"Organ" is too wide use of a term. It must be intestines. Which is also still used for real sausages. It is also delicate street food found in Turkey called kokoreç which seems inherited from Byzantines.
No idea why they made Jaime do THAT to Cersei over Joffrey’s body like that; it wasn’t in the books at all and is totally out of character for Jaime this far into the story
**The scene WAS in the book, but it was translated very poorly onto the screen.** She touched his face. “I was lost without you, Jaime. I was afraid the Starks would send me your head. I could not have borne that.” She kissed him. A light kiss, the merest brush of her lips on his, but he could feel her tremble as he slid his arms around her. “I am not whole without you.” There was no tenderness in the kiss he returned to her, only hunger. Her mouth opened for his tongue. “No,” she said weakly when his lips moved down her neck, “not here. The septons …” “The Others can take the septons.” He kissed her again, kissed her silent, kissed her until she moaned. Then he knocked the candles aside and lifted her up onto the Mother’s altar, pushing up her skirts and the silken shift beneath. She pounded on his chest with feeble fists, murmuring about the risk, the danger, about their father, about the septons, about the wrath of the gods. He never heard her. He undid his breeches and climbed up and pushed her bare white legs apart. One hand slid up her thigh and underneath her small-clothes. He tore them away. “Hurry,” she was whispering now, “quickly, quickly, now, do it now, do me now. Jaime Jaime Jaime.” Her hands helped guide him. “Yes,” Cersei said as he thrust, “my brother, sweet brother, yes, like that, yes , I have you, you’re home now, you’re home now, you’re home.” She kissed his ear and stroked his short bristly hair. Jaime lost himself in her flesh.
The tv series started to diverge from the book around this season. I was really outraged the first time I saw GOT on I felt it was mostly with Sansa stark and Little finger where it started though, and leaving Catherine Stark resurrection out.
Jaime raping Cersei never happened in the books. The showrunners did it for shock value. Pissed a lot of people off when it aired. Felt totally out of character.
They didn’t do it for shock value they did it because people were treating Jamie like he was a good guy so they had to do something to make it very clear he’s not and yet people still defended the jerk and still made him one of the good guys It’s the same reason they had him kill his cousin they were trying to get people to look past Jamie’s face and remember he’s not one of the good ones
@@tracim3080 Jaime's crimes are pushing Bran out the window and fathering bastards with his narcissistic sister. Instead of addressing his guilt, the show adds more dumb evil things for him to do that feel inconsistent with his development as a character. Jaime's tribulations away from court and his sister allow him to grow into a better man. That's why people love Jaime so much. He always wanted to be an honorable man, and he sacrificed his honor to save a city. He wanted Ned Stark's respect.
28:22 The thing with Dorne is that during Aegon's Conquest they were the only ones unconquered because of the fact that Dorne is mostly desert so Aegon's men were not able to invade it and they also pretty much messed up with Aegon (they were hiding and after Aegon's dragons flew away they came back and stuff like that) and the fact that they managed to kill one of Aegon's sister along with her dragon, Meraxes. Dorne remained unconquered for around 100 - 150 years until Daeron II, who married a Martell girl and thus united Dorne with the rest of the kingdoms. (if I missed anything tell me y'all)
@@theo1216 I don’t know what’s worse, that in the books it was actually consensual, or that D&D were under the impression that the scene would come off as consensual.
The dumbest decision. Jamie has always been gray but NEVER as a ra...ist. We had planty of those in GOT. Now Jamie joined the ranks. Heck, even Drogo had ra..ed women before, but with Dany (in the books ) was different. D&D managed to mess even Drogo up additionally AS IF HE NEEDED more gray. D&D were dumb freaks from the get-go, but we noticed it when the OG material was gone. Now, I can stand the show thanks to funny and interesting reactors like this great guy.
