My Brother, I can't tell you how beautiful it is to see you do this fish shop. I grew up, and lived around that area all of my young life. It was always a brilliant chippy for at least the last 40 years that I know...incredible that they are still serving up top quality now....I'm glad you got the usual warmGeordie welcome...Love you Bruv, love to the Fam x
something tells me that regular cod wouldn't normally be that size, when they know who he is they're bound to give him that special treatment, it did look very very good though...
That cod is the best I have ever seen, nice and thick, just as it should be. This is a great man, very entertaining. Never seen a fish cake like these, so well made
Me and my friend Mike, always wonder and wish how come there’s no real fish and chips shops in Florida? Yes, they do serve a flounder fillet and fries, but I want that plate like you got that giant cod, good for you lucky dog.! I’m trapped in the house because of illness and you’re making the day go by faster 👍🏼🥰
We visited epcot from UK and tried the fish and chips in the UK section it was a joke it was a piece of frozen fish then deep fried that tasted disgusting. The Irish pub at the Disney springs was OK it was half decent food .
You get what you pay for of course and that looks quality food with great presentation with slices of lemon, greenery and complimentary dips. Particularly liked the look of that fishcake with chorizo and is clearly a testament to whoever created it.
Wow Danny that food looks great, I enjoy your videos, and I like the food that you like aswell, and it's nice to see your friendly Ness to passers by , I can see your care for others, thanks from Tony from Bedfordshire
Jeez, you know I usually hate fish cakes... My experience with them, even from higher class fish and chip shops, is that of a horrid processed grey "fish" meat that tastes like ancient, cheap school cafeteria fish fingers. Those fish cakes look like a whole different thing, and the sound they made when you bit into them gave me a desire ive never had in my life before; Now I actually want a fish cake.
Danny... those large paper bags easily fold flat so you can slip it in next to your seat...crushing the bag is like rubbing your nails on a chalk board... 🙂
I watch from the US and our drink prices, including water, are crazy high. Almost $3 for a bottle of water or pop. We have stopped buying drinks when we get take out and bring our own.
OMG Danny that fish looked lovely all crispy and devine yum yum in the tum 10/10 for me i was salivating watching this and im on a blinking diet hahahaha
Yes I live in a small village in Cheshire, open 4 days 11-2 the 5-8 and closed weekends. Quality over quantity I think?it is a great chippy tho, beef dripping, oh yeah 🎉
@@drewwhy5541 True...a chippy tea is a treat now and again, not a weekly like years ago. I prefer good quality and portions over poor quality evey time. I recall when chips were 6d in a paper cone...🙄🤣
I used to come here when Italian lady georgetti had it. Lived opposite down the street to the left. Nan used to send me for tail end and chips. Mrs Gorman has kept the best chippy in the area and hands down is the best fish and chip shop in Newcastle. I would say willow is a close second. Must admit. Would love my fish shop scran to be in newspaper again.
I recall my fish cakes orders at one quid in 1985, Chinese massive spring rolls at 2 quid in 1985, week shopping bill is now 150 quid compared to 75 quid before 2020.
@@johnrubino7604 Aye it's a kings supper for sure, I was just pulling your leg though, since you said you would fly over the pond to buy them which would be dramatically more expensive🤣
Traditional English fiscakes are made mixing all the ingredients into the mash then deep frying. This is more evolved with the filling put into an envelope of crumb. Looks delicious. For entertainment /educational purposes only!
I worked at this fish shop many years ago when it was known as Gormans. The owners back then Rose and Dougie were lovely people and great to work with. The food back then was spot on. I haven't been back to try in uears but friends say the food is really really good. The area I grew up where this place is.
Makes me laugh that people dont realise a place wont stay open if the prices are too high. Saying it's too expensive, "daylight robbery" or whatever. Why should they charge less if they dont need to? If they start to struggle then they can lower the prices.
The best fish and chips I can remember were when I was a boy! They came wrapped in newspaper and have never tasted as good since we’ve gone this hygienic packaging route.
Can I just point out to those people that are whining on about the prices! Fenham is not far from North Shields fish quay, that means fresh fish caught just a couple of miles from the shop! You pay for what you get. Love you channel Danny 👌🏻
Be awsome too see you in Peterborough..I can recommend Mega Bites ... the food is absolutely fantastic... I hope you enjoy the meal you got there ... looks maestro and definitely lush...😊
In NZ ... Fish 'n' chips are a huge part of our takeaway culture. In recent years the price has increased, as with everything, but the quality and consistency has at the same time decreased in most, not all, shops. For me, they are no longer my fave. HOWEVER, the presentation, the generous portions, and your review made me salivate. I'd certainly make a special trip for that fish cake alone if I were in the UK. Nice review!
Maybe a bit pricey for the north but id pay for that in London and be happy -except for the water. Will visit there when in Newcastle later this year. And very well presented.
Go at lunch time and get their lunch-time mini meals. They're not so mini, and they cost about a fiver. Fenham Fish Bar is great, food is amazing. They have let their reputation get ahead of themselves a little, as they're known in the toon as being one of the best, and their prices reflect it. Could be worse, could be Colemans in South Shields.
Not good if the boxes are kept on the floor like the pizza houses do. (Newspaper better as it has chemicals that keep it hygenic that's why newspaper was also used to birth babies.) For entertainment /educational purposes only!
I'm from Newcastle sorry people weren't as friendly and welcoming as they are other parts, if I'd seen you I'd have give ya a big hug haha. Everybody seemed uptight and offish on all ya vuds up here
