Ahhhh noooo! Cassandra! I think you do in fact know what you’re talking about, but the way you worded this is perhaps going to perpetuate a long running myth. I’ve been working in the fitness industry as a personal trainer since 1999. Muscle does not turn into fat, or get replaced with fat, if you stop working out. Your muscle mass will decline, and you may also gain fat. But muscle itself doesn’t turn into fat, and isn’t replace by fat just because you’ve stopped working out. Your composition will change, but the two tissues are not dependent on the other. You can gain fat as a bodybuilder too. I hope I’m making sense. Muscle also doesn’t weigh more that fat. A pound is a pound is a pound. Muscle is denser than fat and takes up a smaller space (volume) for the same weight as fat. Love you!!!
When I heard that I went “wait, what?” Because muscle, to my understanding, can’t just be lost. Not for lack of use at least. It can atrophy, but you don’t just loose tissue.
She might not word it the right way but she does have a point. Atrophying the facial muscles with Botox or any other neurotoxin isn’t rejuvenating, it’s in fact aging them faster.
Well… in the context of comparing muscle and fat, the statement “muscle is heavier than fat” sort of always refer to a specific volume or mass of each substance. I never thought anyone questioned that as it’s just daily speech 😂
Your skin will still breakdown and wrinkle, it just won’t do it in the same way it would have if you hadn’t used Botox. Trust me, in 10 years you’ll see.
Botox will do that temporarily, but you are weakening your facial muscles, and then that leads to sagging later on. Plus, people can tell you need to go back for more Botox because it wears off. It’s a choice. Personally, I do microneedling. I only have to go in once every few years and it doesn’t ever “wear off”, plus my facial muscles stay strong I’m not worried about sagging.
Hi sweetie, I'm almost 65 and barely have any wrinkles even though I've never used anything to prevent wrinkles. I only have been using products against pimples and ulcers for years, because they have bothered me a lot since I was young. But that's all. If also I have a mild form of vitiligo, so I always stay out of the sun, as much as possible or I turn into a Dalmatian. I have also never smoked (because that is guaranteed to give wrinkles to the mouth!!) because I also have asthma and drink alcohol in moderation (max. twice a year: one glass of red wine or a small drink of Amaretto). People think I'm younger then my age, and that's good for your self-confidence HAHA. I have always believed that your age are just numbers and that it is more important how old or young you feel!! I will never fight against growing older, never have and I think that also helps to keep you young. That and being around young people, stay openminded. Trying to stay positive helps too ;-) BTW: Dear people, there are so many worse problems than a few wrinkles, f.i.: if your health start to fail you when you are only 11 years old, have to wait for a diagnosis until you are 18 and then learn that you will have to learn to live with 24/7 often hellish pains, like my son who is almost 30!! Both he and I live with a muscle-connective tissue disease (and other diseases). He does not have a bright future, like he was dreaming of, he can go out to work, can not live alone, will not find a relationship, cause who wants to live with a chronical ill person that has almost no income??? So think of that and of the inside (your character) instead of only thinking about the outside!!!!!! Cassandr and all sweeties, stay strong, stay safe and healthy!!! Love from Pinkie
Well, if you also eat excessively on top of being physically inactive, the spaces left by the atrophied muscles plus more of your internal & external environment get filled in by subcutaneous & visceral fat.
I think an exception to that is if your wrinkles are newer and not as well etched in. Without repeating the motion that created it, you can see lessening of the wrinkle.
For sure! I gor botox when my wrinkles weren't deep and they definitely disappeared! Obviously they came back after the botox wore off and i went back to using my muscles to frown
I got Botox for newer wrinkles as well as some very deep set expression lines I’ve had since my teen years. After 2 years, my there’s no static wrinkles on my face at all except extremely faint leftovers of the expression lines that are imperceptible more then 3 inches from the forehead. The reality is that it works, that’s ultimately why it’s so popular. It’s an expensive choice though so always weigh the benefits vs the cost.
