The game isn’t incredibly long. Imo the best way to experience it is to find a day you can and want to dedicate to play it and finish it. The story is awesome
I will never forget playing through this in one sitting. I got so attatched and involved and thoroughly moved by the story, and in the end I fought so hard against this endless hoard with the voices telling me to give up, and I refused to give in... and then it clicked and I felt like putting down the controller for a while and taking a long walk to touch some grass. holy shit what a game. this truly shook me.
People who say games like these should be movies fundamentally misunderstand video games as an entertainment medium. Even the simple act of being able to move a character or input ANY kind of agency into a story is incredibly transformative. Being able to look around and just take a moment in the environment, creating your own pace and feeling directly connected to a world is exactly why this is a video game and not a TV show/Movie. It is honestly such a luke warm take.
You can’t move around when you find a totem/tree, too far and it cuts off, a voice inside your head gets too far. There was so much space between different parts of the game that you could of listened while taking in the scenery but the game denies you even that. Which I think was a mistake IMO. I don’t enjoy standing still in my non-stealth games.
@monkeytown1239 based on the fundamentals of interactive media. Do any amount of research on the topic, you will understand its importance and separation from non interactive media (movies in this case) as an art form. You don't need my opinion to tell you that regardless of whether you like it as an art form or not, it is indeed its own form of art. You could not simply "make it a movie" and retain everything the artist intended when they made it a game. If you are stuck just google "what is interactive media" even the wiki on it should get the basics set straight for you.
I modded my skyrim with this exact camera view angle for the main character, it makes the game harder plus is somehow in the middle of third and first person
Never played the game but watched someone play it when it first came out. I found it to be very cool, interesting, and liked it. The puzzles and fighting can be a bit boring at times as I remembering skimming through them. But overall I am excited for the second game.
Just booted up Senua's Saga today and I've already fallen in love. The first game is my favorite game of all time and I can't wait to get more engrossed in the second.
Okay, as a person with intrusive thoughts I feel seen with this game. That's rare enough that I've never actually seen this in a game before. Maybe this kind of native has been done before in a game (in other media, Legion does this pretty well), but I haven't experienced it.
Great game - and I may be the only one, but I actually liked the combat. It felt like it combined the few options you had in a way that felt very organic - and I attributed it's clunkyness to playing a person on the edge of physical and mental exhaustion. I'd love to see it with a little polish in a different setting (not one where getting good at fighting distracts from the story at hand).
I never got to finish the game, but I loved what I could play of it. The "permadeath" gimmick was something that definitely had me nervous but they pulled it off so well. Edit: Also, obligatory first
Im def one of the few who like this kind of game. Where its good interactive story (Simplest way to describe it is an interactive movie even more so if you are using stereo headphones). I always find games that truly explore mental illness or physiological horror fascinating. I've been enjoying saga so far its def a niche game series and im actually not surprised a lot people don't like either games cus it is very niche.
"hate" I think it's just the usual fanboys being gleeful. A lot of people own a PS5 and not an Xbox (or a good enough PC) so they can't play the Senua. It doesn't even matter that this game is really just "okay" and not everyone's cup of tea. Imagine a game like Death Stranding coming out for Xbox. A lot of people would be saying the same "it's a boring walking simulator". But not every single PS5-owner is like that. Most people actually... LIKE video games instead of "hate the things I can't have" or cheer if some game or another is a disappointment. Senua is a block buster and it never was going to be. I don't think even hardcore xbox fanboys had any expectations that senua II would be anything close to God of War, Forbidden West, Spider-Man, Last of Us etc. It's still just baffling how Microsoft put so much money into acquiring studios but somehow it's just whiffing on the first party front. Gamepass is so great because of all the third party deals but the first party games are ... ouch. Like my PS5 is MOSTLY collecting dust as I play mostly on PC and most of that is gamepass games. But when it comes to first party, yeah I played God of War, Forbidden West, Spider-Man, Last of Us and all their sequels and those were reallyy cool experiences. Xbox had... Halo Infinite and that was it.
@Waltersop ikr, I did this with last of us one and 2 and I love that story. Nothing more annoying than watching a cutscene and knowing I'm gonna get trapped and no control to help it. This is why new vegas is the greatest of all time
Who said it was gonna be an rpg? This is a graphic adventure, you don’t get any choice in this genre, have you ever heard of what remains of Edith Finch, Dear Easter or even Monkey island for Christ’s sake
