McDonald's along with Burger King, Wendy's, Subway, and many other fast food restaurants are making a last ditch effort to provide cheap meal deals temporarily to get customers back in the store. But how will this help them in the long run if people are only coming to buy these cheap deals and nothing else? Also, even with these deals, the foot traffic increase has been lackluster. Sounds like a sign of a strong economy....

Someone said that it's time to be concerned when you start to see individuals shoplifting groceries rather than big-screen televisions, and i agree. Truth is, inflation will never reach 2% ever again, maybe in the next life, but not this one. Anyone purchasing groceries and gasoline is aware that real inflation is much over 10%; they simply lie about it like cheap blankets. In reality, interest rates would be in the 20s because of how high inflation is. But then despite the severe bear market, I am aware of certain investors that continue to earn over $365,000. Wish I could accomplish that.

BK has been running a deal, about to expire in a week or so for $15 or $16 with a coupon. Two whoppers (superior to McDonald's), two large fries, and two large drinks. I'm no longer enthusiastic about cooking, but I do it for various reasons including saving money. There are lots of ready made sauces in grocery stores. I use them quite a bit. It makes some things easier. Just about any common cuisine as well. We also buy select frozen foods. One of our favorites is stuffed peppers. Stouffers is good as is the Walmart brand. The supplied cooking directions are wrong however. Add ~30-40 minutes. Even if you spend a little extra to have grocery store favorites ("gourmet"?), you're still ahead of the game. Lastly consider insulated containers for keeping food hot while you travel. "Thermos" has more than just the classic bottles used for coffee, etc. Check the houseware department as well as sporting goods.

Here in Oregon you can still buy eight frozen 93% lean beef 1/4 lb patties for about $10. Buy some bread for $3 and that's just $1.60 per quarter-pounder with SEVEN more waiting for whenever you want one. Way more filling since it's much leaner than the cheap junk. just did a quick search at Walmart online of 10 breaded fish filets, 8 hamburger buns, tartar sauce, 2 lb French fries, 2L soda and package of about 20 cookies....cost was $15. I could eat a double fish sandwich, big fries, soda and have dessert 5x for $3 a meal. Doesn't take long to make either and not messy, just throw the fish and fries in the oven or air fryer for 10 minutes

Former realtor in San Diego here. A healthy house market starts w the first time buyer. That buyer is almost gone. That leads to several problems. People w equity cannot sell because 1)who is going to buy their bubble priced house and 2)where would they go? Many people have mortgages way cheaper than rent. A 2/2 apartment is 3k a month. So people can't even sell to take a job in another city.

Last Friday we went to McDs for some fast food, all in all we had 3 combos, Quarter pounder BLT meal, Crispy chicken BLT meal and a 10 McNugget meal.. I think we also added one chocolate chip cookie.. Total was $51.xx.. Three McDs combos!?! Also with the portions, drinks and burgers getting smaller and smaller, these prices are completely insane. We dont go to McDs for great taste, we used to go for a quick cheap meal.. From now on McDs is off the list. Any other fast food at those prices for that matter are also out. Over the past 15 years, Chipotle stock has averaged an annual gain of 28%, easily outpacing the S&P 500's 14.8% total return (price change plus dividends). While many fast-food restaurants have been struggling with growth lately, Chipotle has still been posting strong numbers. For the first three months of 2024, revenue rose by 14% to $2.7 billion. And its comparable-store sales (comps) were also up 7%.May 10, 2024

No typical home equity loan or mortgage I've ever heard of becomes "callable" if the amount of equity securing that loan becomes negative. As long as the borrower continues to make their payments, nothing happens. If you have a line of credit secured by a home that is untapped or a portion of that line is untapped, then yes, the lender normally has a right to cancel the entire line or the untapped portion of the line. Either way, that doesn't end in the loan being "called". Normally any portion of a real estate loan that is outstanding and later moves into negative equity territory, that portion simply becomes an unsecured loan for the lender.

A $5.00 crap meal (at least $5.33 after taxation [is theft]), with enough daily customer averages, is plenty enough to support their labor cost and overhead with a small daily profit. The problem becomes the profit is not enough to support stock/shareholders, future expansions, or the huge salaries and bonuses of the upper administration members. We used to be able to combat this by shopping local. Yet this has been polluted by online shopping and the destruction of the mom-n-pop industry, which began at least 40 years ago.