Yeah definitely, I had a few forehead lines from emoting (surprise lines) and after a couple months of having Botox they were gone. I haven’t had Botox in over a year and they’re still not back because it’s trained my face not to over emote. I’ve seen friends with deep set frown lines completely go after a few months of Botox, as the skin stops creasing the collagen can rebuild underneath
@@AidanOtfMcCleanI totally can relate.yes even after years you face has been used to not having so many..". expressions with surprise".or you do it with your eyeees❤.so it keeps working for some pple, without doing it(cause let's say we are broke lol)
Hello! Botox user and RN who is in the process of getting injectables certified. Botox does get rid of some static wrinkles. I had forehead wrinkles that developed in my mid-20s from always scrunching it up when concentrating. These wrinkles existed even when my face was relaxed. So, first of all, Botox takes up to 2 weeks to set in. As far as my static wrinkles, they are gone now. I will say that they did not disappear with the first round of Botox. I get it done every 3-4 months (have gone up to 6 months with no reappearance of these wrinkles). By my 3rd round (so at the 6/7 month point) those static forehead wrinkles were gone. The folding paper analogy is one we use, but not in quite the same way as you used it. Unlike paper, cells in the stratum basale (the deepest epidermal layer) are living and renewing. Our stratum corneum (as I'm sure you know, but the outermost of our 5 epidermal layers sheds/is replaced every 30 days). Why did it take 6/7 months for my static wrinkles to disappear? Like the paper folding analogy, constant folding has created a much deeper fold (folding a piece of paper in the same spot once vs 100x) that extends beyond the stratum corneum into the other epidermal layers. Depending on how deep the wrinkles are, it can take 3 months to 18 months to see softening and eventual disappearance of these static wrinkles. There are cases where Botox will not get rid of static wrinkles.....this would be someone who has extremely deep wrinkles and is more mature in age. The more years you've "folded", the harder it is soften. So, of course, Botox works to disappear the static wrinkles quicker and more effectively in the 20's to early 40's. Late forties up through early 60's will still see a softening of those static lines, but it will usually take longer than on a younger patient. Of course, this varies by person as some people naturally have deeper wrinkles than others and some of those you can't fully come back from. However; most people starting Botox for the first time are in their 20's/early-mid 40's and their static wrinkles will soften out to the point of mostly disappearing with Botox or comparable wrinkle relaxers.
I did not get Botox until I was 43; Lord knows why I waited that long but I did. I had one wrinkle down the centre of my forehead (not the “11” in my case it’s just a “1”) that got prominent enough to show up in photos at age 33. My ex was the first to point it out to me, and ever since it was the only thing I saw. Son of a %#$ Lol. Anyway, so This wrinkle was the bane of my existence. Listen: Botox makes it disappear! So far I’ve only gotten Botox once a year (although that’s changing this year to two because I make more money now hehe) and I can tell you as a VERY vain woman, my wrinkle doesn’t start showing up again until about month 7 after Botox, but even now, almost 10 months since my last treatment, age 45 going on bloody 46 because the clock don’t stop for nobody, my wrinkle is STILL not as prominent as it was by age 38 (the year I cut bangs). I have taken many selfies in all different lights to prove this to myself. I grew my bangs out! I feel so much prettier without them, and that horrible wrinkle! People told me again and again Botox would not cure the wrinkle, only filler would. And then once the wrinkle gloriously ironed out a few weeks after I got my first Botox, people said it would only stay gone 3-4 months. Wrong and wrong again. If you have a wrinkle like mine, please get Botox, it is very much needed, worth the money. 💯
I view my wrinkles as reminders of where I've been and what I've done and that I'm still alive and aging. They aren't my favorite facial features but they are an integral part of who I am.
