EDIT: Since dropping this video Gradey 53%FG and 48% 3pt (17 games) Hawkins 36% FG and 35% 3pt (16 games) This why u don’t judge rookies based off like 20 games
I’m not too worried about the Real Slim Gradey. He’s a much better shooter than he’s been this season, I don’t think anyone can deny that despite his struggles. Jaquez turns 23 in a couple weeks. JHS and Dick are 20. Scoot turns 20 soon. Lively is exactly what the Mavs needed position wise and he’s worked out really well, I’m happy for him. I think judging draft picks in their rookie years is mostly an exercise in futility.
I’m not trolling drafting an American white player in the first round is one of the worst mistakes a team could make. Last great white American player was Larry bird drafted 46 years ago. White American nba all stars last 25 years? Brad Miller, Kevin love, Kyle Korver, and Chris Kaman🤣 Brad Miller was undrafted player, and Kyle Korver was 51st pick second round Chet holgram has been good but he was leagues better then this Kentucky kid in college
I said it a year ago. Dick is not a NBA player. He wasn't even that good in college. At best he's just a 3point specialist but a liability at defense, but right now he can't even hit 3s.
Chet Holmgren begs to differ. To a lesser degree Tyler Hero is a solid scorer in the nba. Dick will never be as good as Hero but that should be what he hopes to become @@stevesharpe3370
We regret NOTHING about draft Gradey Dick all it took was a few weeks of the raptors development process and we getting a upcoming star, Gradey dick has become a deadly shooter for this Raptors squad.
Draft talents are hard to predict unless it's an obvious generational one. The organization plays a huge part of their development too, that's what it makes them so unpredictable.
Organizations play a HUGE part in a guy’s development and eventual success. Surprised it wasn’t mentioned with Jacquez/Heat. You have to get minutes to produce…
I won't stress over so much about Dick, development is key rn. Say Corey Kispert struggled right from the beginning, but he became a reliable shooter soon after. Gradey is more raw, again, I won't freak out nor should anyone about rookies, yet we do it anyways.
Kispert was a bad pick too he can’t do anything besides shoot and some slashing. Horrible defender, low iq and no passing ability at all Doug McDermott 2.0. That’s my fear for Dick if he can even shoot, maybe he can do more role player things but I’m skeptical. Cam Whitmore was on the board!!! 🤦♂️
Kispert wasn’t that great of a pick either he’s developed into a good shooter an that’s all he doesn’t provide anything else, Dick is looking like he’d fall in the same boat and it’s even worse when knowing who was still on the board
@@EDTheOneable He’s been bad his whole career especially on defense idk what you have been watching 😂 An occasional good game like tonight doesn’t make up for all the bad he’s never been a winning player
I’m pretty excited about Walker. The Pacers have 8 players with double digit point averages and are in a five way battle for the 4-8th seed in the East. There isn’t room for risk taking right now but I’m sure he will get his time considering they stated they wouldn’t trade him.
We need to stop putting such high expectations on rookies. Not every single player is coming right out the gates on fire. We can judge them after 1 or 2 seasons when theyve had proper time to develop and accilmate to the nba
Eh. They haven't really developed any of their first rounders aside from Bam. He's the one that really showed improvement. They didn't do much outside of him and Herro. Aside from undrafted journey guys. But Coach Spol has always been great.
@@TheBuddha337 I actually I think 2017 was the year they've had a good coaching development team. That was the year they got Bam. Maybe something changed
Gradey is just missing the confidence. He has solid mechanics. He hasn't been able to adjust to the speed, length and athleticism of the NBA. Hes always standing around waiting for the ball to never come to him. He needs to move, run and hunt down potential open shots.

This furthers the discussion of one and done being a terrible product more often than not. You have good players….and then you have the majority that just don’t have it. Meanwhile, it seems like all of the 2-4 year college guys who, while not necessarily have the hype, they always end up being much more solid pros.
As a Jazz fan, considering we got Keyonte, I’m very happy we got Hendricks. Little development and muscle needed, which could have hurt him with confidence if he wasn’t able to preform due to size and age. His development will be perfect. He’ll be a monster 2 way player in a year or 2.
@@James-lt3so Yep. I didnt want to say it but I agree, Keyonte > Wallace solely for what this jazz team needs going forward. Jazz are hunting a superstar, Keyonte has signs of that. Wallace has signs of peak Jrue Holiday to me (which is far from a diss).
As a Magic fan, I’m not really too worried about the FO missing on Hawkins. Always knew he was going to be the best shooting prospect in the draft but we’ve still needed a long-term shooter that can do threaten defenses off-ball and on-ball which was the sell with Jett Howard’s tape in Michigan. Lively right now to me though seems like the bigger regret just cause athletic Cs like Lively that can handle defending the perimeter well enough and rim protect, usually don’t come with much complementary skills and Lively’s passing is what made him interesting as he could pass off rolls to the rim.
I always say you need to give at least 3 years for a player to determine if they have any potential. Obviously there are exceptions but generally after 3 years you can what a player is.
I think the funniest part of NBA fandom is watching your team draft a young player purely on potential and then complain when that young player isn’t polished. It happens sometimes that a player comes out of college after 1 or 2 years and is very good, but more often than not they need development.