@@Tvhurdghit4fhi6rrDaenerys’ final scene in S3 is pretty off-putting too. I understand the explanation of its production but it just ended up looking total white saviour-esque and really annoying. That and this Jaime scene are 2 minor little stains on an otherwise perfect 4-season run. Shirtless Ramsay in 4x6 and the Beetle story in 4x8 are also hated on, but I don’t find them as egregious. Anyways, I don’t like to be that person that nitpicks those first 4 seasons. We were lucky they didn’t have more stains. Phenomenal television
"Maybe that's a tiny sock?" Well in some ways, a condom is a tiny sock 😂 But yeah that's likely what that was. A reusable condom made from sheep guts or something like that.
The rewind and shot analysis had me dying. The complete denial about the condom reminded me of when Theon burned the boys. I still remember Barry's denial that they were only wooden sculptures 😂
To me its like she wasnt against it, she just thought it was wrong to do it infront of their dead son. I also think she didn't resist because she intends to manipulate Jaime even more. In the recap they showed at the beginning she said 'You took too long' She is giving Jaime what he wants so she can order him to kill Tyrion.
That was intentional because they were trying to get the audience to dislike Jamie because it’s the audience kept considering him a good guy and going way too hard in the sympathy category when he was written to be morally, Grey at best and a bad guy for the majority
28:18 Yep, Aegon the Conqueror wasn't able to add Dorne to his land. His sister-wife Rhaenys was killed during his fights with the Dornish after her dragon, was hit with a bolt, and died.Several Targeryen kings after that tried to conquer Dorne afterwards, the main one being Dareon the first, the Young Dragon, but they were all unsuccesful.Dorne was finally added into the Seven Kingdoms through a marrige pact between the Dornish princess and Dareon the second.
HEAR YE, HEAR YE!! OUR LORD GRACES US WITH HIS BOUNTIFUL WISDOM & RIOTOUS LAUGHTER 🙌🔥🍻 edit: about the Dorne rebellion thing-their country is mostly desert with a Rocky Mountain range separating it from the south lands of the Reach (below Highgarden). when Aegon went to invade Dorne, the dragons were not acclimated to the hot dry environments of the desert. that’s just the base of what I know, but since Aegon didn’t conquer them, they made a marriage pact to ensure their peace to the newly conquered Realm
It's hard, sometimes, to know Tywin's true opinions or motives when he is using discretion, but I always understood his dismissal of Joffrey's concerns where Daenerys and her dragons were concerned as simply him not wanting Joffrey involved. He had already moved the small council closer to his own quarters than the King's and as Joffrey himself observed, he had not invited his grandson to any of the meetings. It's possible that he genuinely didn't take the threat seriously at the time when he described the dragons as "curiosities on the other side of the world" in front of Joffrey, but if Robert saw the danger at an even earlier point when only the Dothraki and the dragon eggs were on Daenerys' side, I find it hard to believe that he didn't have some level of understanding.
I never noticed before that Sansa said "WE'RE" all liars here... instead of "THEY'RE"... when Baelish revealed that he had the necklace made a few weeks ago. It's so indicative of how the game of thrones resembles any form of power.