gosh Cassandra you've come so far. I remember back in the day when you first started your channel DiamondsAndHeels14, sitting in front of your parent's sofa & telling us about your life and makeup.. you taught me how to "shape my lips" with a qtip after foundation & I still do that til this day! people weren't always nice but you really hung in there and now you have over 2 mil subbies, so proud of you 💖
It definitely got rid of a perma-crease wrinkle on the top of my forehead I had from high stress in my late teens to early 20s. Had botox at 25 and it was like popping the dent out of a car hood. Haven't had botox since 27 and am 34 now with that same area having a slight crease once again so I think I will try it once more. I do know though that my skin a decade later will be different for results in some ways but for me, having it done twice helped so much. I don't believe you should get it done numerous times and certainly if you don't even need it. Too many young folk over doing things now. Random thing but Castor Oil (Hexane Free) is really lovely for skin texture!! Anyone reading this, please look into it! Amazing skin care.
Thanks for the castor oil tip. Slugging with vaseline at night might help with the creases. I am older tha you and that is what had helped me with glabella creasing.
@@HoneyLee-r3q thank you! I will try vaseline on some spots :) For the castor oil too, I heard that the Jamaican Black Seed is even stronger. Havent gotten my hands on that yet but soon. Make it organic and hexane free in glass bottle and it will be amazing, i promise you! You can also look into castor oil warm compresses to make at home for detoxing liver.
It causes muscle atrophy. Atrophy causes tissue to hang. Why it’s addictive. It’s a bandage to more issues in the long haul. Will need fat transfer or lifting surgically. I’ve personally only done it 5 times since it’s been out. Reserved for reunions etc. lol. Sure it’s awesome looking. But what a huge cost every 4 months!
Just a general FYI and reminder: the term *yps/*yp... starting with a letter G is indeed a slur and offensive to many in the Roma community. Also, if botox doesnt help wrinkles, why can we tell when botox for migraines and tmj is worn off based on the the fact that i have wrinkles on my forehead again? Kinda confusing
I got Botox between my eyebrows for the first time 2 weeks ago at 47. I’ve had creases since I was 11. So I knew that Botox wasn’t going to take those creases away. I just wanted to stop the scowl expression on my face and give me a chance to work on those creases with something like a TCA cross and maybe a CO2 laser.
@@Iloveyoursmiletbh facelifts are the best solution for most of this stuff people just don’t want to do it for obvious reasons. Mild wrinkles don’t actually age you that much. It’s more of the way your tissues sit and the size of your lower face compared to the top. That’s why all these early 30s actresses are looking younger
The best part of your reaction videos is educating with so much info. Analyzing the produtcs these people put on their faces, If it works and worth the money ❤❤
Hmm. I started getting Botox last year and it definitely helped get rid of most of my static forehead wrinkles and my 11s. I agree that prevention is better, but from my own experience it did significantly smooth out the static wrinkles I had at 38 years old when I first did it.
I have to have an occipital nerve block every 2 months for migraines. 8 injections into my head. I can’t imagine doing it for cosmetic reasons, mind you I’m sure they don’t use anywhere near the volume with Botox as opposed to a local. It hurts like heck, I look like I have horns growing for a day or 2 but it helps
So the only other alternative would be a chemical peel, but they don’t work till like lift brows that are sagging or anything like that it’s just for wrinkles. That’s why people use Botox because it does give you a little bit of a lift, but I had heard that because your muscles are paralyzed essentially that they become more relaxed? I don’t know.
I'm 44 and thanks to this channel and James Welsh I dialed in on what MY skin needs. As long as I don't skip a " ritual " no wrinkles. My bff kept poking my face asking me if I got botox. No, no I'm not suggesting that there is a miracle serum, but dehydrated skin tends to look more wrinkled than it actually is. Yes I did takey BFF to Ulta 😂😂
As someone who does get a little bit of botox preventatively (28y/o) and for TMJ issues, I am not afraid to tell anyone who asks about my skin- celebs who "lie" about their non-invasive treatments annoy me.
@@lmmorgan01 Been getting it for about 3 years, approx every 6 months but I've been trying to space it out further to see if symptoms are getting better. Tension and pain reduce significantly, bulkiness in the lower face also reduces. It's not a cure and doesn't 100% fix anything since it's a bandaid. But makes my quality of life better imo!
