Story is called "Venusian Colonist"

This was pretty cool until the author had an unfortunate brain fart when doing the math. If it costs other civilizations 10 times as much to build drives, then these dudes can sell them at 8-9 times the production cost and make an absolute killing. If it only costs 3 times as much, then to outcompete others the hellworld guys have to sell at no more than like 2.5 times the production cost. So the numbers in the text need to be reversed. Have the other aliens lie that it only costs 3-4 times as much for them, so the silicon dudes sell at a low price, then humans reveal that it actually costs 10 times as much, so now the dudes can vastly increase the price without losing customers. Still pretty unbelievable that such a massive lie could be maintained for 1400 years, but at least the math works out. Also, it's really bad to have FTL-ing close to the planet destroy the planet. There's no way a seemingly peaceful coexistence of numerous civilizations from numerous sentient species can exist in such a universe. Any time an even slightly cantankerous species developed FTL, it would constantly resolve disputes by sending FTL drone ships to destroy the colonies and homeworlds of its enemies. It would be a "Dark Forest" type story. Also, pretty immersion-breaking to use dollars as a currency.

These stories have been fantastic but the comical levels of hysterical meltdowns the narrative ai experiences at any given time is the perfect counter balance to the seriousness of the plot.

The cheaper it is to make something yourself, the less you will be willing to pay others for it. Especially since buying technology means that you won't progress yourself. Also, how did the dragons perform repairs on that first human ship if they did not have the environmental suits yet?

Again, these have potential, but sometimes seem like they're written by a 16 year old StarCraft geek. Very surface-y. Small things, like how all the different races are almost exactly like us but with different bodies same philosophies and ethical bases, even though that's highly unlikely. And humanity is always depicted as completely united, which it never is. At any point parts of humanity would be violently opposed to interoperation with a different species.
