I get that occasionally at the coffee-and-donut shop I work for. "Keep an eye on this, it's been temping too warm." **dramatic eye roll, deep sigh** "OK... Why is there still food in it, if it's temping too warm? Do you want us to get sued or something?"

Gotta love when they know the box isn't down to temperature but they keep the food in it anyways. I know food is good for 6 hours when it gets past 41 degrees but I bet we all know that wasn't the case here.

@markae0 I do some work for a chain pizza place and a customer of theirs walked in while I was working on their pizza prep cooler and asked "This the place that got people sick with cookie dough?" They replied "Yes!" AND LAUGHED. They still got pizza from them. So in short yes an authority will track down what happened but no it wont deter people as much as youd hope 😂

Where I worked, they had a capital construction remodel done in the food service and culinary arts areas(a college). Walk-in coolers and freezers were added with remote condensing units installed on the roof. This work was done by contractors who were part of the bids for the remodel. I always had problems with these during cooler and winter ambient temps (in the Buffalo, NY area). After the warranty time, I had to figure this out since the contractor techs just topped off the charge all the time. I got all the info on the units, researched them and got it down to the head pressure control valves. I tested the valves and had two bad ones I had to replace. Comes down to, the installers never added the extra winter charge. So I recovered each unit and then recharged them to include the winter charge in addition to the normal charge, following the service manual for the unit model numbers. I never had problems like that after doing the proper charges.

Back in Europe there's no such option for the customer to deny a leak check. If the system is low on charge they're obliged to let us do it due to the f-gas regulation. As I've mentioned earlier we can't just gas and go w/o presenting any leak repair...

I get that wasn't the problem here, but if I have lowboy drawer set up and change one coil/txv its hard to check sh because of the common suction, one valve could be overfeeding/underfeeding.

If system leaks total charge within a year, it must be fixed or replaced
@jollygreen4639
@jollygreen4639 9 месяцев назад
Regs changed then, after the implementations of them after the Montreal Protocol in the late ‘80’s. No more dumping a charge into the air, only deminimus release allowed such as in gage set hoses, recovery machines were required, and any leak found must be repaired in a reasonable but limited time. Not following these rules and getting caught resulted in possible high cost fines; there was a “bounty” system then, where someone could report an obvious disregard of these rules and receive a reward if the infraction was found to be a blatant infraction.

@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 8 месяцев назад
if it's working right and they're closed at that time, the food should stay at safe temperature, coils fully defrost and everything recovery pretty fast when it leaves defrost. now if they leave the (stupidly placed and broken down) cooking equipment overtop of them on all night, all bets are off. the cooking equipment above them is likely broken, missing parts, air circulation and directly heating the temporary "line cooking" boxes below. they are really only meant to store the product that will be used in roughly a few hours time anyway.(yeah, nobody knows/does that and it gets used for all day/multiple days storage.)
