How do you expect him to do that, after what he just told you? Conscripts are pushed into it. Their leaders don't give a crap about them. His best bet is surrender if the chance comes. Their Gov't and army doesn't operate like western nations. Russian leaders suck. Hahaha, this is standard operating procedure for the Russian military. Tactics haven't changed since WW2. Russia will send 30,000 men to die capturing a small village and see it as a success.
