wave from all sides. First thing to understand - economy is king in this game. Waves are getting stronger and your growing economy should counter that. That being said, if you do not focus on economy early game then by late game you are too far behind. Start with building two lumber yards asap, some houses and the food production building. Stone production next up. First goal: upgrade the keep. Second thing - how your defences look like. The most popular and effective design is a wall, behind it a line of towers with archers and then balista towers. I personaly like to put some fire towers in the middle but that is just me :) Your bigger threat are those giant monters that crush everything like crazy - mobile balistas with the stun upgrade are great for slowing them down so other things can kill them. I guess understanding that helped me to get my first victory but it is never easy :)