@@Polo-wk7zl I mean yes, but she is a liar too. She is not as conniving and manipulative as the rest, but she is also playing a role to survive so that can be considered as being a liar as well
Barry, Joffrey’s assassination was just what Tywinneeded. You already saw the conflict between the two. In another year, Joffrey would have come of age, and he would have dismissed Tywin as hand of the king. Joffrey’s assassination was a huge favor to Tywin even if they assassin didn’t know it. Believe me when I tell you that Tywin would have assassinated Joffrey within the next year. He didn’t have his own power base. And no one needed him. They just need a “son” of King Robert. We have evidence of condoms from around five hundred years ago…. maybe two thousand years, but we don’t have any actual proof. Sex is not a new thing. They did not live in a disposable society. It took someone days to make that condom.. it is valuable. Regarding Jaime… In the books, every chapter is written from a specific character’s point of view. All information given and received is understood through that characters, brain and heart. In his chapters, Jaime remembers numerous encounters with his sister. Many, many times she protested. But in the end, she always gave in to him. This was kind of their regular method. I understand that when she finally said no that he did not hear her. I understand that many viewers do not want to believe that he is capable of r--. He has been a soldier all of his life and seen many men r--women. He was ordered to stand aside and let the mad king r-- the queen to produce Daenerys. Jaime’s redemption arc is something that is hoped for, and wished for by the fan base. It is desired by me in this series. But I am convinced it will not happen. Jaime is a villain. He told us what he would do for love, and thus what he considers as love, at the end of the first episode. It bothers me that fans are bothered by this scene. He has already attempted to murder an eight-year-old boy, committed incest, committed high treason, assaulted the hand of the king, murdered the hand’s guards, undertaken an illegal war, murdered, lied, cheated, and coerced his way home. And now fans quibble about crossing the line with his sex partner? By the way, they’ve been sexual with each other since they were about six years old. Three hundred years before Eddard’s death, Aegon Targaryen conquered six of the seven kingdoms within two years. A few years later, Aegon fought Dorne. The Dornish held off the Targaryens for a hundred and fifty years. At that point the Targaryens formed a marriage alliance with House Martell and brought Dorne into the kingdom. Anyway, thank you for the journey. I don’t know that I will be watching anymore of your videos. This is not because of the quality of your videos know your commentary. I appreciate both. But I am a fan of the books and I do not want to pursue the television adaptation to far. I will watch to see your reaction through the end of Tyrion’s trial.
28:18 if you watch conquests and rebellions you will know exactly how they resisted the dragons. it explains aegons conquest much better. watch it already. xD
Barry, this season of Thrones is peak, but fair warning the books the series is based on was never finished. And and some storylines in season 5 run out of source material, by the time of s6 the showrunners were making their own story and unfortunately, s5 on the quality of the story goes down. I’m sure you’ll still love some of it (the budget and hence the spectacle and battles only gets bigger) but the quotable lines and amazing dialogue spats that made game of thrones what it is does go away. So enjoy the best season my king! Because winter IS coming.
You're only sort of correct. Season 5 should have been two seasons, but the showrunners only agreed to do 7 seasons and had to be coaxed into doing 8. There was still source material to be adapted come S6, they just rushed the fuck out of it and cut out some major plots. The Dornish and Ironborn plots from AFFC should have been done justice but they were not.
@@1HalfbloodPrinceThe writing was definitely worse and had may more weird lines and plot holes in season 6 but all the set up in season 5 climaxed in season 6 so it was pretty entertaining
28:30 i’m pretty sure it was guerrilla tactics that made it so conquering Dorne just wasn’t worth it so they retreated and let them keep their independence the Dornish would ambush supply lines crippling his armies while retreating to the mountains and sands, never meeting the dragons in an open field combat (for obvious reasons)
It took a century after Aegons landing before Dorne joined the fold. It was also not out of submission. They joined with marriage. That is also why the Dornish still call themselves princes and princesses ie; Prince Oberyn. 👑 Keep up the epic work 🤩
Sam was only thinking of Gilly (and little Sam's) well-being when finding her a place to stay in Mole's Town. It was the best thing he could do under the circumstances. He knew better than her what type of men she was surrounded by at the Wall. Saying it should have been her decision (to let her stay at the wall) makes little sense since technically she's there against the rules, and just because she was made a temporary guest by Maester Aemon didn't guarantee her protection. The brothel in Mole's Town may not have been an ideal place for her and the baby, but generally speaking, she was safer there surrounded by women -- and she had permission.
Tywin's discussion with Oberyn really had nothing to do with Tyrion and whether or not he was guilty. The trial was just an opportunity to bring Dorne into the fold. Tywin didn't need Oberyn's vote, he already had the two he needed. Bonus for Tywin that it could also make the trial appear more fair.
Unlike, say, in "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", in this show characters always give a correct guess when confronted about their allegiance by strangers.
