Hey. That saw bites like any brand name. Have you tuned it with new parts or just screwdrive adjustment? I have to say your tune sounds about good as it can get. Looks like an old Husqvarnas clone, maybe those plastic parts and screws arent so high quality as swedes used in them.. edit. Forgot to ask if this saw is suitable for pro use?
I'm thinking about getting a cheap Chinese saw for camping. I'd only use it's maybe once or twice a year to cut firewood and if it gets stolen it's not a big deal.
It might be 3 years old but looking at the scratchless caseings it looks like new plus after 3 years use it wouldve gone through at least 5 starter mechs
Yes, mine just started doing that. I'm going to put a new carb on it and see if that fixes it. It could be a hole in a gas line, it could be the diaphragm in the carb went bad or the tank vent went bad.
@@Ur-notalonehere I'd try a new carb and see what that does. It could need a carb adjustment too. I'd try the adjustment first and see what that does. The spark arrestor is usually in the end of the muffler.
Chain's stretch during working due to heat expansion, wrong tensioning, and the tensioning parts could get worn that should be a fair answer for you, hope u got some knowledge there also parts comes loose . Hope Kelly Joyner take back his comments if he read mines . Help all,,,
Just bought this same saw (made under a different name now) for $82 on ebay today. Should be here in 7 days or less. Thank you for all the videos! They made my decision easier!
Well, that is a compliment to how you built and maintained it and probably a little bit of luck was involved, too. I built a ms 660 last fall and it lasted about 8 tanks of gas before it died. I think just the cylinder or piston expired but it locked up.
Hello John!!! Many people after purchased chinese chainsaw.....run to chathedral for .....benedictione omnipotentis in nomine pater filius et spiritus sanctus. I thynk you understand me! Excuse me for bad english. Cheers from MONZA
Daniela Brullo I did not un to the padre for anything although I did have lots of trepidation until I got the crankcase together. I had a few more worrying times - the chain break on a Stihl saw is a bitch the first time you put it together but Matt and Walt walked me through the difficult parts. After putting four of those suckers together I am an old hand, now. The last obstacle was cranking it for the first time. The first cylinder and piston on the 660 gave me fits. It wanted to fire well before BTDC and tried to take my arm off. It broke two starters and pull ropes before I replaced the cylinder and piston. It is now a pussy cattier crank and cuts as good as any 91.5cc saw. Matt wanted me to test it against one of his hopped up 372’s but that would not have been fair to his 372. I do not think his 372 will stay with my ms 440 because it’s a hoss. My next project is going to be a 460. My favorite one of the bunch is my ms 360. I have not had to do anything to it. Walt said his 360 sucked but mine has been a workhorse. I am going to replace it’s clutch springs because they are loosing their tension.
The most problem with 2 stroke engines is the carburator tuning. If it works lean, that is big problem. If you tune your carburator correctly you won’t locked you engine.
Nice to see it is still going strong. I've been eyeing the Stihl 070 clone to go with my mix of other chainsaws when funds allow. It'll fit in nicely with my Stihl MS251, Homelite 290, old Poulan 2400 Woodmaster, and my Husqvarna 570 once it's rebuilt. :)
One of these $80 saws will replace your ms251 easily. With the left over you could get both the 070 clone and one of these, plus several gallons of gas
@@Billy-burner I doubt I'll be replacing my MS 251 any time soon. But I have been shopping around for the past few days for a much bigger saw to cut larger trees. I priced out a Stihl MS 400C to get a base to compare to which goes for $1,000. Sadly the max bar size recommended by Stihl is only 20". Which is too small for such a big saw going for such an insane amount of money. I've also tried looking at local ECHO dealers to see if they carried a CS 680P which goes for less than $700 and it can run up to a 32" bar. Sadly one of the dealers is no longer an ECHO dealer. Another dealer that is 6 miles from my house only carries small cc saws and the third dealer I tried going to isn't open on the weekend when I'm not at work. So if I have to order off of the internet which it looks like I'm going to have to I'll probably just buy one of the Holzfforma Chinese clones. They seem to have the best build quality out of all the clones. Their G660 goes for less than $400 and can run a big bar on it. If I wanted to go hog-wild I could buy their G888 for less than $600 and have a huge 122cc saw. Which may be the route I'll end up going to get a big saw. Also, more saws have been added to my collection since I originally posted this comment 4 years ago. I got rid of the Husqvarna 570 and sold it to my younger brother as a parts saw for his perfectly running 570. I have a Stihl 026 that needs to be worked on. I have a perfectly running John Deere CS36 but it needs new fuel lines. I also have a McCulloch Mini-MAC 30 and a McCulloch 10-10, both of which also need to be worked on. I still have the Homelite 290 and the Poulan 2400 Woodmaster. If I had the space to store it I could also get my hands on a vintage Stihl 036 AV. But since space is lacking I'm trying to avoid more project saws for now. :)
Good looking wood, I think these saws are actually good if it’s like mine it’s a zenoah clone; mine is 58ccs and I have less problems with it than the Poulan saws I have
They're good cheap saws, much better than the box store poulans IMO. The 2 I have work great and have been trouble free, they're just a little slower than a pro saw which doesn't bother me as I don't cut wood for a living. I ported mine to make em faster but that's not needed at all, I just like messing with stuff.
