I am so glad my mom was cool enough to take me to Heart back in '86- yeah I was only 6 years old at the time but I knew good music when I heard it. They blew the roof off the place. My ears were ringing for days lol.

Ann Wilson..... most badass female singer in history. Even in her 60's she could still blow the doors off any music hall and crush vocalists 40 years younger.

It's a clever play on words when she says that until now she's always gotten by on her own she means that she's made her own way in life but now she wants to be with him alone as in private but also that she feels alone and wants to be with him.

Back in 1981 I was a guitar player living in LA. I was in many bands and met the Wilson sisters at the Whiskey bar. We were playing with Dokken that night and we got to meet them. They were pretty wasted as were most of us back then. I remember that they were good looking and they said something to me but I can`t remember because I was wasted and stoned on weed. I also saw OZZY but he was passed out on the floor so I never actually met him. Dokken was just a bar band then. It was nuts out there. Nobody had any idea what was going on. It was just a party every night and we were doing cocaine to stay awake to practice and score more drugs. I stayed awake for days back then. Life was chase girls, play music and get stoned. That was the sunset strip. God we had fun! It is all a blurr but it was so fun. I don`t remember much of the 80`s except for the shows and the girls and the drugs. Life was wild back then!

Haven’t read all the other comments but the lyric means, she’s been independent and single and it never bothered her until she met him and it’s chilling. She wants to get him alone, be with him, wants to have him for her.

You have mt favorite reaction so far, and I watch these videos daily! So the lyrics ... She's saying she thought she was OK (happy) being on her own (no boyfriend) UNTIL she met HIM. But she hasn't been able to get him ALONE to confess her feelings.

Heart is my all- time favorite band. I was a teenager when they first became known, and I was fortunate to see their concert. Unlike many bands, they sounded better live than on their recordings.

You may have thought you saw a woman playing a guitar. What you actually witnessed is a master guitarist just rocking out and having fun. There are still a lot of people that don't give enough credit for her talent. Ann and Nancy Wilson are Canadian and started their career in Vancouver Canada but due to hardships joined Americans to create the bad Heart in the the USA where their careers took off

You may have noticed that they never show the whole body of Ann Wilson. She has a weight problem and back then they thought it would interfere with records sales if we saw her getting fat. Now she is in her 60's, still sings excellent and powerful and she is big, but no one cares about that, only her voice.

Great Heart reaction. I admit, these later Heart years weren't as good as the early Heart. (In fact, Ann Wilson, the singer, has also mentioned that they felt that the band had sold out to the corporate music world during this time period.) Nevertheless, there is no such things as a bad Heart band. When I was growing up, all my friends were in love with Ann Wilson. Me - I was always a Nancy Wilson fan. Her work on the acoustic guitar is outstanding.
