Jack and I want to thank everyone for their anniversary wishes. We could not have had a better celebration and Neil's video will always be my favorite. The very best part is the family we made and being lucky enough to have them close by to see often and be involved in what the grandkids are doing. We are indeed "rich"
Neil, I am 45yo man who is now a hot mess after this video. This is the most beautiful thing I've seen in a long time. Your parents are so cute and your family is absolutely amazing. Happy Anniversary to your Parents! 😊
Neil, I think you missed your calling. You should have been a Hollywood film writer. You tell your stories so well. Although I assumed the owner was going to be a close relative, since most all of your videos include some relative of yours. It is a wonderful story and a great video. I wish your parents many more years of happiness and love.
I did not think I would ever tear-up from one of your videos. Thank you for sharing your family(and their Corvette history) with us. Now..I'm going to call my parents and tell them thank you and how much I love them.
Man what a treat Niel!!! This trip down memory lane was so great. I’m sure very meaningful and memorable to your parents. We can definitely see why you turned out the way that you have!!!!! Take care my friend! And please tell your folks happy anniversary
Beautiful family. I tell people all the time if you were born to good parents you hit the lottery. And you sir the lottery. Happy 50th Anniversary to your parents!
What a story, so glad to have watched this video, very heartwarming, true family values, a good example of what life is all about.......and what this world needs more of.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Well thanks. You have just set a bar that no mortal man can reach. 😂. Absolutely inspiring video and one all young people should watch. Have agreat day. Congrats on 50 years. That is not something you hear alot these days. Blessed for sure.
I finally stopped weeping long enough to post my thoughts on this one Neil. First of all, to Mary and Jack, Happy 50th to you! You two have reached a milestone very few have had the privilege of experiencing together. Your love for one another is reflected in your family. Insomuch as the car, those were the days when you could fix a vehicle with a crescent wrench and a blade screwdriver! Dad has a perfect tool kit in that box. Today, you have to be an Aerospace Engineer or an Agronomist to even figure out where to add oil. (Slid in the Agronomy mention for love to the creator). Excellent touch adding surf tunes on the joy ride there brother. Only thing missing was Kara in the passenger seat with hot pants and a halter top! The carriage ride was a lovely touch and I gotta say, you clean up really well there son! All in all, quite the fitting tribute to your mom and dad and really enjoyed being afforded the privilege of you sharing it with us. As always, love home and kiss the girls for me my brother.
Thanks so much bud. I got a kick out of that agronomist nod! However I'm not smart enough to work on the newer cars either! Thanks for tuning in again to check it out. We had a great time.
Reminds me of my grandparents’ 50th. Always wonderful to see such a big family able to celebrate such a milestone together, congratulations to your parents!
That is the coolest video and story. I’m so glad to know your parents. What a wonderful example they are. I remember in high school admiring your moms corvette. The story is priceless 😊
Those Carter AFB carbs I think run smoother than the Quadrajet that came later. The spread bore would dump 2x the amout of fuel in the back of the runners on WOT. If you didn't have enough cam to handle that it would bog. Hence the nickname Quadrabog. The first one was on a 396, and you could hear the baaawa sound on WOT. Of course GM started putting them on everything 4BL to the point that Carter even made them for GM along with Rochester. I worked for Chevy for 20 years in the 70-80's. Your Mom's Vette is really nice, and Mom and Dad are a sweet couple. Enjoy both as long as you can.
As a young man I decided my carb needed rebuilding (even though the car was running fine). Take it apart on the kitchen table and I forgot how to put it back together! Fortunately my wife was watching and she reassembled it.
