⛑️ Check out this video about another tourist activity that went wrong ⛑️ • FATAL ERROR: Hang Glid...
Horizontal Falls is an amazing natural wonder where water rushes through two narrow gorges. High speed tourist boats travel through the falls for an exhilarating ride. But! These are also croc and box jellyfish(deadliest jellyfish) infested waters. And last year a boat carrying 26 tourists hit a rock wall and capsized. Here’s their story.
Be respectful in the comments otherwise your comments will promptly end up in the swirling croc and jellyfish infested waters of Horizontal Falls!

Excellent coverage. I live in WA and it's pretty clear to me that this was covered up. The initial reporting was very vague but I quickly worked out it was an impact against the rock wall. But since then there has been nothing. zip. No footage from the passengers, nothing. look at how many passengers have cameras going in the other footage, but no personal footage POV either from the event, or the rescue, or the triage, or the evacuation, has come on the internet / social media from that event since then. They've all been paid off and signed non-disclosures I reckon.
@adventuresgonewrong
@adventuresgonewrong Год назад
That would explain the difficulty in finding ANYTHING about this from the passengers! Even the court case, I couldn’t find much on that either. Definitely suspicious.

@@adventuresgonewrong and the way it fell out of the news cycle was unnatural. No follow ups on the victims. Nothing that I've seen anyway.

I think you're reading too much into it mate... it dropped out of the news cycle quickly because it happened in a very remote area & there was no sensationalism for the non-ABC media to drum up. Fortunately no-one was gruesomely injured, and the rescue was efficient & effective... few news crews would consider a follow-up worth their while these days. As for the lack of footage, given the passengers were aged 40 & over I doubt they were concerned about getting their 15 seconds of fame on social media as they were recovering in hospital. There are far more mundane reasons for wby post-accident info isn't available online... no grand conspiracies needed!

I live on the Rogue River in southern Oregon. We have jet boat tours; I've been on one (it was amazing, and completely safe), and the lack of detail and video of this incident struck me as odd, too. About 20% of the passengers had recording devices, including at least two head-mounted GoPro type setups. The lack of such from this incident is indeed suspect to me.

One of these days I'll get back over to the west but I don't think I'll be buying a ticket to see the falls. We did the Horizontal falls as a family when we did a lap around Australia with caravan in 2007. Stayed on a houseboat overnight near the falls after being flown in on an old but rugged De Havilland Beaver float plane. The boat we used to go through the falls was a jet boat (similar to what they use in New Zealand at the Shotover river), but we did also see the larger boats featured here doing the falls too. This trip was certainly the most expensive thing we did when travelling around Australia but was worth every single penny.

I am wondering how the passengers are secured into the jet boat. You'd think that if they were seat belted in (or restrained somehow), they would not be flying around, whacking into other passengers, etc. in the event of an accident. Of course, if the boat cap-sized, being belted in might not be a good idea. I wouldn't mind flying over the falls, but don't need the excitement of jet boating through it.

Each box jellyfish carries enough venom to kill more than 60 humans. A single sting to a human will cause necrosis of the skin, excruciating pain and, if the dose of venom is large enough, cardiac arrest and death within minutes. The crocodiles would be enough but those box jellyfish are a reason I would not swim In Australia or any other country that has them. Kudos to the doctors that flew in to help. The Abriginal Corporation are quoted (in October 2023) as saying, ""It is a quiet, calm place but it can be dangerous...you don't rush through it, we've seen how country responds when people don't respect its power...We ask visitors to be quiet at Garaan-ngaddim, [and] respect our cultural obligations to care for country and culture and keep you safe." So they are considering phasing out jetting throught the falls but not cruising around them. Seems reasonable to me.

So, it basically turns on it's side. Like the Strid? The seemingly small stream that has 100% lethality rate for those who fall in, whose bottom has never been successfully measured. I'll pass.

it's really just waiting for something to go wrong. People who participate do so at their own risk. At least that's how I would sell it. and a 4 point belt would be better I think. then they cannot fly out of the chair. class of emergency services and company that they could provide good help as quickly as possible. would I ever do it? no, not in 975$ years. too expensive. and don't see the point in it.

No matter what, or where: ADVENTURE = RESEARCH ! Local laws, you might get away with breaking. The Laws of nature ? Not so much.

And it's not like they are all rubbing their hands waiting for people to fall into their mouths. Their diet consists of larger sea birds, dugongs, sea snakes, sea turtles and bony fish, even small sharks. Humans are not part of a food chain.

Funny how often I first hear about incidents in my own country from an overseas content creator! Always glad to hear the Flying Doctor Service getting some well-deserved recognition... they do an amazing job. 💜 I've seen a lot of this country but haven't made it to the Top End yet, and I've paid more than $1k for unique experiences around the world... so I'd definitely consider a Horizontal Falls trip when I make it to the Kimberley. I don't think people who baulk at the price appreciate just how remote this location is, or how expensive it is to fuel & maintain sea planes and jet boats when the nearest major city is several days drive away! It's pricey, for sure, but when you think about the logistics I can see why. Hope you make it down our way at some point, it's certainly a beautiful & unique part of the world! 🦘

Good point about the price being related to the remoteness. I hope to get there one day!

Not the best waterfall, if your 70 maybe in future stay at home and get a copy of Skyrim, waterfalls are much better and safer.

you shouldn’t be doing 5h1t like this when you are 70 years old. This is too old for a dangerous trip like this.