@@lmmorgan01 I've been doing this for about 3 years. It relaxes my jaw tension and reduces pain significantly. I supplement this with stretches, exercises, and stress relief which also help with the same symptoms. I've been trying to get botox less frequently to check my own progress.
I was thinking of the public's obsession with JLo. I guess people are happy now that she's going through stress and it's showing on her face (and body, as it seems she's lost weight). Could you do a vid on how stressors affect us? Crying, lack of sleep, drinking, too much salt, sudden weight loss, worrying, being overwhelmed all seem to age us overnught. It would be good to acknowledge the physiological effects of stress/stressful relationships on how we appear to age.
Thank you! I'd love to hear more about what the after effects are if you stop getting Botox. You touched on this, but I'd like to understand more about whether things can actually get worse if you stop using it.
Things wont get worse, if anything, your wrinkles may look better, less pronounced. The muscle wont be all strong as it was when your first started using botox since the usage of said muscle decreased while the botox was in effect causing it to atrophy.
I knew Botox was just for wrinkle prevention and that was why I used to get it. Now I concentrate on devices and serums for prevention. Can't afford the additional expense of Botox.
Topical neuromodulators work with consistent use. I've been on snoxin for a couple years now and my forehead muscles are definitely weaker than before use. I can barley move my corrugator muscles so my 11 lines are mostly gone
I've been using Botox since I was 35, am 54 and I never developed wrinkles in my forehead or crow's feet, so Botox prevented wrinkling. I don't have sagging either. I didn't get Botox after wrinkles had formed. Maybe that is difference. I just know my forehead and eyes are smooth and I don't get headaches much anymore.
Bravo! finally someone who talk clear about this! Thank you so much Cassandra! You're always amazing not like all those doctor(ly) and co, who suggest botox after the 25 30y.o. They all deserve warning about this topic. they all sells lie, because it fat their wallets!
It semi-paralyzes targeted muscles. This can reduce the appearance of certain wrinkles because the underlying muscle tissue is not flexing. But it isn't actually removing wrinkles.
I never thought Botox removed wrinkles. It’s known that it’s a preventative that prevents wrinkles. But considering that so many people confuse Botox for fillers and vise versa it wouldn’t be surprising that people wouldn’t know what Botox actually does.
Started using Botox at 40, small amounts every six months. It works well for me and my face are smoother! I have very strong facial muscle so it just makes them not move so strongly
Fantastic video with great info! However, can I suggest not using the word “gypped” since it’s tied to an ethnic slur? I figure you may not know this since you’re so well-informed otherwise.
I don't know if this is a good example of "if you don't use it, you lose it", but I think it sounds like it could be. When I was younger, I used to do a lot of lopsided smiles. Like, A LOT. (I still do because it's a habit now.) And it was always with the same side of my face. Now in my mid 30s, I realised that I have more muscles on the side of the face that I've used to smile with and it shows when I take a look at or photograph my face in a 3/4 angle. The cheekbone is more defined on the side I didn't smile with, while, on othe other side, the cheek itself is more defined. (Or rather, the muscle underneath that part of the face is.) And, to go directly for the muscles, when I do my lopsided smile with the side of the face that got almost all the exercise during my years of living, the muscle movement goes all the way up to the eye. On the other side however, it doesn't. It stops at around the cheekbone, or just under it and I feel more of a pull on the lower cheek and jaw tissue. No idea if this is going to fix it, but I've decided to try and train the "weaker" side of my face with the same method for the sake of symmetry and health of my facial muscles. So, indeed, "you don't use it, you lose it". (I don't see a difference in skin elasticity between the two sides. It's just in what's "hidden underneath" the skin for now.)
I was vegan for 6 years. Low cholesterol intake often causes anxiety, depression, hair loss, bone loss, sarcopenia, etc. I started eating high fat beef, lamb, wild salmon, eggs and raw cheese - my periods came back to a perfect cycle, my hair is SO much thicker, fasting insulin dropped to a perfect 3, testosterone went up 3 fold, chronic hives are totally gone. I didn't get much change just adding things like chicken or low fat beef. I got the benefits from fatty beef, lamb, butter, egg yolks, whole fat yogurt & quality raw cheese.