You know… I always thought Chevy made a bone headed decision when they decided to only make that split window for one year. But, in retrospect, they created an iconic legacy that lives on in the hearts of many. Being one who can share that legacy is a gift you are fortunate to share. Especially so in light of the family that grew up around the bold decision your dad made 50 years ago. A car is just a car… but one that is given in love and cherished for half a century is so much more than all the rest. It’s a symbol of all that’s worth toiling for in nurturing and enjoying the good things in life. Being an iconic car…. Is just icing on the cake! My wife’s first car was a ‘71 Monte Carlo. I met her in a Supermarket parking lot through the window of that car. Three years later I convinced her that we needed to trade it in for one that was more fuel efficient and had four doors… because our family was expanding from three to four. She agreed but carried a longing in her heart for that car. It took me 27 years to realize just how bad my judgement had been. On our 30th anniversary, I surprised her with a spitting image of her Monte. She was ecstatic. I think that it was the most excited I’d seen her since the births of our daughters. For the next five years, she drove it everywhere. It turned heads in parades and car shows. But, alas… she decided that she wanted to sell it. Her love for the car was fulfilled. She entered it into a car show and put up a ‘For Sale’ sign. Of the three offers, she accepted the lowest price… because the buyer specialized in factory original restoration. Now, we get to see the car every year in our Maple Leaf Parade… totally restored and driven with pride by a younger family that loves it as much as she did! So yeah, a car is just a car… but when one molds itself into a family story it becomes ‘The Family Car’. And, in my opinion, that’s the stuff that legends are made of! I’m so happy that your mom can still live and drive her dream… and congratulate your dad for being so bold all those 50 years ago. She got the car but he got the babe and the legacy. Congratulations to all three of them for hitting this milestone together!
Thanks Dave. I really enjoyed your story of getting your wife her favorite car back. I kicked around the idea of trying to find a 63 Impalla SS to give to Jack for our 50th. That was HIS first car and thought it was fitting, but what I found that was looking and driving good was WAY above an amount I'd spend without his knowledge. Over the yrs we had a 70 & 73 Monte Carlo among those I'd wished we kept too.
@@marykoch5168 Thanks There is just something about looking down that 6foot long hood that makes you love driving the highway! Our 49th is coming up November 1st… that gives me a year to come up with a plan! Happy anniversary to you two.
As always, so well put Dave. I love hearing different car stories from folks that have a special connection with a machine that meant so much to them. How wonderful that her Monte Carlo went to someone local and you can still enjoy it at least once a year. Sometimes that's just enough to keep those memories burning bright. I was very thankful that we got Mom's car back on the road in time for their milestone celebration and I'm very thankful for the folks that are enjoying watching along with us. Thanks as always and have a great week!
Very COOL. ME AND THE WIFE got Married in August of 1971. Got home from 19 months in Vietnam in June 1971. Family is ALL THINGS OF LIFE. No mater how old you get, FAMILY is ALL. To your parents, LIVE LONG AND PROPER.
A little late getting in here, but just wanted to tell you what a wonderful story you put together! Working with your dad fixing up that beautiful Vette and going out with them for their 50th. You had this 71 year old all teared up! Love your show and thanks for all your hard work to share it with us!
Happy 50th Anniversary! It's great that they have held onto that car for so long. Not many families can share a story like that. In 1970 my father-in-law bought a used, 1968 Mustang and drove it for years. My wife was 4 when he bought it and it became her first car when she got her license at 16. Eventually it was parked in the garage and almost forgotten about. In 2018 we had a lot of mechanical work done to it to make it drive-able and reliable, just in time to celebrate its 50th birthday. That car was dragged from Oregon to California and eventually to Kentucky after I retired from the military. It had such an impact on us over the years that we decided to buy a 2018 Mustang GT just so they would be 50 years apart. It spent most of COVID in a shop getting taken all the way back to bare metal and completely rebuilt, with a few modern conveniences added. Now, she's a 56 year old daily driver that we are so glad it has such a story to tell after being in the family for so long.
THIS is what Family is supposed to be. Neil is a good Man, because of how you raised him. Congratulations on 50 Years! That's a long time & so many memories. Your Family is Loved by so many!
This channel is about a lot of different things but the most important thing it's about is family. Love this channel it reminds me of where my priorities should be.
This is why we always run 4150 Holley carbs and ethanol free gas in anything with a carb. Beautiful story, family and Vette! 🇺🇸 Happy 50th anniversary!
This brought back memories of my dad yelling at me to hold the flashlight steady! 😂 My babies are still little but I can’t wait to pass down the tradition ❤
Happy 50th Anniversary Grandma and Grandpa! Wonderful true story Neil! Hopefully I’m around long enough….and RU-vid is still around to see your girl’s driving that beauty to one of their “special occasions in life!!”. Great job. EVERYONE Thumbs up!! 👍👍👍👍
Well done Neil! Congratulations to Jack and Mary! 50-years is an amazing accomplishment. But the greater gift is the foundation you created for your family.
