Today, we view the SEC and Big Ten football conferences as the most dominant conferences in all of college football. While some may think the SEC has the most football national titles with their 39 there is actually a conference with more and you probably won’t be able to guess which conference that is. I am going to give you a second to think about it. That conference is the Ivy League football conference with over 50 national titles in football. The Ivy League is a conference that has been forgotten among the greats but it is the conference that gives us a glimpse of what college football used to be. A little snapshot into the past. Before television money money-guided decisions before regional rivalries were decimated by conference realignment. This is the history of the Ivy League football conference, the most historically dominant football conference of all time.

Ivy doesn't even play in the postseason anymore because its during their finals week, and they still lead in titles won

They could. Don’t believe that finals bs. All their other sports teams play postseason but they punish the football players.

@@RicsamgWhy bother having football at all then?
@Ricsamg
@Ricsamg 10 месяцев назад
@@stevendebettencourt7651 IDK. There’s some serious football history there and the Harvard Yale game is one of the longest rivalries around. In D3, the NESCAC also does the same BS. All other sports play post season but football is limited to Conf only, 9 games no postseason. They say it’s for player safety. Many of those top D3 players in this league are in the same recruiting pool as they have the academics to make it at these schools.

I think its ironic that they start late, yet don’t participate in playoffs because itd cause their season to go too late

If the Ivy League wanted to use their endowments in the NIL era, they would be dominant. They are so rich, they could buy any talent or transfers they want

agreed. These other leagues don't want to mess with Ivy League $$$. If those schools really wanted to they could easily stroke a national title check.

Ivy League is only the Ivy League because of football. We use the term to refer to their academics, but they became a conference so they could distinguish themselves from the rest of the NCAA.

Thank you for this…As a huge CFB fan I truly admire and respect the obvious that a Student-Athlete is just that…a student first and Athlete second. I had no idea of the shortened season or no tackle practices

This dominance led to deaths and injuries thanks to Yale and Walter Camp. It is hands down one of the most dangerous ways to win those championships.

Yale had easily the most dominant run in college football history, 27 of the 51 ivy league national titles belong to Yale, if the ivy league were still in the FBS we would be talking about Harvard, Princeton, and Yale the same way we do Notre Dame, Nebraska and Texas

It's still good football - and while they don't give athletic scholarships, their aid packages are very strong.

As a student at Cornell, many players I've met with just wish they could play in bowl games. They see getting an education above sports which basically matches up with the 1945 agreement to this day

Not really viable for either Harvard or Yale; Harvard Stadium and the Yale Bowl are both U.S National Historic Landmarks and there's only so much you can legally do to them in terms of renovations (and certainly not demolish them). This is doubly bad for Yale, as the Yale Bowl is really just a pit on a hill (and doesn't even have locker rooms ... or RESTROOMS!). At least Harvard Stadium has these (I think) and looks nice (almost like something from Ancient Rome was pulled through time to today).

The Ivy League certainly was the dominant league in the late 1800s and first few decades of the 1900s. Since then, NOT. So ancient history?

Actually, I wish ALL of college football would adopt the Ivy model: no scholarships, no bowls. Big money has horribly polluted college football.