11:02 this scene confused and grossed a lot of ppl tbh EDIT: for context i don’t think this happened in the books and on top of that it just makes 0 sense for a multitude of reasons and is one of many instances of the writers just doing shit to be edgy/bc they ran out of material
I never noticed the condom 😂 and I've watched this many times. The Dornish words are Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken. The Dornish killed Queen Rhaenys and her dragon Meraxes. She was one of the sister wives of Aegon the Conquer.
The showrunners are something else. This is one of the places where you really start to see their influence overtake GRRM's from the story in the book, to the one that's being told on screen. The week after the episode first aired, in response to the public disgust with Jaime, they came out and tried to clear it up, saying that it hadn't been their intention for the scene to come across as an SA. So Jaime didn't SA Cersei. It was bad directing and editing. smh I guess D&D just didn't see what everyone else did. It's a theme that starts repeating itself more often, and more loudly, as we keep going. Wouldn't want to be a mother/daughter/sister/wife in the showrunners'/directors' families.
36:20 in the books Daenerys' champion is strong belwas (one of the many black characters cut from the show) and he actually takes a shit towards the city after killing their champion lol.
The Jamie/Cersei scene with dead Joffrey is pretty gross but the scene with Hound and Arya and the old man and his daughter, Hound busts up old dude and takes their gold, that one really gets me, but it does come full circle a bit later on, no spoiler just some poetic turnabout of events, some good writing.
22:40 I know this show isn't real, but the eras that inspired the show did include condom usage lol. The oldest condom ever found was from the 1600s, and historians believe that people were probably using them even earlier than that.
FWIW, apparently in the books Jamie didn't do that with Cersei in the sept. It does rather go against his character arc, no? Also, you still have Robb as your backdrop. You need to choose a new champion! LOL
People were rushing his character arc. They were liking him too much. That’s why they had to make that scene because the point was to try and get people to hate Jamie a little bit again.
Yes he did. Ned sent a letter via a personal messenger telling Stannis that none of Cereci's children were Robert's. After Robert's death Stannis sends out ravens to all the houses letting them all know about Jamie & Cereci.
Lol... THAT was a "condom". They used "animal intestine" for "protection" in the "old days". (If I remember my history correctly. 🤪) They washed the "condom" between customers...; and as you can imagine...; they "broke alot"..., 😝; resulting in pregnancy and diseases. Not very hygienic..., but they tried. 😂
HEAR YE HEAR YE, Seriously every time i come home from a night of boozing or ...whaever misschief, I get treated with these LEGENDARY reactions! If you ever get around to it, get into the books and not even the books find a fun channel thatb narrates the books and enjoy the story that way!!!
Tywin knows who killed Joffrey, he knows why, he doesn't care other than furthering the family name and Joffrey was spoiling the family name and legacy at breakneck speed. Tywin knows the game better than but a handful of characters and Joffrey's death can still be used for his own gain; "I'll give it to my father, he never fails to take advantage of a family tragedy" ~ Tyrion
34:06 someone PLEASE send this to Emilia Clarke. The amount of harassment and degradation she faced over getting older (as every person does, and she does it so gracefully) is insane
Yes, that was in fact a condom being washed out and made ready for the next guy. Usually made of intestine from sheep or pig, they were durable and could be boiled and "sterilized" according to the healthcare standards of the time.
In addition to being angry that he "left her," when Cersei told Jaime "It's too late" and "You took too long," she was probably referring to menopause or technically peri-menopause. Qyburn was helping her manage her symptoms. The more you know about the symptoms, the more it all makes sense, and as a 50-year-old woman, trust me, I know allllllll about it lol.
No, the symptoms were pregnancy. She was pregnant with Lancel's baby and he gave her something to abort it. Being too late was just because she's selfish and only considers what's difficult for her and not what anyone else has been through.
remember this father and his lil daugther! and about the condom we have proof of there existance 6000 years ago, those are around for a long time but centuries ago you had to go to a butcher to have some. ....sausage experiences..... maybe it was better than he linen condom the "tiny socks" because it was a thing too.
