If he had the lowered defenses, he probably would've gotten knocked out by the Fickle Beam. It would work if Minior for whatever reason was slower before using the Shell Smash, but that just seems like a massive gamble given that it has 120 base speed in the core form. It'll naturally outspeed most opponents.

@@CottidaeSEA I only watched the beginning break down of the Pokémon before commenting and I don’t think that that’ll happen in most matches, so I still feel like it would be better

@@eeveewithcoffee9554 With 120 base speed and +2 you're looking at only a handful of Pokémon that could outspeed it with scarf, so more speed is useless. More attack could be useful, but the only time I can think of when that would even matter is if the opponent has something that completely walls Minior and the extra power is necessary. However, are those cases more common than the cases where you'd get knocked out if -1 defenses? I don't think so. There's also the risk of not getting hit down to core form and not using the berry, leading to your Acrobatics being half power. That is probably even more rare, but it depends on if your opponent knows what Minior does.