Scoot is getting better and better. 31 points and almost a triple double a few nights ago. He will get better with his efficiency. As a Blazers fan, I have no regrets. I have high hopes. We are going to be bad for a couple of years. I just want to see the young core build and grow. LOVE the video
Unless you are an elite player or great at worse, where you get drafted (meaning the team and the mentality of said team) plays a role. One player doesn't develop the same way on the Bos roster vs the Det roster. So even if the Lakers had drafted Jaques doesn't mean that he would put out the same number as he is doing on the Heat.
@@bkelly625Development is part of the game, you act like players suppose to come out of the draft and have it all figured out. Hating on this guy for no reason. He's good player period.
Scoots issue is him needing to get his eyes fixed... right now he's using contacts & the eye googles... but he really needs to get the eye surgery if he saying his vision has become extremely blurry
Hendricks wasn't floor ready for NBA ball when drafted, and missed Summer league play. Putting him on the floor at start of season would have just killed his confidence and hampered his growth as a player. He's going to be fine
As a Raptors fan I ain’t stressed about Gradey he’s a hard worker who will at minimum be a great rotation player for years and at most all star level player
I’m not worried about scoot, he flashes insane playmaking upside. He also can get to the line like crazy and had a streak of 38 free throws made without a miss.
give him maybe a year after this season or just this season n i think dick could be a great role player for a championship contender team , i think he will be atleast 15-25 pts a game type player he spreads the floor n shooting n being able to score in paint will make him great
#3 pick Scoot Henderson can't shoot, can't pass, is bad at defense. The Blazers pushed Lillard out of town, and actually thought Henderson would win them championships.
Teams need to learn they should NEVER pass on young freak athletes with promising shooting touch…. Coulibaly and Whitmore should’ve went top 5 idc what happens this season both 19 I’ll stand on it that a few years from now they will both be top 5 from the class (health permitting). Just like in 2022 JDub should’ve went top 3 and Tari Eason top 10 maybe top 5 and 2021 Jalen Johnson should’ve went top 5…passing on these guys for fit of perceived floor is irresponsible
I view high IQ and skill to be more prioritized on contending teams while the bottom teams should take risks in getting freak athletes. But of course high skill is above everything like in the case of Luka and wemby
@@nibblets1961 That’s how you end up taking Kelly Olynyk over Giannis in 2013 (not that he has shooting touch but still he was Greek Freak already for a reason), or Morris twins, Burks and Fredette over Kawhi in 2011. Jalen Green types are different as he is an undersized shooting guard lacking in wingspan and strength should’ve never been hyped up as an elite athlete he’s just explosive that’s different
@@bkelly625 I get what your saying but both weren’t exactly freak athletes in the beginning. It was their development that made them great but we are talking about drafts at the start. Plus looking at the league today there are more high iq skilled players than there are freak athletes because injuries are a thing. In my opinion freak athletes should have the game adapt to them and not them adapting to the game. Skilled players can do both.
The problem with Gradey Dick is that, if his shot never returns, there’s really nothing else he could realistically develop to contribute to an NBA team.
Honestly I wouldn’t be worried about Dick. He still has time, and has the upside to drive the rim (slash style) on occasion, as well as sharp shooter and play making. I’ve noticed quite a number of sharp shooters struggle out the gate, but usually put it together.
Magic fans ain’t really mad with Jett he’s 6’7 with a 7 foot wingspan and has Giannis shoulders dude been killing the g league when we make couple trades he’ll get PT can’t judge him fair just yet .
I'm always lenient to call players as "busts" until a solid 3-4 years in their careers because a player's career can turn around so quickly. I remember when people were calling Scottie Barnes "the next Michael Carter-Williams" after a mediocre 2nd season and now he is by far the most valuable piece that Toronto has. Jalen Suggs was considered a bust during his first couple seasons and now, he is an important part of the Magic's rotation. Hell, Brandon Miller was declared a bust before he even played a game in the NBA.
Saw someone say on twitter forgot which player, the raptors shooting trainer changed his shot mechanics. Thats why hes shooting bad right now. Forgot which nba player who said it. Hali?
With the vast majority of players, you can tell if they are going to be bad within the first 6-12 months. Scoot is absolutely booty and I don't think he is an NBA level player.

@@stevesharpe3370 Herro is balling in Miami. Duncan Robinson too. Caruso is a legit defender, as well as Grayson Allen who's actually playing better than their big 3 at times.
@@ArchiveRagtagMoe none of these guys are all-stars. Duncan Robinson and Caruso were undrafted. Surprised you didn’t bring up Austin reeves who was undrafted as well. Tyler hero as been pretty good as white American first round draft pick and Grayson Allen has faired pretty well for a late first round pick, but you were only able to name two white American players drafted in the first round who are simply only fringe starters. Like I said it’s not smart drafting a white American in the first round, now a white foreign born player is a whole another story
@@stevesharpe3370 I mostly agree with you, but Podz was picked a few picks after Dick and he’s been balling out! Plus Cooper Flag is the highest rated recruit in the country. Kevin Love was All-NBA for years. But yea, the list is def shorter than the international/European white guy list…
@@stevesharpe3370 there’s a ton of American white boys dominating college ball right now, but unfortunately most don’t have games that will prob translate great to the pros. Zach Edey, Hunter Dickinson, Donovan Clingan, Kyle Filipowski, Tyler Kolek, Marcus Domask, Dalton Knecht…
YES….. there were definitely several players available who were already better than Dick…. And I’m not talking about in hindsight… I’m very skeptical of players who focus more on attire and Social Media posts than working in their game…. Even if the posts are funny
