Oh fuck yes!! Sepultura is one of the best thrash metal bands out there and don't get enough recognition for the influence they had on a lot of the metal sound and genres that came out of them. They should have been part of the big four instead of Anthrax in my opinion.

This show was a legendary moment in metal history. I was very close to the place, but with no tickets 😪😪

"Chaos A.D." "Roots" "Ratamahata" are all a must listen to, as well as "Kiowas" (live performance from "Under a pale gray sky")

They played this WAY up-tempo from the recording on the album. I think the song loses some of its power at this speed. The breakdown riffs just kinda fly by without getting a chance to breath.

When Sepultura was awesome!!! Morbid Visions,, Schizophrenia, Arise and Chaos A.D are great albums too but Beneath the Remains will always be my favorite.

The faster sections are done with the right hand, with a pick going up and down between strings, so it's actually half as rapid as it sounds

In my opinion, Megadeth, Sepultura and Metallica are the 3 best Thrash bands to come out in the 80's. Sepultura doesn't always get the credit they deserve because they aren't a part of the "BIG 4", but they're honestly better than bands like Slayer and Anthrax.

Brazilians like me just LOVE when some people from other countries discover Sepultura. They are our first great band and revolutionary for metal scene. This is not the best music to react, Roots Bloody Roots or Territory are better.

Back on their album arise I have never heard of them but I liked the album cover so I bought it to check it out and it was awesome, I got to see them with Pantera and biohazard third row was an awesome show

1991 - I was one of the first times in my early 20s in a heavy metal club in Dortmund, Germany - its name was "Spirit" - it was a basement club we had three describing words for: "dunkel, dreckig, laut" = dark, dirty, loud :-D After a while they played "Embryonic Cells" from Sepultara (one album later than the album this song is from)... the second half with the breakdown made my day... week... month... year :-D Although it was the time of alternative & grunge (l love this music really) ... THIS song literally made me headbanging and made me a metal fan (mostly death and thrash metal). After a while I bought the previous album "beneath the remains" with this song "mass hypnosis" on it. 40 minutes pure brutal thrash in your face. I heard that album so often... I really do wonder that you listen to such a shit :-D - because... when Metallica is "hard" THIS shit is brutal. And... the lyrics are not meant to be understandable while listeing. Brad - sometimes making noises is more important than understanding what the noise is about :-D But the lyrics from Sepultura are really interesting - often a critique about our strange society. And yes... it was already in the 80s/90s weird :) - you have to read them up... you wont understand them, especially in the live versions. Live they are mostly even faster then in the studio versions. But... the studio versions are basically the same and while you listen to them the first time most people have a hard time to find the real interesting music in all this loud noise :-D Thanks a lot for surprising me... :)

This was around the time I discovered the band as a teenager and I remember seeing them live for the first time. They were promoting the release of the 'Arise' album and they were lethal. You could feel the double bass drums through the floor and it really got the adrenalin pumping. My ears were ringing for days afterwards. I was lucky enough to meet the band as well and get my album cover signed. They were pretty cool guys.

andreas kisser is really underrated as really good guitarist. Sepultura at their peak, I can'ty believe it's already benn 30y, The Roots of Sepultura is one the first disc I bought, and the bonus CD had songs from this concert, what a game changer

I would think for an untrained ear, hearing this song for the first time live, it's pretty cacaphonic. Would love for you to take a stab at Dead Embryonic Cells by Sepultura next. You're going to like it, I can promise. Got some groove to it.

Crazy shit is you'd listen to one of those old Sepultura albums the first time and be in awe of the tempos they were playing at, then go see them live and they're pushing the songs 20 bpm faster. Igor was a ruthless monster behind the kit. I cut my drumming teeth on Lars, Nick Menza, and Igor Cavalera.

Desperate cry was the first Sepultura song I learned on guitar. Musically and lyrically top notch but the song murder is my favorite lyrically. They're from Brazil and in the song they mention the burning of the rain forest to grow crops stating, " same hand that seeds...burns and same religion that saves....damns you.....whoo powerful! Check it out.

This song is about the dangers of jingoism when used by populist warmongering and/or divisive politicians.

Nice, back to some seriously loud stuff by Sepultura. So many good songs by them. Arise is one of favourite albums. It really got me into into "hard music". I think all metalheads at my school had a sepultura shirt. They really were the shit back then. A bit different, more symphonic/opera influences but fast as well: fleshgod apocalypse from Italy. I think prologue/epilogue is a good song to kick it off.

Love Sepultura. I'm a bit more into extreme metal so I dig the early albums a lot. Lots of black and death elements and a bit truer form to non-commercial metal.

You should have listened to the studio version. The sheer volume and speed increase on this live version kills it. The original speed feels more natural and it's also much clearer. Plus the production job on the album is amazing.

This was from Sepultura in 1991 in Barcelona, Spain... their 4th album 'Arise' which was their 2nd album released outside of their native Brazil. Sepultura evolved w/ more diverse influences w/ the "Chaos A.D." album in '93 and 'Roots' in '96. Sadly, vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera quit Sepultura in '96... went on to form his band Soulfly, which he still does today. His brother Iggor Cavalera on drums, left Sepultura in 2006. Guitarist Andreas Kisser has kept Sepultura going w/ bassist Paulo Jr. & vocalist Derrick Green since 1998... drummer Eloy Casgrande joined in 2011.

There should be a monster of rock tour again. With the true 4 thrash bands, sepultura, metallica, testament and megadeth..

This was early Sepultura, and what would be called early "death metal"💀🤘with bands like Death, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Napalm Death, Entombed, Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, etc.

React to some Power Trip!! (Hornet's Nest, Crucifixation, Executioner's Tax, Divine Apprehension, Firing Squad, etc). One of the best bands to ever come out of my city. The vocalist unfortunately passed away last year, but he left such a huge impact in the modern wave of metal.