What a BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY. The Corvette was my click bait and I love them but to see how GOD has blessed your family is PRICELESS. Thank Y’ALL for sharing it with us.
This video is a prime example of why I love this channel. I thought I was tuning in for a basic Corvette repair video but was treated to a beautiful story and a great video. Congrats to your parents on 50years.
Man that 60's Harvest Gold was sure popular. And the Red is still Beautiful. Loved the story of it all. Mom was really crushed with the coach ride. Nice work documenting the 50th!
You always need a hammer in those tools boxes for a persuader haha! These are the memories that you just love to have on film. I love how your Dad just had to touch the carriage fender just to see what its made of. Always the tinkerer. That’s the first time I’ve seen you without a hat!
Happy anniversary to an amazing couple. Love watching this channel just seeing there are still good ppl in this crazy world. Glad the car stuck around for the journey also and gives u many more years to enjoy it together god bless
Neil, That was Awesome... I enjoyed watching your repairs. Then the entire back story is priceless!!! What a wonderful family you have. Very touching story. HAPPY 50TH ANNIVERSARY !!! 😂
I always enjoy watching your videos, but this one was special. Terrific story of a terrific family. Congratulations and Happy Anniversary to your parents.
What a nice tribute to your mom and dad. I loved the story behind Corvette (btw I'm a Corvette enthusiast & owner myself). May your memories live on forever!
All of your videos are great to watch but this one was amazing! As the owner of a 61 Corvette myself I appreciated seeing you working on the car. Yours has a great backstory. Mine was owned by my Aunt Carol and Uncle Lige and after 32 years in storage I bought it from them and Lige and I spent 3 years doing a frame off restoration and rebuilding the motor. Although his Parkinson’s prevented him from ever driving the car again he and I were able to do a little “hotrodding” before he passed. He was a lot like your dad. Hard worker, could do anything and always had a positive attitude! Great men to be around. Thank you for creating and sharing the story of the $2400 memory maker!!
What a great story. Congratulations to your parents on their very special anniversary! Great memories for the entire family. Definitely you have to keep this beautiful old girl in the family for future generations of the Koch family.
Thanks for sharing your so much of your personal life with everyone. Happy anniversary to them. They definitely built a strong foundation for you and your family to build on. Love and happiness to you all.
I have to say I think this is the best video you have ever posted. At least the most heartfelt one. My wife and I celebrated our 50th 2 years ago. I have to add we didn’t do it with a 1963 split window corvette. 😊. Happy anniversary to your parents and thanks for sharing this special celebration. Stay safe
What a nice story of the Corvette. Congratulations to your parents on their 50th anniversary. The ironic thing is, we are from Texas but we were very involved in the RV industry and have been to Elkhart and Goshen many times since 2007. We have taken several rides from Goshen, where our National rallies were held. We, along witth friends, have taken long rides through the Amish country and have been near to your place. Enjoying your Facebook page.
Your "click" on the lugnut was golden. I'm pretty sure that anybody that has done any wrenching on anything has, at one time or another, brought out the verbal torque wrench. I commented too early, this is a very heartwarming and touching story. Thankyou for sharing. Happy Anniversary from someone you'll probably never meet, but has a tremendous amount of respect for you, your son, and all the goodness he shares with everybody. Thankyou doesn't say enough, but it's all I've got here.
What a great story behind a fantastic car. Hard to believe that back in the day some 1963 owners paid to have that center bar removed to make it look like the newer models. I know I’m late for 50th or early for 51 years. Congratulations. What a wedding present!
I'm an old subscriber back when you first began the pond, just wanted to say you're Dad is awesome ❤ 🙏 so keep celebrating all the knowledge that you can learn from the wise ones 😊
Thank you for continuously inviting all of us into your family’s life and sharing those stories. My favorite moment was most definitely the 90s family pose at the car. Happy 50th Anniversary Jack & Mary! Neil, on a technical front you did an absolutely incredible job of telling this story and laying it out, not only from a visual perspective but with the narrative as well. The quality of your videos is amazing, and I truly look forward to them every week.
1963 split window corvette is definitely my favorite corvette and top three all time car designs. They are just so beautiful from so many different angles.
This is my favourite year Vette. They are so iconic. For anyone 50+, this car was always a head turner and I remember drooling over them when I was a teenager. Great video once again and so special to see you work alongside your dad.
