Billy Idol is so damn good. Love this cover! ‘To Be A Lover’ is another classic he covers.

Is anyone curious why the name MONY? The 1968 song was written by Tommy James, whom I know that Shawn and Mel have listened to many times in the past. Tommy was in the process of writing a rocking love song in the office of his NY apartment and was trying to come up with a catchy two syllable name for the girl in the song. At one point, he took a break and looked out across the street where the electric sign of the Mutual of New York insurance building was blinking on and off, MONY MONY. And the rest is rock and roll history.

I used to dance the hell out of this! I saw Billy with my brother back in the day but we had to leave early because somebody threw a beer on stage and hit Billy. He got pissed and started throwing things back and we got out before all hell broke loose. It was a trip.

I was lucky enough to see Billy Idol in concert in his prime in about 1990. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. He’s was flipping amazing

Saw Mr. Billy Idol and Steve Stevens, and the rest of Billy's band perform this live back in the late 80's. Really, really fun show. Billy tells the story that this particular song was playing while he was being deflowered. Hey, he said it, I'm just repeating it. Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah!!!! Billy has the best sneer since Elvis Presley. I think this video is from the same tour I saw.

I love this version of 60s hit "Mony". Billy covered it in 1981. Tommy James & The Shondells first released it in 1968. Both great 👍 ❤🎶

They banned this at alot of high school dances in the 80s cuz students would yell out " get laid, get f*cked" at one part of the song. Not all high schools but i know mine did. Lol.

If you have ever wondered what MONY means it stands for Mutual of Omaha New York. The author of this song, whose name slips my mind, was in his New York City hotel room one night looking out the window at a giant neon sign that was flashing M.O.N.Y. which stood for what I said before. So he wrote the song, used the letters, and it became a huge hit.