I have this same saw. What type of bar and chains should I order as replacements? My bar is 18'". When I look online it specifies for Stihl or Husky??? Will either work?
I don't know if you seen the comment I made but I used mine Tuesday and it did great I switched to 40:1 and it worked fine I will keep you in the loop as to how it's going
I have one untouched. Bought it but haven't really needed it yet, running small 10" electric for everything so far, but I do have some stuff I need to cut out away from the house that'll need my gasser. The one I bought has label "TK5200". What fuel mix you running? I've heard you want to go heavy on the 2-stroke oil for these things to make sure they last? Have you replaced the bar or chain yet?
@@Lanninglongarmmowing theat is corect. I worked with a lot o saws, chinese saws, husqvarna saw,and others but the chinese chainsaw is very cheap in our country, the cheapest cost about 50 dolars ant is worth the money. sorry for my bad english.
@@EugenTechTips Am about to hazard buying one knowingly. Had a Sears/Craftsman that I discerned a year after buying was actually a flat 46 cc Chinese copy.... didn't last 2 years, er, didn't last two months without needing repairs, leaked oil all the time, and I never could get parts for it. Oh sure, you CAN get them via Chinese suppliers.... super cheap if you're patient, things like the fuel lines, grommets, carburetors and such, but I've yet to find ANY decent parts diagrams for everything -- the way they used to sell and service Craftsman stuff. Any tips Eugene or @Love2boat92 for locating detailed parts diagrams for Chinese saws.... ? Repair guides even better? (in english?)
@@hugh3rdof5 seriously? It's a 2cycle chainsaw... The innards have 3 moving parts... What else is thare that you haven't mentioned yet, coil, oil pump, oil pump worm gear, clutch and clutch drum... That's it 😂
Nothing wrong with Chinese chainsaws. The pull start handle on mine fell off. Easy fix! My leaks oil while stored. Ordered a new Oregon chain for it. Eats trees like a beaver ...
That is correct. Mine leaks also. I empty it after every use. It's a pain but then I don't have oil everywhere. Lol. Almost all saws leak bar oil. My saw cuts pretty good too. I could be happier with it.
@@exoticcreature3059 why not freshen it up if you tear it apart though lol. Piston and cylinder and rings are only 15 bucks and you can do a base gasket delete for even more man glitter goodness lol
@@HP83Smoke good to hear i jus ordered g372xp and hope the best , but my echos are always ready was jus kiddin bout 100 : 1 , i run 32 : 1 and never score piston and burn out crank bearings
@@LanninglongarmmowingI have one of their 070 clones that i use for milling. Recently i converted it to an 090 thanks to a Austrian ebay seller who had a clutch for a reasonable price. And i just got one of their 660s 2 days ago. I'm absolutly loving it.
Also you can order the bar separate from them i ordered a 20" one but they charge shipping on it. It doesnt have a replaceable sprocket so I don't know how long it will last. Its also not a lightweight bar. Im also extremly pleased with the chain that came with it.
TK 4500 is the model. I don't think they are making them anymore. They have changed them a little but under the hood they are probably still the same saw.
"CHINESE CHAINSAW WOULD DIE AFTER 3 YEARS" And what? The repair kit of this engine here in the EU costs ~15-20€ lol All parts for chinese chainsaws are super cheap and many people used it professional. Stihl with similar characteristics costs ~ 400-500€.
Yeah most people think of them as throw away tools. The parts are available and super cheap. I mean $95 my "Gasoline Chain Saw" might seem cheap throw away junk to us but in China that's a lot of money and they expect it to work. They just don't wince about bar oil leaking when not using it, and plastic feeling cheap, etc.
My Farmertec saws are all over three years old and run fine. I run my standard 50:1 Red Armor mix in them, but started them out with Stihl Ultra. The only one that is not 3 years old is my 372XP, which I built last year. I am pretty particular how I build my saws and replace any part that does not meet my standards, but other than that they are factory original. I did not even replace a part on my MS 360, except I have a factory Stihl carb on it, but it ran just as good as the Chinese carb. I just wanted a limiter carb on it. They all have over 20 tanks on them.
These saws are a little bit heavier because they have a full aluminum crankcase under the plastic. I bought one on ebay with a 52cc engine and 22" bar for $92 just to check it out. Most people report they are worth it.
