Btw, the new reforms look fun and truly situational; one actually might not pick the same thing with each campaign!

4:30 It does matter which province you choose to declare war on. It's 10%(iirc) cheaper to take so you want to pick the highest dev province you wish to take

4:25 the province that you choose as your war goal costs less warscore to take. Always make it the enemy capital or the highest dev province you know you're going to take. Ticking warscore shouldn't matter unless a war is more likely to be a slog.

It dóes matter which province you pick as wargoal, especially if you are going for a 100% warscore war. The wargoal is 25% cheaper to annex, so one should pick the province with the highest warscore cost for the greatest effect.

Two questions here. Just curious. Is there a strong reason to attack Novgorod first? I followed along with your play in a first run through about 40 years and found the financial situation to be kinda annoying. I restarted and attacked Great Horde immediately, they allied Uzbek. I had virtually no issues crushing their forces, and while it took a little extra time I sieged down Uzbek's capital for an extra 3-400 ducats. Combined with taking max money from great horde and provinces necessary to break the yoke and contribute to subjugate Kazan, I was able to pay off all the original burgher loans and then take a new bigger set. Following that, the downside to the above was, as you noted in general, my manpower was basically burnt. I needed about 10K to refill my standing army at 2-300/month. Given the better financial situation, I consolidated my divisions and eliminated 15 empty divisions allowing my army to be full in about 6 months and my surplus to start growing back. I then hired the Independent Army merc company and immediately attacked Novgorod. I won that war fairly trivially, and then turned to Lithuania since they weren't under PU with Poland yet (I missed if the event happened and Poland decided against or not). A little longer war but also fairly trivial to win. 13 provinces in Ruthenia (out of 20 needed) and 800 ducats, and I'm pretty sure I can conquer Livonia next in short order. I feel like I'm just in a stronger position overall financially and manpower wise at 1453, but I also think I had better RNG events, and I obviously have 15K less non-merc units. Is there something I'm missing in my reading of this situation or is it possible that knocking down Great Horde first might be a better choice in general?

Amazing run, definetaly gonna try Muscovy next. Too bad I started with Novgorod, they don't get anything new (except gov interaction) until forming Russia. I rushed their mission tree and got stuck with the final mission since ~1530. GB just snowballed somehow and English channel has 110 ducats at year 1580. I own about a quarter of China and half of Central asia and 9 traders are not enough to overturn GB. I guess one solution would be to attack GB, blockade and pullt trade from North channel to Lubeck for a month to get the edge, but I didn't want to cheese it that much. Overall the patch seems to be working fine, hope they will not nerf it to the ground like they did with Emperor update.

I would argue that for Russia tier 3 reform, Decentralized Bureaucracy would be better, because: 1. -5% Minimum Autonomy in territories will increase income and manpower from trade companies and territories or half-states 2. Reform progress is based on autonomy, so -5% minimum autonomy increases reform progress growth aswell. Trade companies still reduce reform progress due to high autonomy. 3. You conquer lot of cultures, so accepting +2 max cultures will give more manpower and taxes.

Modernization was meant to be a major mechanic to challenge players...... This guy made it feel like it almost didn't exist

Im not sure if someone else already mentioned this but the goods produced modifier from trade companies doesn’t apply to provinces in the trade company. Adding all provinces to a trade company via the trade node screen is counter productive to best part of trade companies despite being extremely convenient.

Negativity is a disease, and I see a lot of negativity with this DLC for no reason. My friend said that there are tons of DLC that give countries flavor, and this DLC sucks. But I told him that the developers were able to give even more flavor to not just one, but a handful of countries with this ONE mod, killing nine birds with one stone.

The permanent CCR from the first mission also applies to making the state cores, right? (unlike the bigger bonus from perma claims) So it seems to save way more admin with proper claim fabrication in the end