Yes bring back the reaction vids!! I feel like I’ve seen this video on your channel 4 times lol the videos are starting to get repetitive and reaction videos would be a nice change 🖤
Botox in the UK is so much cheaper, I found botox for crows feet caused wrinkles under my eyes. I have found best way ti get rid of wrinkles is microneedling and using green tea and redlight therapy. With botox once it wears off wrinkles come back, So it's botox forever.
Cassandra, i trust your opinion a lot! I just wanted to thank you for your honesty when it's easier and more profitable to lie, and i wanted to ask you if you have an idea if that high frequency wand for hair/skin works or should i save my money? (Sorry if there are any mistakes, English isn't my language)
Would you please bring back reaction videos? I learn from them so much, they are so informative, I watch them back over and over again. Also Sassy Cassie is my fav 😂 ❤ love your work
Botox changed my life. I had so much stress in my forehead. Botox stops you from creating wrinkles and the ones that started on me are gone now. When the Botox isn’t there my forehead starts tending up and they start coming back. But Botox has trained my forehead to not be as bad
I’m 67 have zero 11 lines. Zero crows feet. You must begin BEFORE the wrinkles are set in. I started @45. Glad I did. And it’s not as expensive as you said I pay $350 for 60 units eye corners and 11s. I live in Southern CA so if it’s that amount for me . . . Common sense would tell anyone with a brain if the wrinkles are already imbedded forget about it. There for keeps. You should begin no later than 50.
Not enough research has been done on botox and I’ve heard of too many bad side effects. I’m not sure that muscle atrophy would be more beneficial over stimulating cells in the long run.
I'm one of those oddballer out there who believe in accepting the traces life leaves behind, wrinkles isn't a big deal it's a natural part that comes whether we like it or not, i absolutely despise the beauty standards today and how people are expected to live up to it. practice good hygiene, take care of yourself and live!
honestly too much botox causes your facial muscles to atrophy which can cause your skin to "wilt" over that atrophied muscle. you need muscles in your face to keep your skin perky and plump!
I must be doing something right with my scincare. The other day when i had my catheter changed I had a nurse who hadn't seen me in 4 years as she had moved away. She kept asking if I've had botox and wouldn't believe me when I said no. To me I don't think I look any different but I see myself every day so perhaps im blind to any changes whereas my nurse she hasn't seen me in 4 years so easier to see a difference. Tretinoin and gentle chemical exfoliants for the win
It kinda does..I'm surprised you are saying that. I tried, lol. I think you mean DEEP wrinkles, I did it at 24 so my lines were there😢(4 on my forehead OMG and not moving),but I guess not that deep since it wasn't that late. Then... I feel it didn't come back for years(not sure as I use creams glycerin squalane etc),I did Botox wayyy later,at 27. Still got no wrinkle thanks to ..Botox I think
The best we can do to not get wrinkles is to wear sun protection in any form, like hats, clothes, gloves, sun glasses etc. Sleep, exercise, eat well, moisturise, don’t drink or smoke. You can get very far by just doing those things. Other than that, some wrinkles are charming.
It amazes me that this is apparently not common knowledge for people who get botox, but I feel like this is a very good video to explain it. (apart from maybe the muscle turning into fat sentence that someone else mentioned, but still)
I am sure this was not on purpose, but please don’t use the word “gipped.” It comes from “gypsy” and perpetuates harmful and dangerous stereotypes about the Roma, a persecuted people.
Great info. You look amazing as always. Please consider removing the word "gyp" from your vocabulary, however. It is pejorative, hurtful, and perpetuates archaic stereotypes against the Romani ethnicity.
title a little misleading? botox will prevent wrinkles IF used preventatively. that's what i heard? and, it will limit wrinkles and maybe even reduce (from what i've seen) even if they have already set in...
